AlBaseerah

But no! Rather you love the present life of this world. And neglect the Hereafter.

On that Day some faces will be radiant, looking at their Lord.

And some faces, that Day, will be contorted, thinking that some calamity is about to fall on them.

But no! ˹Beware of the day˺ when the soul reaches the collar bone ˹as it leaves˺, and it will be said: "Who can cure him?"

And the dying person realizes it is ˹their˺ time to depart, and ˹then˺ their feet are tied together ˹in a shroud˺.

To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession.

And he neither believed nor prayed! But on the contrary, he denied and turned away! And then he went to his people, swaggering ˹in pride˺.

Woe to you, and more woe!

Again, woe to you, and even more woe!

STERN WARNING AGAINST ABANDONING THE QUR'AN AND WAYS OF ABANDONING IT

ALLĀH tells:

The Messenger said: "O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Qur’ān as a thing abandoned."

ALLĀH tells how HIS Messenger and Prophet Muhammad ﷺ will say: "O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Qur’ān as a thing abandoned."

The idolators would not listen to the Qur'an, as ALLĀH says:

وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَا تَسْمَعُواْ لِهَـذَا الْقُرْءَانِ وَالْغَوْاْ فِيهِ

And those who disbelieve say: "Listen not to this Qur'an, and make noise in the midst of it." {Fussilat: 26}

When he would recite Qur'an to them, they would talk nonsense or speak about something else, so that they would not hear it.

This is a form of forsaking it and rejecting it, and not believing in it is the same as forsaking it, and not pondering its meanings and trying to understand it is the same as forsaking it, and not acting upon it and following its commandments and heeding its prohibitions is the same as forsaking it, and turning away from it in favor of poetry or other words or songs or idle talk or some other way is the same as forsaking it.

We ask ALLĀH, the Most Generous, the Bestower of bounty, the One Who is able to do what HE wills, to keep us safe from doing that which earns HIS wrath and to use us to do that which will earn HIS pleasure of preserving and understanding HIS Book, following its commandments night and day in the manner which HE loves and which pleases HIM, for HE is Generous and Kind

Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was not a thing worth mentioning?

Indeed, WE created man from a sperm-drop mixture that WE may test him; and WE made him hearing and seeing.

Verily, WE guided to him the way, whether he ˹choose to˺ be grateful or ungrateful.

Indeed, WE have prepared for the disbelievers chains, shackles, and a blazing Fire.

📹 A forgotten benefit: 'Whoever makes du'a for his parents five times a day has fulfilled their right'

🎙️Shaykh Aziz b. Farhan

Be grateful to ME and to your parents. To ME is the final destination. [31:14]

Sufyan ibn ʽUyaynah rahimahullah said: "Whoever prays the five prayers has been grateful to ALLĀH and whoever supplicates for his parents at the end of the prayers has been grateful to them."

In your sujood and before you say teslim to end the salah, never forget to mention these two duas for parents:

رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْحِسَابُ

Rabbana-ghfirlī wa liwālidayya wa lilmu'minīna yauma yaqūmul-hisāb

Our Lord! Forgive me, my parents, and the believers on the Day when the judgment will come to pass

ALLĀH DOES NOT LIKE THE ARROGANT

ALLĀH said,

Surely ALLĀH does not like whoever is arrogant and boastful

meaning, one who is proud and arrogant, insolent and boasts to others. He thinks that he is better than other people, thus thinking high of himself, even though he is insignificant to ALLĀH and hated by people.

Mujahid said that;
(boastful) means boasting about what he has, while he does not thank ALLĀH.

This Ayah indicates that such a person boasts with people about the bounty that ALLĀH has given him, but he is actually ungrateful to ALLĀH for this bounty.

Once a man asked the Prophet ﷺ: "O Messenger of ALLĀH, advise me.'

The Prophet ﷺ said: "Avoid lengthening the dress (below the ankles), for this practice is from arrogance. Verily, ALLĀH does not like arrogance."

{Tafsi‌r Ibn Kathīr}

Abdullāh ibn Mas’ud reported: The Prophet ﷺ said: "No one who has the weight of a seed of arrogance in his heart will enter Paradise."

