THE ORDER TO FAST
ALLĀH said:
O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you
Here ALLĀH tells us of the blessings that HE has bestowed upon HIS slaves by enjoining them to fast as HE enjoined it upon previous nations, because it is one of the laws and commands that are in the best interests of people in all times.
This verse also offers encouragement to this Ummah, that they should compete with others in striving to do perfect deeds and hastening to acquire righteous qualities; this is not something too burdensome which they have been singled out to do.
Then ALLĀH tells us of the wisdom behind the prescription of fasting, as HE says:
لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
That you may become pious.
Fasting is one of the greatest means of developing piety, because it involves obeying the command of ALLĀH and avoiding that which HE has forbidden.
Part of the piety that fasting involves is that the fasting person refrains from that which ALLĀH has forbidden to him of food, drink, intercourse and so on, to which he is naturally inclined, seeking thereby to draw closer to ALLĀH, hoping for HIS reward by giving up these things. This is part of piety. Piety also includes the following:
▫️ The fasting person trains himself to remember that ALLĀH is always watching, so he gives up things that he desires even though they may be available to him, because he knows that ALLĀH is watching him.
▫️ Fasting narrows the pathways of the Shaytan, who flows through the son of Adam like blood. Fasting weakens the Shaytan’s influence and reduces sins.
▫️The fasting person usually does many acts of worship and obedience, which are characteristics of piety.
▫️By fasting, the rich man feels the pain of hunger, which makes him inclined to help the poor and destitute. This is also a characteristic of piety.

THE QUR'AN LOVES RAMADĀN AND RAMADĀN LOVES THE QUR'AN
In Ramadān, the Noble Qur'ān has its own special taste and flavour. It offers exceptional inspiration and distinct rationales. Still besides, the Qur'ān bestows fresh vitality. Ramadān brings back memories of the Quran's revelation, its days of collective study, and the periods of attention devoted to it by our predecessors. The Prophet ﷺ once advised: "Read the Qur'an for surely it will be an intercessor for you on the Day of Judgement." He also said; "The best of you are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it." And: Read the two flowers, Surah al Baqarah and Āl-ʿImrān. They will come as two clouds or as a barrier of crowded birds that would shade their readers on the Day of Judgement."
The Prophet ﷺ also said: "The one who reads the Qur'an and is expert in doing so will be with the noble and virtuous angels. And the one who reads the Qur'an and stutters with it, he will have two rewards."

ALLĀH DESCENDS TO ACCEPT OUR NIGHT PRAYERS
Al-Qahtānī said in an-Nūniyyah:
وَاللَّهُ يَنْزِلُ كُلَّ آخِرِ لَيْلَةٍ
And ALLĀH descends during the last portion of every night
To HIS closest sky without any concealment
He says: Is there anyone asking so that I can answer him?
For I am Close, answering whoever calls ME
The One True God forbade that you describe HIS Essence
Indeed, describing and comparisons are both rejected.

HASTENING TO BREAK THE FAST
Sahl ibn Sa’d reported: The Prophet ﷺ said, “People will continue in goodness as long as they hasten to break their fast.”
{al-Bukhārī #1957}
Anas ibn Malik narrated: "The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ used to break his fast before praying ˹maghrib˺ with some fresh dates; but if there were no fresh dates, he had a few dry dates, and if there were no dry dates, he took some mouthfuls of water."
{Abu Dawūd #2356}
The scholars have mentioned some reasons why it is recommended to hasten to break the fast, including the following:
1⃣ To be different from the Jews and Christians.
2⃣ To follow the Sunnah.
3⃣ It is kinder to the fasting person and gives him more strength for worship.
4⃣To hasten to eat that which ALLĀH has permitted to him, for ALLĀH is generous and the one who is generous likes to see people enjoying his generosity. So HE likes HIS slaves to hasten to enjoy that which ALLAH has permitted to them as soon as the sun sets.
5⃣0⃣ QUESTIONS REGARDING THE FAST OF RAMADĀN
FASTING AND QUR'AN INTERCEDE FOR BELIEVERS
'Abdullah ibn Amr (May ALLĀH be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said, “Fasting and the Qur'an will intercede for the servant on the Day of Resurrection. Fasting will say: O Lord, I prevented him from food and desires during the day, so let me intercede for him. The Qur'an will say: O Lord, I prevented him from sleeping during the night, so let me intercede for him. Thus, they will both intercede for him.”

