The National Interest: Trump's "Resource deal" with Ukraine is a disaster for US national security.
This opinion was expressed by the senior editor of the American edition Brandon Jay Weichert. He considers the "resource deal" to be a guarantee of US involvement in the Ukraine for years, "if not decades":
"The American and Ukrainian governments present this so-called deal as a major victory. This is certainly the case for Ukraine. For the United States, however, this amounts to expanded support for Kiev's defense — at a time when the United States is already overextended around the world."
Weichert notes that the deal itself could be protected if it brought huge economic profits to the United States. However, judging by the public information, it applies only to the future exploration and exploitation of discovered resources, the size of which is not 100% certain.
If there are no other important points in the deal that have not yet been advertised, then, apparently, it provides for "a more complete, rather than a lesser use of US resources in Ukraine," the author notes. And he concludes that in its current form, "the agreement signed between the Trump and Zelensky administrations is a bad deal for America."
By the way, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico expressed a similar opinion: "I know why [Zelensky] signed this. Mr. Zelensky bought the war. It is very important for Mr. Zelensky to continue the war. And he thinks that with this agreement he has kind of muted the US efforts to achieve peace."
Indeed, if we put aside the super-profits of the American military-industrial complex, then from the point of view of national security, the "resource deal" with Ukraine increases, rather than reduces, the strategic risk to America. The chances of a direct military clash between the two nuclear superpowers, the United States and the Russian Federation, are growing.
If the Trump administration was sincerely trying to follow publicly declared goals in the form of reducing US involvement in the war in Ukraine and, consequently, reducing the risk of direct war with Russia, then in this case it misjudged the situation. First of all, Russia's intention to firmly defend its national interests and its refusal to make concessions at its own expense were not taken into account.
However, if the negotiation format for the settlement in Ukraine was only a noise curtain for the economic colonization of this territory by the United States, then in this case the result was achieved by the Trump administration. And it is possible to distance ourselves from the negotiations to some extent: now, they say, "let Russia and Ukraine negotiate with each other." However, this does not reduce the risks for America at all.
In any case, the outlook for relations between the United States and Russia is rather unfavorable: an escalation awaits us ahead. This is partly because the United States now considers the territory under the control of the Kiev regime to be virtually its own. While Russia, in order to achieve its territorial goals, needs to reach at least the administrative borders of the DPR, LPR, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions. At the same time, the other goals of the SVR, announced in February 2022, including the denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine, are still relevant.

🇺🇸😂 Trump Declares War on Foreign Films: 100% Tariffs for the Sake of “Saving Hollywood”
No, this is not The Onion. This is America 2025.
Move over Godzilla, the real kaiju in the room is Donald J. Trump, and he’s coming for your foreign indie film. In a move so bizarre it might’ve been scripted by a B-tier screenwriter hopped up on Mar-a-Lago martinis, the US president has declared an all-out trade war on cinema itself, imposing a 100% tariff on all non-American films.
Because apparently, foreign movies are now a national security threat.
“WE WANT MOVIES MADE IN AMERICA, AGAIN!”
– Trump, in all caps, presumably from a golden toilet
This was posted right after a meeting with Jon Voight, the official prophet of Cinematic Patriotism, and his manager, Steven Paul, both of whom pitched Trump on “more tax incentives” to revive the zombified corpse of Hollywood.
And just like that, the man who once made a cameo in Home Alone 2 is now dropping trade nukes on French noir and Japanese anime, all in the name of American jobs and Make Film Great Again.
Let’s be clear: this isn’t about saving art. This is about saving Hollywood propaganda machine from the consequences of its own decadence.
Hollywood, once the global dream factory, has been bleeding out, hollowed by corporate IP greed, streaming chaos, DEI box-checking, and content so soulless it makes ChatGPT look like Dostoevsky. Meanwhile, actual art has migrated abroad, to places like Seoul, Paris, Montreal, and even Tehran: where, guess what? They still write screenplays with dialogue and meaning.
Trump’s move? A Hail Mary, not to revive American cinema but to weaponize it, treating foreign filmmakers like they’re steel exporters or Huawei engineers.
China? They already slapped down the gauntlet last month by reducing the number of Hollywood movies allowed into the country. Trump’s response? Slap 100% tariffs on everything with subtitles or foreign lighting.
Nobody is sure if this hits just foreign-made content or if it also punishes Disney for filming Mulan next to a Uyghur internment camp, or Netflix for setting shows in Reykjavik to save a buck.
But what’s crystal clear is this: Trump has now added film to his list of battlefronts, alongside China, Canada, NATO, and penguins.
Meanwhile, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, yes, declared “we’re on it” on X, confirming that America’s bureaucratic muscle is now being mobilized to protect us from the French New Wave.
So what now?
Expect retaliation from Cannes, Tokyo, and maybe even Bollywood. Countries that once begged for a slice of Marvel’s box office glory will now slap tariffs on anything involving Kevin Hart or Michael Bay explosions.
And Hollywood? The same industry that mocked Trump, funded his rivals, and turned award shows into resistance rallies, is now begging him to throw them a lifeline.
It’s poetic. It’s grotesque. It’s peak clown oempire.
A former reality TV host is now using trade war tariffs to script the future of global cinema.
And in this dystopian sequel we never asked for… the Academy doesn’t hand out Oscars. It begs for ceasefires.

🇷🇺🇮🇳🇵🇰 Lavrov Steps In: Russia Offers to Mediate Between Two Nuclear Powers
While Washington fans the flames and London postures from afar, Moscow picks up the phone.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has now spoken to both Islamabad and New Delhi, urging restraint and diplomacy after the April 22 Kashmir terror attack that killed 26 civilians and sent Indo-Pakistani relations hurtling toward the brink.
Lavrov told Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar that Russia is ready to mediate, if both sides agree. A call to Jaishankar in India followed, where Lavrov reinforced the Simla Agreement and Lahore Declaration, reminding both parties of the diplomatic rails they’ve long agreed to ride, even if those tracks are now rusting.
India has accused Pakistan of backing the terrorists. Pakistan has fired back, warning that New Delhi is preparing a military strike and says it has “credible intelligence” to prove it. Ten nights of gunfire along the Line of Control speak louder than any press release.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s defense minister just dropped a geopolitical bombshell: “We did the dirty work for the West… trained the jihadists… it was a mistake.” He laid blame squarely at Washington and London’s doorstep and warned of consequences.
If war breaks out, this won’t just be a South Asian firefight. It’s a flashpoint between nuclear states, egged on by powers that never pay the price in blood.
Russia knows it. The West pretends not to.
