FORMS OF REVELATION TO THE PROPHET ﷺ

Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya (May ALLĀH have mercy on him) mentioned: "ALLĀH granted Prophethood to the Prophet ﷺ in several stages.

1⃣ The Prophet ﷺ used to see a dream and it would come true, as bright and truthful as the daybreak.

2⃣ The angel Jibril (peace be upon him) used to inspire the Prophet's heart, without the Prophet ﷺ seeing him.

3⃣ The angel used to come to ALLĀH'S Apostle ﷺ in the shape of a man and would speak to him, until the Prophet ﷺ would comprehend what he wanted to convey to him.

4⃣ The angel would come upon the Prophet ﷺ as the ringing of a bell. This was the hardest form of revelation.

5⃣ The Prophet ﷺ saw the angel in the original shape ALLĀH created him in, and the angel then inspired the Prophet ﷺ with what ALLĀH decided to inspire him with.

6⃣ ALLĀH ﷺ revealed to the Prophet what HE willed, while the Prophet ﷺ was above heavens during the night of Israa and [Mi'raj], such as ordaining prayer on him.

7⃣ ALLĀH spoke to the Prophet ﷺ without sending the revelation through an angel.

Some scholars added an eighth form of revelation. They said that ALLĀH spoke directly to the Prophet ﷺ without a barrier, meaning by removing all of HIS Veils, between them. This is the opinion of those who said that the Prophet ﷺ saw ALLĀH [during Lailatul-Israa wa-l-Mi'raj]. However, there is a difference of opinion between the Salaf and the Khalaf on this matter. Most of the companions, rather, all of them agree with Aishah [that the Prophet ﷺ did not see his Lord during the night of Israa]

DO NOT FAST DAYS BEFORE RAMADĀN, UNLESS A ROUTINE

Abu Huraira reported:

The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said, “Do not anticipate Ramadān by fasting one or two days before it begins, unless it is part of a man’s fasting routine, so let him fast that day.”

{Bukhari and Muslim}

Ammar ibn Yasir said: “Whoever fasts on the day concerning which there is doubt has disobeyed Abu’l-Qasim ﷺ.”

{At-Tirmidhi #686 and An-Nasa'i #2188}

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymin said in his commentary on the hadith “Do not anticipate Ramadān by fasting one or two days before it begins…”:

“The scholars differed concerning this prohibition and whether it meant that this is haram or makruh. The correct view is that it means it is haram, especially on the day of doubt.”

{Sharh Riyadhus-Saliheen, 3/394}

The day of doubt is the thirtieth of Sha'bān if the new moon cannot be seen because of clouds etc. It is called the day of doubt because it could be the thirtieth of Sha’bān, or it could be the first day of Ramadān.

INVOCATION OF PEACE AND BLESSINGS UPON THE PROPHET ﷺ IN ABUNDANCE ON FRIDAY

Aus ibn Aus reports that the Prophet ﷺ said: "The most virtuous of your days is Jumu'ah. On that day, Adam was created and on that day he died, (on that day) the horn will be blown and the people will be dumbfounded! Increase your prayers upon me as your prayers upon me will be presented to me." The people said: "O Messenger of ALLĀH, how will our prayers be presented to you when you have passed away?" He said: "ALLĀH has prohibited the earth from eating the bodies of the Prophets."

{This is related by the five, except for al-Tirmidhi}

Ibn al-Qayyim (May ALLĀH have mercy on him) says:

"It is preferred to pray to ALLĀH to send blessings on the Prophet ﷺ during the day and night of Jumuah, as the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Invoke many prayers upon me during the day and night of Friday.'

"The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ is the leader of mankind, and Jumu'ah is the best of the days of the week. Prayers upon him during that day are a privilege (he deserves), which belongs to no one other than him.