5⃣0⃣ QUESTIONS REGARDING THE FAST OF RAMADĀN
CLOTH YOURSELF WITH THE GARMENT OF PIETY
The poet says:
If a man does not dress himself in garments of piety,
It will strip him bare, even if he clothes himself.
And if the Dunya was continuous for its inhabitants,
The Messenger of ALLĀH would have been alive and eternal.
But it will perish along with its pleasures,
And sins and disobedience will remain as it was ˹committed˺.
Our Lord! Forgive our sins, absolve us of our misdeeds, and join us with the virtuous when we die.

RAMADĀN: AN OPPORTUNITY TO MOVE AHEAD IN RACE FOR JANNAH
Abu Huraira (May ALLĀH be pleased with him) reported: There were two men from the tribe of Quda’ah who embraced Islam with the Prophet ﷺ One of them was martyred and the other lived for another year.
Talhah (May ALLĀH be pleased with him) said, “I had a dream of Paradise and I saw the one who lived longer enter Paradise before the martyr. I was amazed by that so when I woke up, I mentioned it to the Prophet.”
The Prophet ﷺ said, “Did he not fast the month of Ramadān after him? And he performed six thousand or so bowings in prayer throughout the year?”
{Musnad Aḥmad #8399}
In a narration by Ibn Majah, the Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said: “The difference between them is greater than the difference between heaven and earth.”

Alif-Lām-Mīm-Rā. These are the verses of the Book; and what has been revealed to you from your Lord is the truth, but most of the people do not believe.
It is ALLĀH Who has raised the heavens without pillars—as you can see—then established HIMSELF on the Throne. HE has subjected the sun and the moon, each orbiting for an appointed term. HE conducts the whole affair. HE makes the signs clear so that you may be certain of the meeting with your Lord.
{Ar-Rad: Verse 1-2}
SUPPLICATION AT BREAKING FAST IS NEVER REJECTED
Abdullah ibn Amr (may ALLĀH be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said: "Verily, the supplication of a fasting person is not turned away at the time of breaking fast ."
Abdullah would say when breaking fast, "O ALLĀH, I ask YOU by YOUR mercy, which encompasses all things, to forgive me."
{Sunan Ibn Mājah #1753}
"O you who fast, know that the final hour before the setting of the sun is one of the greatest hour of the day. Before the breaking of the fast when hunger has become acute and your thirst more intense, make much supplications, increase your yearning and continue to ask. Note that that there is also an hour before daybreak for you who fast. Therefore be good to yourself and ask from the Ever-Living the Self-Subsisting because you are poor and HE is Rich, you are weak and HE is Strong."

THE SUPERIORITY OF RAMADĀN
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"When the first night of the month of Ramadān comes, the devils and rebellious jinn are chained up and the gates of Hell are closed, and not one gate of it is opened. The gates of Paradise are opened and not one gate of it is closed. And a caller cries out: ‘O seeker of good, proceed; O seeker of evil, desist. And ALLĀH has those whom HE redeems from the Fire, and that happens every night.”
{Sunan al-Tirmidhī #682}
Sheikh Salīh al-Fawzān حفظه الله said: “This hadith is evidence for the virtue of the month of Ramadān and the greatness of its special qualities. ALLĀH, the Most High, favored it over all other months, and singled it out with characteristics that are not found in other than it; making it a reason to perform righteous actions, kindness and goodness.”

5⃣0⃣ QUESTIONS REGARDING THE FAST OF RAMADĀN
NOTHING IS SIMILAR TO FAST IN REWARDS AND IT'S A PROTECTION FROM HELLFIRE
Abu Umamah reported:
I said, “O Messenger of ALLĀH (ﷺ), tell me a deed to do.” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Take to fasting, for there is nothing equal to it.”
{An-Nasa'i, 2223}
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Whoever fasts a day in the way of ALLĀH, ALLĀH will make a trench between him and the Hellfire whose distance is like that between the heavens and the earth.”