A man said, "But a man likes to have nice clothes and nice shoes."

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Verily, ALLĀH is beautiful and HE loves beauty. Arrogance is to disregard the truth and to look down upon people."

WHAT TO DO FOR A DYING PERSON

When death approaches a person, those in his presence are required to do certain things, as described as follows:

1⃣ He should be gently but firmly prompted to utter the Shahadah (La ilāha illa-Allāh).

Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri narrated that: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Exthort your dying to say: 'La illāha illa-Allāh (None has the right to be worshipped but ALLĀH)'"

{Muslim #916 and others}

Mu’adh ibn Jabal reported: The Messenger of ALLĀH (ﷺ) said, "He whose last words are La illāha illa-Allāh (None has the right to be worshipped but ALLĀH), will enter Paradise."

{Abu Dāwūd #3116}

2⃣ The prompting should be done by commanding him and helping him to utter it himself.

Anas reported that ALLAH’S Messenger (ﷺ) visited a dying man of the Ansar and said to him: "0 my maternal uncle! Say, 'Laa ilāha illa-ALlāh' The man asked, 'Am I your maternal or paternal uncle?' The Prophet (ﷺ) replied, 'Maternal' He asked, 'Is it good for me to say, Laa ilāha illa-ALlāh'. He (ﷺ) replied, 'Yes!'"

{Ahmad #12543}

3⃣ Supplication should be sincerely made for him and to say good things that give him glad tidings.

Umm Salamah reported that ALLAH’S Messenger (ﷺ) said: "When you are present with a sick or dying person, say good things, because the angels endorse what you say (by saying amin)."

Umm Salamah added that when Abu Salamah died, she went to the Prophet (ﷺ) and told him, "O ALLĀH's Messenger (ﷺ)! Abu Salamah has passed away." He instructed her to say:

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلَهُ وَأَعْقِبْنِي مِنْهُ عُقْبَى حَسَنَةً

O ALLĀH! forgive me and him (Abu Salamah) and give me a better substitute than he.

So I said (this), and ALLĀH gave me in exchange Muhammad, who is better for me than him (Abu Salamah).

{Muslim #919}

4⃣ It is permissible for a Muslim to visit a dying disbeliever in other to call them to Islam.

Anas reported that a Jewish youth used to serve the Prophet (ﷺ). He (ﷺ) visited him in his fatal illness, sat by his head, and said to him, "Embrace Islam; embrace Islam!" The boy looked at his father (as if to take his permission), and he told him, “Obey Abu al-Qasim!” So he did, and then died. The Prophet (ﷺ) departed saying: "All praise be to ALLĀH who has saved him from the Fire."

He then commanded his companions: "Pray janazah for your companions."

VIRTUE OF SEEKING FORGIVENESS FOR THE BELIEVERS

ALLĀH said:

(Nūh said) My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my house a believer,

Ad-Dahhak said, "This means, my Masjid."

However, there is no harm in understanding the Ayah according to its apparent meaning, which would be that he supplicated for every person who entered his house who was a believer.

Then he said,

and all the believing men and women.

He supplicated for all of the believing men and women, and that includes those of them who were living and those of them who were dead. For this reason, it is recommended to supplicate like this, in following the example of Nuh, and that which has been reported in the narrations and well-known, legislated supplications.

{Tafsi‌r Ibn Kathīr}

Ubadah ibn al-Samit reported: The Messenger of ALLĀH (ﷺ) said, "Whoever seeks forgiveness for the believing men and women, ALLĀH will record a good deed for him by each man and woman."

{Musnad al-Sha‌mi‌yi‌n lil-T‌abarani #2118}

Abu Hurayrah reported: When the Messenger of ALLĀH (ﷺ) offered the funeral prayer he would say:

O ALLĀH forgive our living and our dead, those who are with us and those who are absent, our young and our old, our menfolk and our womenfolk. O ALLĀH, whomever you give life from among us give him life in Islam, and whomever you take way from us take him away in Faith. O ALLĀH, do not forbid us their reward and do not send us astray after them.