"This act also has another wisdom, and that is that all of the good that has passed onto this Ummah, in this life and the Hereafter, has passed through him. ALLĀH has gathered the good of this life and the next life for this Ummah, and the greatest honor and success will be granted to them on Friday. On that day, they will be granted their houses and palaces in Paradise and that is the day they will be given more when they enter Paradise. It is a day of celebration for them in this life. It is also a day in which ALLĀH fulfills their needs and answers their prayers and requests in this world. They are aware of all of that and are able to attain it because of the Prophet ﷺ and it is through him (that they received these teachings); therefore, in gratitude and appreciation for the great blessings we received through him, we should send many prayers upon him during the day and night of Jumuʿah."

{Fiqh-us-Sunnah || 2/126}

May ALLĀH fill our hearts with love of His beloved Prophet ﷺ. May HE inspire our tongues to send much blessings on him ﷺ and guide us to lead our lives in accordance to his exalted and noble Sunnah.

THREE QUALITIES FOR SUCCESS

‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr (May ALLĀH be pleased with him) narrated that ALLĀH’s Messenger ﷺ said: “He has succeeded who embraced Islam, whose provision is sufficient, and whom ALLĀH has made content with what HE has given him.” {Muslim #1054}

Shaykh ‘Abdur-Rahman as-Sa'di explained:

The Prophet mentions that whoever gathers these three qualities will have ‘falah’ (success). This term comprises of everything a person seeks and loves whilst being safe from everything disliked.

Falah is attained because these three matters combine the good of both religion and the dunya. If one is guided to Islam, the only acceptable religion to ALLĀH, has sufficient provision to suffice their needs, and is content with what ALLĀH has given them, then they have attained the good of this world and the next.

If they are not guided to Islam then their end result will be eternal wretchedness regardless of their current situation. If they are guided to Islam but are trialled with poverty that causes them to forget blessings or riches that leads to transgression then both are harmful and a great deficiency. If they have sufficient provisions but are not content with that then they are poor in the heart. How many are rich financially but poor in their hearts and how many are poor financially but their hearts are rich and happy due to how content they are?

HASTENING TO BREAK THE FAST

Sahl ibn Sa’d reported: The Prophet ﷺ said, “People will continue in goodness as long as they hasten to break their fast.”

{al-Bukhārī #1957}

Anas ibn Malik narrated: "The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ used to break his fast before praying ˹maghrib˺ with some fresh dates; but if there were no fresh dates, he had a few dry dates, and if there were no dry dates, he took some mouthfuls of water."

{Abu Dawūd #2356}

The scholars have mentioned some reasons why it is recommended to hasten to break the fast, including the following:

1⃣ To be different from the Jews and Christians.

2⃣ To follow the Sunnah.

3⃣ It is kinder to the fasting person and gives him more strength for worship.

4⃣To hasten to eat that which ALLĀH has permitted to him, for ALLĀH is generous and the one who is generous likes to see people enjoying his generosity. So HE likes HIS slaves to hasten to enjoy that which ALLAH has permitted to them as soon as the sun sets.

'Abdullah ibn Amr (May ALLĀH be pleased with him) reported:

The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said, “Fasting and the Qur'an will intercede for the servant on the Day of Resurrection. Fasting will say: O Lord, I prevented him from food and desires during the day, so let me intercede for him. The Qur'an will say: O Lord, I prevented him from sleeping during the night, so let me intercede for him. Thus, they will both intercede for him.”

ELEGY AND PRAISE FOR THE PROPHET ﷺ BY SAFIYYAH BINT ABDUL MUTTALIB (May ALLĀH be pleased with her)

The Prophet ﷺ Safiyyah (May ALLĀH be pleased with her) loved each other very much because they were brought up together in the same house, Therefore, when the Prophet ﷺ away from this world, she was deeply shocked. The few verses of the elegy composed on the occasion is:

أَلَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كُنْتَ رَجَاءَنَا
Indeed, O Messenger of ALLĀH, you were our hope,

You were our benefactor and were not harsh.

You were merciful, a guide and a teacher,

May those who remain this day weep over your demise.