50 Questions Regarding The Fast of Ramadān
TRUE FEAR OF ALLĀH RESULTS IN ALL GOOD
My Son, when fear of ALLĀH is real, you shall see all good. A person who truly fears his Lord does not care about others and does not put himself in a position where his religion is at risk. Whoever takes care of ALLĀH’s limits shall be taken care of by HIM. ALLĀH’s messenger ﷺ said to Ibn ‘Abbas: “Safeguard ALLĀH and HE will safeguard you. Safeguard ALLĀH and you will find HIM in front of you.” {Tirmidhi #2516}
Do not forget, my son, that it was the good deeds that Yunus had in store that saved him from hardship. ALLĀH Mighty and Sublime says:
فَلَوۡلَاۤ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَبِّحِینَ لَلَبِثَ فِی بَطۡنِهِۦۤ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ یُبۡعَثُونَ
Had he not been of them who glorify ALLĀH, he would have remained inside its belly till the day they will be resurrected.
[As-Saffat: 143-144]
It was also the evil deeds that Fir‘aun had stored for himself that rendered him unable to find an escape when disaster befell him. He was told:
Is it now you believe while having disobeyed before. {Yunus: 91}
So store good deeds arising from taqwa for yourself and you shall see the results.
It was reported in a hadith that the Prophet ﷺ said: “There is no youth who fears ALLĀH in his youth except that ALLĀH raises him in status when he is old.” {Hilyatul Awliya, 4/139}
ALLĀH Most High says:
وَلَمَّا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُۥۤ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُ حُكۡمࣰا وَعِلۡمࣰاۚ وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ
And when he attained manhood, WE gave him wisdom and knowledge. Thus WE reward the doers of good. {Yūsuf: 22}
And
Truly, he who fears ALLĀH and has patience, then surely, ALLĀH does not let the reward of the good doers be lost. {Yusuf: 90}

Abu Huraira reported:
The Messenger of ALLĀH (ﷺ) said: "The nearest a servant comes to his Lord is when he is prostrating himself, so make supplication (in this state)."
{Muslim #482}
Sheikh Uthaymīn (may ALLĀH have mercy on him) stated: "This is because he has placed his forehead (face) - the highest and most honourable part of his body - down into the ground where people treat upon with their feet, in doing so he demonstrates the perfection of subservience to ALLĀH.
The one standing up is actually higher up physically than the one down in prostration, however since the prostrating one humbled himself to ALLĀH, consequently ALLĀH raised him and so he is actually closer to ALLĀH.
So if is appropriate you make plentiful supplication in these prostrations - whether obligatory or supererogatory prayers -, and you supplicate for whatever you wish (after completing the prescribed supplications) as long as it's not a sin or cutting the ties of kinship.

INVOCATION UPON THE MESSENGER OF ALLĀH ﷺ ON FRIDAY
It was narrated that Aws ibn Aws said: The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said:
"One of the best of your days is Friday. On it, Adam was created and on it he died. On it the Trumpet will be blown and on it all of creation will swoon. So send a great deal of blessings upon me on that day, for your blessings will be shown to me."
They said: O Messenger of ALLĀH, how will our blessings upon you be shown to you when you have turned to dust?
He ﷺ said: "ALLĀH has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets."
{Abu Dawūd #1047}
The points which are to be understood from the above hadeeth are:
1⃣ The bodies of Prophets never become decayed, because the earth cannot consume them;
2⃣ They are alive in their graves but not in the same sense as they were in this world. The correct creed is, that Muslims must believe that the Prophets are alive, but what kind of life they live is unknown, and we are not to inquire about it;
3⃣ There is no evidence which can prove that they hear the speech and salutations made to them directly. However, what is clearly mentioned in the hadeeth is, that ALLĀH has appointed the angels to collect the speech and salutations from the people, and bring it to the Messenger of ALLĀH As the following hadeeth explains,
It is reported that the Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said:
"ALLĀH has angels who travel about in the earth and convey to me greetings from my people."
{Nasā'i #1282}
It is the duty of the angels to carry the invocations of the people to the Messenger of ALLĀH. Therefore, there is no need for anyone to go to the grave of the Messenger of ALLĀH. In fact, the Messenger of ALLĀH disliked gatherings being made at his grave, as it is mentioned in the hadeeth,
Abu Hurayrah reported that he had heard the Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ say,
"Do not turn your houses into graves, and do not make my grave a place to gather for visitation, but invoke blessings upon me, for your blessing will reach me wherever you are."