Allaahum-maghfir lihayyinaa, wa mayyitinaa, wa shaahidinaa, wa ghaa'ibinaa, wa sagheerinaa wa kabeerinaa, wa thakarinaa wa 'unthaanaa. Allaahumma man 'ahyaytahu minnaa fa'ahyihi 'alal-'Islaami, wa man tawaffaytahu minnaa fatawaffahu 'alal-'eemaani, Allaahumma laa tahrimnaa 'ajrahu wa laa tudhillanaa ba'dahu.

THE INTRICATE DYNAMICS OF ALLĀH'S DISCIPLINE

Ibn al-Qayyim (may ALLĀH have mercy on him) said:

"ALLĀH disciplines HIS believing servant whom HE loves and values with the smallest of sins and mistakes, such that he is always alert and cautious.

As for the one who has fallen from HIS sight and has become insignificant to HIM, HE leaves him to his sins, and with each sin, HE gives him a worldly blessing. The deceived one thinks that this is a favour upon him, he doesn't realise that this is the essence of humiliation by which ALLĀH intends a severe punishment, one without an end."

{Zaad al-Ma'ād}

PRACTICAL NOTES:

- Regularly reflect on your actions and seek improvement.

- Promptly repent for any mistakes or sins.

- Worldly favors may hide a path of humiliation, beware!

- Acknowledge blessings but remain humble.

- Strengthen your connection with ALLĀH through prayer and Taqwa.

EVERY LITTLE DEED MATTERS

Most people tend to think that the small actions we do daily are less relevant and that only enormous deeds done at certain times of the year, month and day have the power to affect the course of their status in the Sight of their Lord. This view is mistaken. Small actions are our lives and they create our future because life builds on a moment-by-moment basis, the same can be said of the Hereafter.

Often we wait for big occasions like Laylatul Qadr or the day of Arafah, the month of Ramaḍān or the First ten days of Dhul-Hijjah to amass good deeds by praying all night and making dua and dhikr all day. But we tend to overlook those thousands of little moments when doing seemingly insignificant everyday actions and words can add up drop by drop to make an ocean of rewards.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Don’t consider anything insignificant out of good things even if it is that you meet your brother with a cheerful countenance.”

[Muslim 2626]

And the same applies the other way round too.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Beware of minor sins. Verily, they pile upon a man until he is ruined.”

[Musnad Ah‌mad 3808]

So don’t undermine yourself, and don’t underestimate the value of even the smallest efforts. It could be an impermissible desire which you craved but then denied for ALLĀH's sake. It could be through joy which you bring to the heart of another Muslim, or a burden which you relieve him from, or a statement of truth which you bravely utter, or the suppressing of anger when you’re angered, or the covering of another person’s fault, or the feeding of a hungry person, or your ḥijāb, dear sister, which you courageously adopt, or that appreciative gesture towards your spouse, parents, friends, boss, teachers, local imam or any other good deed that is performed with sincerity.

As the great scholar, Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya (may ALLĀH have mercy on him) said: “It may happen that you are asleep and the rewards of good deeds are accumulating for you. Whether it be from a poor man you aided, a hungry person you fed, a sad person you made happy, or a distressed person whom you helped. Never belittle the amount of benefit any good deed can have even if it seems small.”

No one knows where his ‘moment’ lies, that moment which will bring about eternal happiness. So do not leave a stone unturned in its pursuit and do not belittle any good deed.

Let there be a good deed which you engage in every day with the intention that ‘perhaps this will be the deed which will save me’. ‘Perhaps this will be the turning point in the sight of my Lord’.

GREETING CHILDREN SAYING ASSALAMU ALAYKUM

‘Anas Ibn Malik (may ALLĀH be pleased with him) reported: "The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ would pass by young children and greet them ˹by saying˺ Assalamu Alaykum."

{al-Bukhārī #5893, Muslim #2168}

In this hadith, there is a clear example of the good manners of the Prophet ﷺ and his humility towards the young and the old.

Ibn Baal (may ALLĀH have mercy on him) said: "By greeting young children you train them in behaving well with good manners, and teach the nobles and the notables people to humble themselves and be gentle giving up their haughtiness."