As ransom for the Messenger of ALLĀH, my mother and my aunt,

And my paternal and maternal uncle, then myself and my wealth.

And if the worldly life was continuous for its inhabitants,

The Messenger of ALLĀH would have been alive and eternal.

But it will perish along with its pleasures,

And sins and disobedience will remain as it was ˹committed˺.

Alas! Had the Lord of mankind spared our Prophet,

We would be joyous, but his matter was already decreed.

May ALLĀH's peace and greetings be upon you,

And you be admitted to gardens of Eden
.

ETIQUETTE OF SUPPLICATING TO ALLĀH, AND MEANS TO ATTAINING HIS MERCY

ALLĀH said,

And call upon HIM with fear and hope

That is, fear of HIS punishment and hope of HIS reward, hoping that one’s deeds will be accepted and fearing that they will be rejected, not offering supplication in the manner of one who thinks that he is entitled to a response from his Lord, filled with self-admiration and raising himself above his station, or in the manner of one who is heedless and not focusing.

To sum up, the etiquette of supplication as mentioned in this verse is that one should be sincere in calling upon ALLĀH alone, which is indicated by offering supplication in private, concealing and hiding it. There should be both fear and hope, with no heedlessness, complacency or not caring about the response. This is part of offering supplication in the proper manner, because doing every act of worship properly means striving one’s best and doing it in a perfect manner with no shortcomings in any way. Hence ALLĀH says:

Indeed, the mercy of ALLĀH is near to the doers of good.

That is, in worshipping ALLĀH, and do kindness to the slaves of ALLĀH. The more a person strives to worship ALLĀH properly, the closer he is to the mercy of his Lord, and his Lord is closer to him by HIS mercy. This is obviously encouragement to strive to do well.

THE EXCELLENCE OF SIYAM (FASTING)

Abu Hurairah (May ALLĀH be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said:

"ALLĀH the Exalted and Majestic said: 'Every act of the son of Adam is for him, except As-Siyam (the fasting) which is (exclusively) for ME, and I will reward him for it.' Fasting is a shield. When anyone of you is observing fast, he should neither indulge in obscene language nor should he raise his voice; and if anyone reviles him or tries to quarrel with him, he should say: 'I am fasting.' By HIM in Whose Hand the soul of Muhammad is, the breath of one observing Saum is sweeter to ALLĀH than the fragrance of musk. The one who fasts, experiences two joys: he feels pleasure when he breaks the fast. HE is joyful by virtue of his fast when he meets his Rubb.''

{Al-Bukhari and Muslim}

In a narration by Al-Bukhari, the Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said: "ALLĀH says: '(The person observing Saum) has abstained from food and drink, and sexual pleasures for MY sake; fasting is for ME, and I will bestow its reward. Every good deed has ten times its reward'.''

In a narration by Muslim, the Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said: "The reward of every (good) deed of a person is multiplied from ten to seven hundred times. ALLĀH says: 'The reward of observing Saum is different from the reward of other good deeds; Saum is for ME, and I Alone will give its reward. The person observing Saum abstains from food and drink only for MY sake.' The fasting person has two joyous occasions, one at the time of breaking his fast, and the other at the time of meeting his Rubb. Surely, the breath of one observing Saum is better smelling to ALLĀH than the fragrance of musk.''

{Riyadhus-Saliheen: Book 9, Chapter 217, Hadith 1215}

COMMENTARY:

 "Khuluf'', is the smell that comes from the mouth of person who observes Saum. It results from the thirst and hunger which he has to suffer during the Saum. The Hadith not only tells us the merits of Saum but also brings into focus the true significance of it. Saum is not thus mere abstention from food, drink and sexual intercourse, but also keeping away from all evils and vices and embracing virtues.