DO NOT FAST DAYS BEFORE RAMADĀN, UNLESS A ROUTINE
Abu Huraira reported:
The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said, “Do not anticipate Ramadān by fasting one or two days before it begins, unless it is part of a man’s fasting routine, so let him fast that day.”
{Bukhari and Muslim}
Ammar ibn Yasir said: “Whoever fasts on the day concerning which there is doubt has disobeyed Abu’l-Qasim ﷺ.”
{At-Tirmidhi #686 and An-Nasa'i #2188}
Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymin said in his commentary on the hadith “Do not anticipate Ramadān by fasting one or two days before it begins…”:
“The scholars differed concerning this prohibition and whether it meant that this is haram or makruh. The correct view is that it means it is haram, especially on the day of doubt.”
{Sharh Riyadhus-Saliheen, 3/394}
The day of doubt is the thirtieth of Sha'bān if the new moon cannot be seen because of clouds etc. It is called the day of doubt because it could be the thirtieth of Sha’bān, or it could be the first day of Ramadān.

INVOCATION OF PEACE AND BLESSINGS UPON THE PROPHET ﷺ IN ABUNDANCE ON FRIDAY
Aus ibn Aus reports that the Prophet ﷺ said: "The most virtuous of your days is Jumu'ah. On that day, Adam was created and on that day he died, (on that day) the horn will be blown and the people will be dumbfounded! Increase your prayers upon me as your prayers upon me will be presented to me." The people said: "O Messenger of ALLĀH, how will our prayers be presented to you when you have passed away?" He said: "ALLĀH has prohibited the earth from eating the bodies of the Prophets."
{This is related by the five, except for al-Tirmidhi}
Ibn al-Qayyim (May ALLĀH have mercy on him) says:
"It is preferred to pray to ALLĀH to send blessings on the Prophet ﷺ during the day and night of Jumuah, as the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Invoke many prayers upon me during the day and night of Friday.'
"The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ is the leader of mankind, and Jumu'ah is the best of the days of the week. Prayers upon him during that day are a privilege (he deserves), which belongs to no one other than him.
"This act also has another wisdom, and that is that all of the good that has passed onto this Ummah, in this life and the Hereafter, has passed through him. ALLĀH has gathered the good of this life and the next life for this Ummah, and the greatest honor and success will be granted to them on Friday. On that day, they will be granted their houses and palaces in Paradise and that is the day they will be given more when they enter Paradise. It is a day of celebration for them in this life. It is also a day in which ALLĀH fulfills their needs and answers their prayers and requests in this world. They are aware of all of that and are able to attain it because of the Prophet ﷺ and it is through him (that they received these teachings); therefore, in gratitude and appreciation for the great blessings we received through him, we should send many prayers upon him during the day and night of Jumuʿah."
{Fiqh-us-Sunnah || 2/126}
May ALLĀH fill our hearts with love of His beloved Prophet ﷺ. May HE inspire our tongues to send much blessings on him ﷺ and guide us to lead our lives in accordance to his exalted and noble Sunnah.