{al-Tanwir}

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymin (may ALLĀH havr mercy on him) said: "Many people have become used not to greet young children with Assalamu Alaykum out of disdain, but this is contrary to the guidance of the Prophet, may peace and blessings of ALLĀH be upon him and his family."

VIRTUES OF THE MONTH OF SHA’BĀN

Sha'bān is the eighth Islamic month that comes between Rajab and Ramadān. Sha’bān is an introduction to the month of Ramadān and just like Ramadān – fasting and recitation of the Qur'ān has been prescribed within it to meet Ramadān by having ourselves prepared in obedience to the Most Merciful and it is also the month in which people's deeds are taken up to ALLĀH ﷻ.

The Prophet (ﷺ) used to fast frequently during this month. The number of fasts he used to observe in this month was more than any other month except for the month of Ramadān.

In a narration by the mother of the believers, A'ishah (may ALLĀH be pleased with her), she said; "I never saw the Prophet (ﷺ) fasting in a month so profusely as he did in the month of Sha’bān. He used to fast in that month leaving only a few days, rather, he used to fast almost the whole of the month."

{Bukhari #1833, Muslim #1956}

In another narration, Usama ibn Zaid reports that he asked the Prophet (ﷺ) "O Messenger of ALLĀH, I have seen you fasting in the month of Sha’bān so frequently that I have never seen you fasting in any other month." The Prophet (ﷺ) replied: "That (Sha’bān) is a month between Rajab and Ramadān which is neglected by many people. And It is the month in which people’s deeds are taken up to the Lord of the Worlds, and I would like my deeds to be taken up whilst I am fasting."

{al-Nasā’ī #2357}

So it is clear from the above narrations that this is indeed a very special month and it is highly recommended to fast as much as possible.

It is also said that the month of Rajab is the month for planting seeds, the month of Sha’bān is the month in which you water the seeds, and the month of Ramadān is the month of harvest; wherein the seeds bear fruit. How can we expect the seeds to bear fruit in Ramadān if we do not plant any seeds in the previous months?

However, it should be noted that it is not obligatory to fast during this month. One should only fast during this month if he can do so without bringing any harm to oneself. If one fears that fasting during this month will cause him to lose his strength or freshness of mind for the month of Ramadān then one should refrain from doing so since the obligatory fasts of Ramadān are more important. But still, we should strive to fulfill this Prophetic Sunnah to the best of our abilities which will insha ALLĀH bring us closer to ALLĀH, and prepare us both physically and mentally for the blessed month of Ramadān.

INVOCATION UPON THE MESSENGER OF ALLĀH ﷺ ON FRIDAY

It was narrated that Aws ibn Aws said: The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said:

"One of the best of your days is Friday. On it, Adam was created and on it he died. On it the Trumpet will be blown and on it all of creation will swoon. So send a great deal of blessings upon me on that day, for your blessings will be shown to me."

They said: O Messenger of ALLĀH, how will our blessings upon you be shown to you when you have turned to dust?

He ﷺ said: "ALLĀH has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets."

{Abu Dawūd #1047}

The points which are to be understood from the above hadeeth are:

1⃣ The bodies of Prophets never become decayed, because the earth cannot consume them;

2⃣ They are alive in their graves but not in the same sense as they were in this world. The correct creed is, that Muslims must believe that the Prophets are alive, but what kind of life they live is unknown, and we are not to inquire about it;

3⃣ There is no evidence which can prove that they hear the speech and salutations made to them directly. However, what is clearly mentioned in the hadeeth is, that ALLĀH has appointed the angels to collect the speech and salutations from the people, and bring it to the Messenger of ALLĀH As the following hadeeth explains,

It is reported that the Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said:

"ALLĀH has angels who travel about in the earth and convey to me greetings from my people."

{Nasā'i #1282}

It is the duty of the angels to carry the invocations of the people to the Messenger of ALLĀH. Therefore, there is no need for anyone to go to the grave of the Messenger of ALLĀH. In fact, the Messenger of ALLĀH disliked gatherings being made at his grave, as it is mentioned in the hadeeth,

Abu Hurayrah reported that he had heard the Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ say,

"Do not turn your houses into graves, and do not make my grave a place to gather for visitation, but invoke blessings upon me, for your blessing will reach me wherever you are."