THE DISBELIEVERS DRIVEN TO HELL, THE BELIEVERS ADMITTED TO PARADISE

ALLĀH informs:

And those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups

That is, they will be driven violently, beaten with painful whips by the harsh and callous keepers of hell, to the worst and most terrifying place of detention, namely hell in which all torments are combined and all miseries are present. All happiness will disappear from them, as ALLAH says elsewhere:

یَوۡمَ یُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا
On the Day they will be fiercely shoved into the Fire of Hell. {Aṭ-Ṭūr: 13}

That is, they will be pushed forcefully, because of their refusal to enter it. They will be driven to it in groups, that is, in separate groups, each group according to their deeds, as the people in each group will be similar in the misdeeds they did. They will curse one another and disavow one another.

{Tafsi‌r As-Sa'di}

ALLĀH tells,

But those who feared their Lord will be ushered to Paradise in groups

ALLĀH tells us about the blessed believers, who will be taken to Paradise in groups, one group after another, starting with the best of them:those who are closest to ALLĀH, then the most righteous, then the next best and the next best. Each group will be with others like them, Prophets with Prophets, the true believers with their peers, the martyrs with their counterparts, the scholars with their colleagues, every group composed of people of the same kind.

ORDERING FAITH AND ENCOURAGING SPENDING

ALLĀH the Exalted says,

Believe in ALLĀH and HIS Messenger and spend out of that in which HE has made you successive inheritors.

ALLĀH the Exalted and Blessed orders having perfect faith in HIM and in HIS Messenger, and that one should persist on this path adhering firmly to it. ALLĀH encourages spending from what HE has made mankind trustees of, the wealth that you - mankind - have, that HE has lent you. This wealth was in the hands of those before you and was later transferred to you. Therefore, O mankind, spend as ALLĀH commanded you from the wealth that HE entrusted to you for HIS obedience. Otherwise, HE will hold you accountable and punish you for your ignoring what HE HAS on you in this regard.

ALLĀH'S statement,

Out of that in which HE has made you successive inheritors.

indicates that you - mankind -- will surrender this wealth to someone else. In this case, those who will inherit from you might obey ALLĀH with their wealth, and thus acquire more happiness than you on account of what ALLĀH has granted them. They might disobey ALLĀH, and in this case you will have helped them commit evil and transgression.

Imam Ahmad recorded that Abdullah bin Ash-Shikhkhir said: "I came to ALLĀH'S Messenger as he was reciting

(Competition in ˹worldly˺ increase diverts you)
and saying,

"The Son of Adam claims, 'My wealth, my wealth.' But is there anything belonging to you, except that which you consumed, which you used, or which you wore and then it became worn or you gave as charity and sent it forward."

Muslim also collected with the addition: "Other than that, you will go away from it and leave it behind for other people."

Those who fear ALLĀH are not held accountable for them (i.e., the disbelievers) at all, but ˹their duty˺ is to remind them - that perhaps they will fear HIM.

And leave alone those who take their religion as play and amusement, and are deceived by the life of this world. But remind with it (i.e., the Qur’ān), lest a soul be given up to destruction for what it earned; it will have other than ALLĀH no protector and no intercessor. And if it should offer every compensation, it would not be taken from it (i.e., that soul). Those are the ones who will be ruined for what they have earned. They will have a boiling drink and painful punishment for their disbelief.

THE ORDER TO FAST

ALLĀH said:

O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you

Here ALLĀH tells us of the blessings that HE has bestowed upon HIS slaves by enjoining them to fast as HE enjoined it upon previous nations, because it is one of the laws and commands that are in the best interests of people in all times.

This verse also offers encouragement to this Ummah, that they should compete with others in striving to do perfect deeds and hastening to acquire righteous qualities; this is not something too burdensome which they have been singled out to do.

Then ALLĀH tells us of the wisdom behind the prescription of fasting, as HE says:

لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
That you may become pious.

Fasting is one of the greatest means of developing piety, because it involves obeying the command of ALLĀH and avoiding that which HE has forbidden.