THE JEWS PLOT TO KILL 'ISA (PEACE BE UPON HIM)
ALLĀH tells;
And they planned, but ALLĀH planned. And ALLĀH is the best of planners.
ALLĀH states that the Children of Israel tried to killIsa (peace be upon him) by conspiring to defame him and crucify him.
They complained about him to the king who was a disbeliever. They claimed that Isa (peace be upon him) was a man who misguided people, discouraged them from obeying the king, caused division, and separated between man and his own son. They also said other lies about Isa (peace be upon him), which they will carry on their necks, including accusing him of being an illegitimate son.
The king became furious and sent his men to capture Isa to torture and crucify him. When they surrounded
Isa's home and he thought that they would surely capture him, ALLĀH saved him from them, raising him up from the house to heaven.
ALLĀH put the image of 'Isa on a man who was in the house; when the unjust people went in the house while it was still dark, they thought that he was 'Isa. They captured that man, humiliated and crucified him. They also placed thorns on his head.
However, ALLĀH deceived these people. HE saved and raised HIS Prophet from them, leaving them in disarray in the darkness of their transgression, thinking that they had successfully achieved their goal.
ALLĀH made their hearts hard, and defiant of the truth, disgracing them in such disgrace that it will remain with them until the Day of Resurrection.
{Tafsir Ibn Kathīr}
As for those who believe and do good deeds—WE never require of any soul more than what it can afford—it is they who will be the residents of Paradise. They will be there forever.
WE will remove whatever bitterness they had in their hearts. Rivers will flow under their feet. And they will say, “Praise be to ALLĀH for guiding us to this. We would have never been guided if ALLĀH had not guided us. The messengers of our Lord had certainly come with the truth.” It will be announced to them, “This is Paradise awarded to you for what you used to do.”
{Al-A'rāf: Verse 42-43}
REASONS FOR INDULGING IN HARAM AND ITS CURE
Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyya (May ALLĀH have mercy on him) said:
"No one can indulge in unlawfulness except for two reasons, the first of which is failing to trust in ALLĀH, despite the fact that if one obeys HIM, he will surely be granted the best of lawful gains. The second reason is knowing that whoever abandons anything for the sake of ALLĀH, surely HE will grant him something better than what he has abandoned. Unfortunately, his vain desires surpass his patience and his inclination overpowers his mind. The first one has poor knowledge, and the second one has poor insight."

ETIQUETTE OF SUPPLICATING TO ALLĀH, AND MEANS TO ATTAINING HIS MERCY
ALLĀH said,
And call upon HIM with fear and hope
That is, fear of HIS punishment and hope of HIS reward, hoping that one’s deeds will be accepted and fearing that they will be rejected, not offering supplication in the manner of one who thinks that he is entitled to a response from his Lord, filled with self-admiration and raising himself above his station, or in the manner of one who is heedless and not focusing.
To sum up, the etiquette of supplication as mentioned in this verse is that one should be sincere in calling upon ALLĀH alone, which is indicated by offering supplication in private, concealing and hiding it. There should be both fear and hope, with no heedlessness, complacency or not caring about the response. This is part of offering supplication in the proper manner, because doing every act of worship properly means striving one’s best and doing it in a perfect manner with no shortcomings in any way. Hence ALLĀH says:
Indeed, the mercy of ALLĀH is near to the doers of good.
That is, in worshipping ALLĀH, and do kindness to the slaves of ALLĀH. The more a person strives to worship ALLĀH properly, the closer he is to the mercy of his Lord, and his Lord is closer to him by HIS mercy. This is obviously encouragement to strive to do well.

BE PREPARED TO RECEIVE THE BEST OF ALL MONTHS!
The month of Ramadān is the season of Divine Blessings. It is the month of purification and is meant for the annual renovation of the inner spiritual qualities. It is a golden opportunity for every Muslim to strengthen his Eemaan, purify his heart and soul, and remove the evil effects of the sins committed. The month invites a Muslim to minimize his mundane involvements and maximize the acts of worship. Therefore, one should plan his schedule for the month beforehand in other to spare maximum time for worship.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Verily, this month has presented itself to you. There is a night within it that is better than a thousand months. Whoever is deprived of it has been deprived of all good. None is deprived of its good but that he is truly deprived."
{Sunan Ibn Mājah #1644}
Just Imagine you’re given a month to spend in a goldmine and all you come out with is copper. Won’t you feel disappointed, perhaps stupid? That’s the metaphor for those who go into the month of Ramadān and get very little out of it.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Verily, Jibrīl came to me and he said: Whoever reaches the month of Ramadān and he is not forgiven, then he will enter Hellfire and ALLĀH will cast him far away, so say amin. I said amin ...”
{Sahih Ibn Hibban #907}
The month of Ramadān is full of enormous spiritual wealth, and treasure chests of rewards, rewards given to us on a golden plate and all it requires is some effort from our side. In fact, ALLĀH made it so easy for us that he locked up those devils so they don’t do their whisperings in our ears and stop us from making the most of Ramadān … what more do we want?!
We ask ALLĀH ﷻ to make us of those who will reach the blessed month of Ramadān and able to maximize the rewards therein, āmīn.

