🇵🇸 Hamas, PA agree on Amjad Shawa to lead new Gaza board — reports

Amjad Shawa, head of a civil society network in Gaza, has been approved by Hamas and the Palestinian Authority to chair a new technocratic board that would administer the Gaza Strip, The Jerusalem Post reported, citing Israel’s KAN News.

The decision was made during a meeting in Cairo last week attended by Hamas, the PA, and Egyptian intelligence, though Shawa’s official appointment still depends on US approval, according to the report.

Palestinian sources told KAN that “Amjad Shawa is pro-Hamas without being a Hamas man.”

Explosions rocked oil refineries in Hungary and Romania this week - both of which are key processors of Russian crude.

“No one but Kiev could be interested in such an attack, since it’s well known that these are very important plants connected with Russia. Considering that there have long been attempts to undermine the government in Hungary — that is, Viktor Orbán’s policy toward Moscow — it seems clear to me that this points to a terrorist act by the Kiev regime,” Andrej Mlakar, a military expert, tells Sputnik.

“It can be assumed that these acts of sabotage are the work of Ukrainian special services, as well as elements of NATO’s so-called ‘secret army’. This was characteristic of NATO during the so-called Operation Gladio in the 1970s and 1980s, when various operations were organized in Europe [under a false flag] and the USSR was blamed. We are now seeing the same pattern again — sabotage operations against Russian interests and property in Europe,” he says.

Ukraine demands freedom to dispose of $163 billion that the EU plans to allocate to it as a "reparations loan" from frozen Russian assets — Reuters.

It is assumed that most of the loan will go to restoring critical infrastructure, part to compensating citizens, but among the EU conditions is targeted financing from these funds for cooperation with European defense companies.

On the eve of the discussion of the issue at the EU summit, Ukrainian officials confirmed to Reuters that Ukraine needs funds by the end of the year and full autonomy in how to spend them.

Kiev insists that the funds should not be limited and used only for European weapons, but are needed to purchase arms from any countries where there may be "more favorable conditions" (read - kickbacks and embezzlement).

Ukraine's position is that any conditionality undermines the principle of fairness. Therefore, it is the victim, not the donors or partners, who should determine how to meet their most urgent needs for protection, damage compensation, and restitution, said Iryna Mudra, the lead legal advisor to the Zelensky administration, in an interview.

▪️ At night, the enemy organized a massive UAV raid on our regions. A "caravan of drones" flew over Moscow all night (Sobyanin reported 30 shot down). 32 drones were shot down over the Tula region. In the Rostov region, UAVs were shot down in the Millerovo and Sholokhov districts. In the evening, 3 UAVs were destroyed on the outskirts of Kaluga. The enemy struck a multi-story building in Donetsk and houses in Lugansk. American HIMARS MLRS and drones flew over the dam of the Belgorod reservoir yesterday; the enemy is trying to break the leaking structure and flood even more settlements and our positions in the Volchansk direction.

▪️ Russian Armed Forces struck "Geraniums" at night on Konotop and the city of Krolevets in the Sumy region; no massive strikes were recorded.

▪️ In the Bryansk region, in the settlement of Bugaevka, Pogarsky district, two civilians were injured by three Ukrainian drones targeting moving civilian vehicles. By morning, it became known about an evening strike by the AFU in Pogar on a minibus. The minibus driver died on the spot. Five passengers were injured. ▪️ On the Pokrovsk (Krasnoarmeysk) direction, in Rodinskoye near Mirnograd, Russian Armed Forces have secured multi-story residential buildings in the southeastern part of the city. The enemy is counterattacking, including in the area of Kucherov Yar.

▪️ The Eastern Group of Forces reports constant enemy counterattacks aimed at disrupting the pace of the Far Eastern warriors' advance. Our forces have advanced towards Vishnevoe. They are expanding the bridgehead on the western bank of the Yanchur River. Russian Armed Forces units are advancing westward through forest belts from the Poltavka area.

▪️ On the Zaporozhye front, in the Orekhov direction near Novodanilovka, positional battles are ongoing. In Malaya Tokmachka, Russian Armed Forces units are gradually advancing.