Part of the piety that fasting involves is that the fasting person refrains from that which ALLĀH has forbidden to him of food, drink, intercourse and so on, to which he is naturally inclined, seeking thereby to draw closer to ALLĀH, hoping for HIS reward by giving up these things. This is part of piety. Piety also includes the following:

▫️ The fasting person trains himself to remember that ALLĀH is always watching, so he gives up things that he desires even though they may be available to him, because he knows that ALLĀH is watching him.

▫️ Fasting narrows the pathways of the Shaytan, who flows through the son of Adam like blood. Fasting weakens the Shaytan’s influence and reduces sins.

▫️The fasting person usually does many acts of worship and obedience, which are characteristics of piety.

▫️By fasting, the rich man feels the pain of hunger, which makes him inclined to help the poor and destitute. This is also a characteristic of piety.

THE QUR'AN LOVES RAMADĀN AND RAMADĀN LOVES THE QUR'AN

In Ramadān, the Noble Qur'ān has its own special taste and flavour. It offers exceptional inspiration and distinct rationales. Still besides, the Qur'ān bestows fresh vitality. Ramadān brings back memories of the Quran's revelation, its days of collective study, and the periods of attention devoted to it by our predecessors. The Prophet ﷺ once advised: "Read the Qur'an for surely it will be an intercessor for you on the Day of Judgement." He also said; "The best of you are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it." And: Read the two flowers, Surah al Baqarah and Āl-ʿImrān. They will come as two clouds or as a barrier of crowded birds that would shade their readers on the Day of Judgement."

The Prophet ﷺ also said: "The one who reads the Qur'an and is expert in doing so will be with the noble and virtuous angels. And the one who reads the Qur'an and stutters with it, he will have two rewards."

THE JEWS PLOT TO KILL 'ISA (PEACE BE UPON HIM)

ALLĀH tells;

And they planned, but ALLĀH planned. And ALLĀH is the best of planners.

ALLĀH states that the Children of Israel tried to killIsa (peace be upon him) by conspiring to defame him and crucify him.

They complained about him to the king who was a disbeliever. They claimed that Isa (peace be upon him) was a man who misguided people, discouraged them from obeying the king, caused division, and separated between man and his own son. They also said other lies about Isa (peace be upon him), which they will carry on their necks, including accusing him of being an illegitimate son.

The king became furious and sent his men to capture Isa to torture and crucify him. When they surrounded Isa's home and he thought that they would surely capture him, ALLĀH saved him from them, raising him up from the house to heaven.

ALLĀH put the image of 'Isa on a man who was in the house; when the unjust people went in the house while it was still dark, they thought that he was 'Isa. They captured that man, humiliated and crucified him. They also placed thorns on his head.

However, ALLĀH deceived these people. HE saved and raised HIS Prophet from them, leaving them in disarray in the darkness of their transgression, thinking that they had successfully achieved their goal.

ALLĀH made their hearts hard, and defiant of the truth, disgracing them in such disgrace that it will remain with them until the Day of Resurrection.

WHAT TO SAY WHEN SEEING A PERSON AFFLICTED IN HIS BODY OR RELIGION

Abu Hurayrah (May ALLĀH be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said:

“Whoever sees an afflicted person then says:

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِيْ عَافَانِيْ مِمَّا ابْتَلاَكَ بِهِ، وَفَضَّلَنِيْ عَلَى كَثِيْرٍ مِّمَّنْ خَلَقَ تَفْضِيْلًا

‘All praise is due to ALLĀH Who has saved me from that which HE has afflicted you with and blessed me greatly over many of those whom HE has created’

'Alhamdu lillaahil-lathee 'aafaanee mimmab-talaaka bihi wa fadhdhalanee 'alaa katheerin mimman khalaqa tafdheela.'

shall not be struck by that affliction.”

{At-Tirmithi #3432}

NOTES:

1⃣ The dua should be said when seeing a person with a bodily affliction (illness, disability etc.) or religious related affliction such as wrongdoing, oppression, innovation, disbelief and other than it.

2⃣ It should be said in a low voice when seeing a person with a bodily affliction so as to not upset them.