THE DISBELIEVERS DRIVEN TO HELL, THE BELIEVERS ADMITTED TO PARADISE
ALLĀH informs:
And those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups
That is, they will be driven violently, beaten with painful whips by the harsh and callous keepers of hell, to the worst and most terrifying place of detention, namely hell in which all torments are combined and all miseries are present. All happiness will disappear from them, as ALLAH says elsewhere:
یَوۡمَ یُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا
On the Day they will be fiercely shoved into the Fire of Hell. {Aṭ-Ṭūr: 13}
That is, they will be pushed forcefully, because of their refusal to enter it. They will be driven to it in groups, that is, in separate groups, each group according to their deeds, as the people in each group will be similar in the misdeeds they did. They will curse one another and disavow one another.
{Tafsir As-Sa'di}
ALLĀH tells,
But those who feared their Lord will be ushered to Paradise in groups
ALLĀH tells us about the blessed believers, who will be taken to Paradise in groups, one group after another, starting with the best of them:those who are closest to ALLĀH, then the most righteous, then the next best and the next best. Each group will be with others like them, Prophets with Prophets, the true believers with their peers, the martyrs with their counterparts, the scholars with their colleagues, every group composed of people of the same kind.

ORDERING FAITH AND ENCOURAGING SPENDING
ALLĀH the Exalted says,
Believe in ALLĀH and HIS Messenger and spend out of that in which HE has made you successive inheritors.
ALLĀH the Exalted and Blessed orders having perfect faith in HIM and in HIS Messenger, and that one should persist on this path adhering firmly to it. ALLĀH encourages spending from what HE has made mankind trustees of, the wealth that you - mankind - have, that HE has lent you. This wealth was in the hands of those before you and was later transferred to you. Therefore, O mankind, spend as ALLĀH commanded you from the wealth that HE entrusted to you for HIS obedience. Otherwise, HE will hold you accountable and punish you for your ignoring what HE HAS on you in this regard.
ALLĀH'S statement,
Out of that in which HE has made you successive inheritors.
indicates that you - mankind -- will surrender this wealth to someone else. In this case, those who will inherit from you might obey ALLĀH with their wealth, and thus acquire more happiness than you on account of what ALLĀH has granted them. They might disobey ALLĀH, and in this case you will have helped them commit evil and transgression.
Imam Ahmad recorded that Abdullah bin Ash-Shikhkhir said: "I came to ALLĀH'S Messenger as he was reciting
(Competition in ˹worldly˺ increase diverts you) and saying,
"The Son of Adam claims, 'My wealth, my wealth.' But is there anything belonging to you, except that which you consumed, which you used, or which you wore and then it became worn or you gave as charity and sent it forward."
Muslim also collected with the addition: "Other than that, you will go away from it and leave it behind for other people."