WHEN IS THE HEART DEEMED SOUND?

The Almighty said:

"The day when their will not benefit ˹anyone˺ wealth or children but only one who comes to ALLĀH with a sound heart
"

{ash-Shu‘ara’: 88-89}

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim, may ALLĀH have mercy on him, said:

"A heart is never completely sound until it becomes devoid of five things:

1⃣ Shirk, i.e., ascribing partners to ALLĀH, which contradicts the belief in the oneness.

2⃣ Heresies that go against Sunnah, i.e., traditions and practices of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

3⃣ Desires that contradict the right commands of ALLĀH.

4⃣ Heedlessness that contradicts remembering ALLĀH.

5⃣ An inclination that contradicts self-denial and sincerity."

THE SOUL'S PRECEDENCE OVER THE BODY

Our body is mere clay:

وَبَدَأَ خَلۡقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنِ مِن طِینࣲ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ نَسۡلَهُۥ مِن سُلَـٰلَةࣲ مِّن مَّاۤءࣲ مَّهِینࣲ

And HE (ALLĀH) began the creation of man from clay. Then HE made his offspring from semen of worthless water.

{As-Sajdah: Verse 7-8}

It was worthless until ALLĀH gave it its true value, its soul:

ثُمَّ سَوَّىٰهُ وَنَفَخَ فِیهِ مِن رُّوحِهِۦۖ

Then HE fashioned him in due proportion, and breathed into him the soul.

{As-Sajdah: 9}

Human power and value are supplied by this divine connection, not by earthly bonds. Yet we all tend to focus on the earthly outer 'casing', ignoring our true essence.

May ALLĀH grant us insight.

ETIQUETTES OF SEEKING TO ENTER OTHERS' HOMES

1⃣ Not looking inside the house before permission to enter is given.

The Prophet ﷺ said: "It is not lawful for a Muslim man to look inside a house until he has been given permission."

{al-Adab al-Mufrad #1093}

2⃣ Saying salaam before asking permission to enter.

It was narrated that Rib‘i said: A man from Banu ‘Aamir told us that he asked permission to enter upon the Prophet ﷺ when he was in a house. He said: May I get in? The Prophet ﷺ said to his servant: "Go out to this man and teach him how to ask permission to enter. Say to him: Say: As-salaamu alaykum, may I come in?" The man heard him and said: As-salaamu alaykum, may I come in? The Prophet ﷺ gave him permission and he came in.

{Abū Dawu‌d #5177}

3⃣
It is essential to mention one’s name if the people inside the house ask who is there.

Jaabir ibn ‘Abdullah said: I came to the Prophet ﷺ and knocked on the door, and he said: "Who is there?" I said: It’s me. And he said: "Me, me?" as if he disliked that.

{al-Bukhaari #6250}

4⃣
It's Sunnah to avoid facing the door to prevent seeing inside the house. Instead, stand to the side, either on the right or left.

It was narrated from Talhah that Huzayl said: A man came and stood at the door of the Prophet ﷺ, asking permission to enter, and he stood at the door – ‘Uthmaan said: facing the door. The Prophet ﷺ said: "(Stand) like this or like this (i.e., to one side or other of the door), for seeking permission is enjoined only so as to prevent looking."

{Abū Dawu‌d #5174}

5⃣ One should seek permission to enter three times, unless he is certain or thinks it is most likely that the people inside the house did not hear him.

The Prophet ﷺ said: "If one of you seeks permission to enter three times but is not given permission, let him go back.”

{al-Bukhāri #6245}

An-Nawawi said: "If he is sure that they did not hear him, because the place is far away or the like, then what appears to be the case is that there is nothing wrong with trying more than that. The hadith applies to one who does not think that they did not hear him."

{al-Majmoo‘ 4/622}

Permission to enter is waived in urgent situations like rescues or preventing imminent harm, such as stopping crimes like murder or adultery or raiding places of immorality or alcohol production.

6⃣ Entering aggressively, banging on the door, or ringing the bell forcefully is impolite and should be avoided. Be quiet and gentle if you enter a place where people are sleeping, whether during the day or night.