‘𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗺 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂; 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗽 𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗲, 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂.’ {Maryam: Verse 25}
Palm-trees are massive and an exhausted pregnant woman, can hardly shake its trunk during labour … and ALLĀH could drop the fresh-dates to her as a miracle without asking her to do anything, but HE still wanted her to make a move towards getting it:
Imam al-Qurtubi writes in the Tafsir of this: ‘This shows that even though sustenance is already pre-ordained, ALLĀH Almighty still requires the children of Adam to actively make a move to get it.’
[‘Jami li-Ahkam al-Qur’an’, 11/95].
Even if a task seems impossible … just make the move, ALLĀH will take care of the rest.
The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said: “Be eager for what benefits you, seek help from ALLĀH, and do not be frustrated. {Muslim #2664}
📹 O you who complain of the troubles of this life!
🎙️Shaykh Mansur al-Salimi
When that Day arrives, no one will dare speak except with HIS permission. And among them will be the wretched and the prosperous.
As for the wretched, they will be in the Fire, where they will be sighing and gasping.
Staying there forever, as long as the heavens and the earth will endure, except what your Lord wills. Surely your Lord does what HE intends.
And as for those who were ˹destined to be˺ prosperous, they will be in Paradise, staying there forever, as long as the heavens and the earth will endure, except what your Lord wills — a ˹generous˺ giving, without end.
{Hūd: Verse 105-108}
FORBIDDING CLAIMS OF PURITY FOR ONESELF
ALLĀH said,
So, do not claim yourselves to be pure
Forbidding one from ascribing purity and praising himself and thinking highly of his actions,
HE is most knowing of who fears HIM.
ALLĀH said in another Ayah,
Have you not seen those who claim themselves to be pure? Rather, ALLĀH purifies whom HE wills, and they will not be dealt with unjustly, even equal to the extent of a a thread ˹inside a date seed˺. {An-Nisā: 49}
In his Sahih, Muslim recorded that Muhammad bin Amr bin Ata said:
"I called my daughter, Barrah (the pious one), and Zaynab bint Abu Salamah said to me, The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ forbade using this name. I was originally called Barrah and he ﷺ said: "Do not ascribe purity to yourselves; ALLĀH knows best who the pious people among you are,"
They said,
What should we call her?'
He said: "Call her Zaynab"
Imam Ahmad recorded a Hadith from Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Bakrah, from his father who said,
"A man praised another man before the Prophet . The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said: "Woe to you, you have cut off the neck of your friend! (He repeated this), If one of you must praise a friend of his, let him say: "I think that so-and-so is this and that; ALLĀH knows best about him and I will never purify anyone before ALLĀH,"
if he knows his friend to be as he is describing him."
Al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah collected this Hadith.
{Tafsir Ibn Kathīr}
`Aisha narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said, "Do good deeds properly, sincerely and moderately, and receive good news because one's good deeds will not make him enter Paradise."
They asked, "Even you, O ALLĀH's Messenger ﷺ ?"
He ﷺ said, "Even I, unless and until ALLĀH bestows HIS pardon and Mercy on me."
{al-Bukhari #6467}
Imam Hakim and Imam Bayhaqi recorded (in summary):
A person worshipped ALLĀH for five hundred years on a mountain top. ALLĀH would provide for him water and a pomegranate daily. He had passed away while prostrating to ALLĀH.
In the Hereafter ALLĀH will say to him to enter Jannah through his mercy. This person will tell ALLĀH, rather I will enter Jannah through my good deeds.
So ALLĀH says to HIS angels: "Measure MY blessing upon him and his deeds" and he finds that the blessing of sight has encompassed his worship for five hundred years, and the blessing of the body remains a bounty upon him, so HE says: Enter MY servant into Hell. He will be dragged to Hell and call out, "Lord, by your mercy, let me enter Paradise."
Jibril (‘alayhis salam) then said to the Prophet ﷺ, ‘O Muhammad! Everything only occurs through the mercy of ALLĀH’"

Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was not a thing worth mentioning?
Indeed, WE created man from a sperm-drop mixture that WE may test him; and WE made him hearing and seeing.
Verily, WE guided to him the way, whether he ˹choose to˺ be grateful or ungrateful.
Indeed, WE have prepared for the disbelievers chains, shackles, and a blazing Fire.
Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup ˹of wine˺ whose mixture is of Kāfūr.
{Al-Insan: Verse 1-5}
THE QUR'AN IS A CURE AND A MERCY
ALLĀH said:
And WE send down of the Qur’ān that which is healing and mercy for the believers, but it increases the wrongdoers in nothing but loss.
The Qur’an contains healing and mercy, but that is not for everyone; rather it is only for those who believe in it and have knowledge of it. As for the wrongdoers who do not believe in it, or who do not act in accordance with it, its verses only increase them in loss, as proof is established against them by means of it.
The healing that is contained in the Qur’an is broad in scope, and offers healing for spiritual maladies such as doubt, ignorance, corrupt views, deviation and bad intentions. It also contains certain knowledge by means of which all doubts may be dispelled, and exhortation and reminders that dispel all desires that are contrary to the command of ALLĀH. It also offers healing from physical pain and sickness.
With regard to mercy, this refers to what the Qur’an contains of the means of attaining mercy and encouragement to pursue those means; when a person does those things, he will attain mercy, eternal happiness and reward in this world and the hereafter.