It was narrated that Anas ibn Maalik said: "People used to knock on the doors of the Prophet ﷺ with their fingernails."

{al-Adab al-Mufrad #1080}

Al-Miqdad ibn al-Aswad said: "We used to keep for the Prophet ﷺ  his share of milk, and when he would come at night he would greet us with a voice loud enough for those awake to hear, without disturbing those who were asleep."

{Muslim #2055}

7⃣ If a person is not given permission to enter, he should go back without getting upset, because ALLĀH says:

وَإِن قِیلَ لَكُمُ ٱرۡجِعُوا۟ فَٱرۡجِعُوا۟ۖ هُوَ أَزۡكَىٰ لَكُمۡ
"And if it is said to you, Go back, then go back; it is purer for you."

{an-Nūr: Verse 28}

8⃣ The requirement to seek permission to enter is not waived if the people are not in the house, because ALLĀH says:

فَإِن لَّمۡ تَجِدُوا۟ فِیهَاۤ أَحَدࣰا فَلَا تَدۡخُلُوهَا حَتَّىٰ یُؤۡذَنَ لَكُمۡۖ
"If you find no one at home, do not enter it until you have been given permission."

{an-Nūr: Verse 28
}

9⃣ If someone enters before being granted permission to do so, it is permissible to make him leave.

Kaladah ibn Hanbal narrated Safwaan ibn Umayyah sent him to the Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ with some milk, young gazelle meat and small cucumbers, when the Prophet ﷺ was in the upper part of Makkah. I entered but I did not say salaam. He said: "Go back and say: "'As-salaamu ‘alaykum.'"

May ALLĀH grant us the understanding and implementation.

A LIFE BETTER THAN THE LIVES OF KINGS.

Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyya (رحمه الله) said:

"Rushing towards ALLAAH ﷻ and depending on HIM, being pleased with HIM, filling the heart with love of HIM, constantly remembering HIM, feeling happiness and joy with knowing HIM – all of these are instantaneous rewards, a paradise of this world, and a life that the lives of kings cannot even compare to."

[al-Waabil as-Sayyib’: Page 44]

PRACTICAL NOTES

- Prioritize seeking closeness to ALLĀH.

- Find joy in undertaking religious obligations, fostering a sense of fulfillment and purpose.

- Acknowledge that true success and happiness lies in amassing deeds that please ALLĀH, not from acquiring material possessions.

- Seek guidance through supplication and reliance on ALLĀH in times of need.

A CAUSE OF NULLIFYING GOOD DEEDS

The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever misses ’Asr prayer, it is as if he has lost his family and property."

{al-Bukhari #552}

He ﷺ also said: "Whoever abandoned the ‘Asr prayer, all his good deeds will be annulled."

{al-Bukhari #553}

This is the punishment for someone who misses one obligatory prayer, so what about someone who is used to abandoning prayer?!

There is no doubt that the loss will be great unless ALLĀH includes him under HIS mercy.

REMEMBER THE DESTROYER OF PLEASURE

Imam Shafi’i رحمه الله said as part of a longer poem:

وكم من فتى أمسى و أصبح ضاحكا
How many a youth spend their evenings and mornings laughing

And his shroud has been woven whilst he doesn’t know

Increase in Taqwa for indeed you don’t know

When the darkness covers you, will you live till the dawn?

May ALLĀH grant us long lives upon goodness.

THE CAUSE OF AFFLICTION IS SIN

ALLAH says:

Whatever affliction befalls you is because of what your own hands have committed.

Here ALLĀH tells us that no calamity befalls people, affecting their health, property, children and what they love and is dear to them, but it is because of what their own hands have sent forth of evil deeds

And HE pardons much.

what ALLĀH pardons is much more than that. ALLĀH does not wrong people; rather they wrong themselves.

Say (O Prophet), “I I hold not for myself ˹the power of˺ benefit or harm, except what ALLĀH has willed. If I had known the unseen, I would have benefited myself enormously, and no harm would have ever touched me. I am only a warner and deliverer of good news for those who believe.”

HE is the One Who created you from a single soul, then from it made its spouse so he may find comfort in her. After he had been united with her, she carried a light burden (i.e., a pregnancy) that developed gradually. When it grew heavy, they prayed to ALLĀH, their Lord, “If YOU grant us good offspring, we will certainly be grateful.”

But when HE gives them a good ˹child˺, they ascribe partners to HIM concerning that which HE has given them. Exalted is ALLĀH above what they associate with HIM.

Do they associate with HIM those who create nothing and they are ˹themselves˺ created?

TRUE BELIEVERS SHALL BE SUPERIOR

ALLĀH says, encouraging HIS believing slaves, strengthening their resolve and raising their spirits:

وَلَا تَهِنُواْ وَلَا تَحۡزَنُواْ
So do not weaken or grieve

that is, do not weaken physically, and do not let your hearts be filled with grief because of the calamity that has befallen you and the trial you have gone through. Grief in the heart and physical weakness will only make the calamity worse for you and give your enemy an advantage over you. Rather you should be of good courage and be steadfast, ward off grief and strengthen your resolve to fight your enemy.

Here ALLĀH tells them that it is not appropriate or befitting for them to lose heart and feel grief when they will overcome by virtue of their faith and hope of the support and reward of ALLĀH. The believer who is certain of what ALLĀH has promised of reward in this world and the hereafter should not feel like that. Hence ALLĀH says:

For you will be superior if you are ˹true˺ believers.

THE COMMAND TO MARRY AND ALLĀH'S PROMISE TO ENRICH THE ONE SEEKING CHASTITY THROUGH MARRIAGE

These clear Ayat include a group of unambiguous rulings and firm commands.

And marry the unmarried among you

This is a command to marry.

The Prophet ﷺ said: "O young men, whoever among you can afford to get married, let him marry, for it is more effective in lowering the gaze and protecting the private parts. Whoever cannot do that, then let him fast, for it is a protection for him."

This was recorded in the Two Sahihs from the Hadith of Ibn Masud.

In the Sunan, it was recorded from more than one person that the Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said: "Marry and have children, for I will be proud of you before the nations on the Day of Resurrection."

And the righteous among your male slaves and female slaves.

If they are poor, ALLĀH will enrich them out of HIS bounty.

Ali bin Abi Talhah reported from Ibn Abbas: "ALLĀH encouraged them to get married, commanded both free men and servants to get married, and HE promised to enrich them."

It was recorded that Ibn Masud said:
"Seek the richness through marriage, for ALLĀH says:

وَالصَّالِحِينَ مِنْ عِبَادِكُمْ وَإِمَايِكُمْ
If they be poor, ALLĀH will enrich them out of His bounty"
{Ibn Jarir}

It was reported from Al-Layth from Muhammad bin Ajlan from Sa`id Al-Maqburi from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said: "There are three whom it is a right upon ALLĀH to help: one who gets married seeking chastity; a slave who makes a contract with his master with the aim of buying his freedom; and one who fights for the sake of ALLĀH."

This was recorded by Imam Ahmad, At-Tirmidhi, An-Nasa'i and Ibn Majah.

The Prophet performed the marriage of a man who owned nothing but his waist wrap, and could not even buy a ring made of iron, but he still married him to that woman, making the Mahr his promise to teach her whatever he knew of the Qur'an.

And it is known from the generosity and kindness of ALLĀH that HE provided him with whatever was sufficient for her and for him.

📕 THE FRIENDS OF ALLĀH & THE FRIENDS OF SHAYTAN

👤 SHAYKHUL-ISLAM IBN ‘TAYMIYYAH

Presented to the reader is the book. al-Furqan bayna arRahman wa awliya’ ash-Shaytan’' at a time in which Shaytan has overcome the majority of mankind and knowledge of the differences between the awliya’ of the Most Merciful and the awliya of Shaytan is seldom found.’

In it, the author explained, in detail, the most important differences between the two categories of awhya’, tackling the subject from various different angles and thoroughly refuting those who have gone astray in this matter. He discussed the issue of miracles and furnished the principles he laid out with examples of miracles performed by both groups of the awliya’. Furthermore, he clarified some of the most important aspects of the Muslim belief, in all of this depending entirely upon the Book, Sunnah and understanding of the Salaf.

May ALLĀH have mercy upon him and reward him well.