3⃣ The person afflicted in his religion (sins, innovation etc.) should be made to hear it if one wishes to rebuke him and it is hoped that he will rectify himself. However, if it is feared that it may cause harm or a greater evil then it should be said in a low voice.

THE SOUNDNESS OF THE FAST OF THE ONE WHO WOKE UP IN A STATE OF SEXUAL IMPURITY

A’ishah and Umm Salamah (May ALLĀH be pleased with them) narrated that: "The Prophet ﷺ used to wake up in a state of sexual impurity after having sexual intercourse. He would then take a bath and fast."

{Agreed upon}

In the hadith of Umm Salamah: “And he would not make up that day.”

{al-Bukhari #1925, #1926 and Muslim #1109}

The hadith is evidence that if the fasting person woke up in a state of sexual impurity - that Fajr came upon him and he was in that state due to sexual intercourse or a wet dream - then his fasting is correct; even if he did not bathe until after Fajr entered as long as he withheld from food, drink and other matters that break the fast having the intention at the beginning of the time of fasting.

Sexual impurity is: everything that necessitates a bath from ejaculation or sexual intercourse. ALLĀH, the Most High, said:

So now have sexual relations with them and seek that which ALLĀH has ordained for you (offspring), and eat and drink until the white thread of dawn appears to you distinct from the black thread.

{al-Baqarah: Verse 187}

When ALLĀH, the Most High, permitted sexual intercourse until Fajr appears distinctly, that necessitates that bathing would take place after the entrance of Fajr.

The qualifying that sexual impurity in the hadith was from sexual intercourse is to clarify that delaying the bath was his choice and not that something that necessitates a bath surprised him. This teaches that it is not obligatory to hasten the bath from sexual impurity; rather, it is permissible to delay it until Fajr enters.

‘A'ishah narrated that a man came to the Prophet ﷺ seeking his verdict - and she was listening from behind the door. He said: "O ALLĀH’s Messenger! (The time for) Salah comes upon me unexpectedly and I am in state of sexual impurity. Should I fast?" ALLĀH’s Messenger ﷺ said:

"Me too, (the time for) Salah comes upon me unexpectedly and I am in state of sexual impurity; and I fast."

He said: "You are not like us, O ALLĀH’s Messenger! ALLĀH has forgiven you for your past and future sins.” So he ﷺ said:

“I swear by ALLĀH! I hope I'm the most fearful of you about ALLĀH, and the most knowledgeable among you of those things I guard against."

{Muslim #110}

The menstruating woman and the one with post-natal bleeding, if her blood stops and she realizes that she is pure before Fajr, she should fast with the people even if she has not bathed before the entrance of Fajr because at that time she becomes from the people that fasting is obligatory upon. THE DEATH OF THE MESSENGER OF ALLĀH ﷺ IS THE GREATEST OF AFFLICTIONS

Ibn Abbas and Saabit Al-Jumahee (May ALLĀH be pleased with them) both related that the Prophet ﷺ said:

"If any of you is afflicted with a calamity, then let him remember his calamity by me (i.e., by my death); for indeed, it is the greatest of calamities."

{Shu’ab al-Imān lil-Bayhaqī #10152}

It becomes clear to us from this hadith that the death of the Prophet ﷺ is the greatest disaster that has occurred or will occur to the Muslim Nation. The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ requests that when we remember our calamities or afflictions, we should remember his death and his parting as well, a reflective process through which our other disasters will become insignificant in comparison.

Whenever we lost any of our relatives or loved-ones, we are sure to have felt the pain of parting and the anxiety of the farewell. The question now is this: Have we had any such feelings of sentiments when we contemplate the death of the Prophet ﷺ.

What would happen if a man were to lose his entire family; his heart would ache and bleed while his tears would pour forth profusely. He marries after a period, and after many years pass, one of his sons dies. What is his sadness and pain if compared to the first calamity; is not the new affliction less painful in degree? And with that perspective – i.e., by remembering the death of the Prophet – we should console ourselves whenever we are afflicted with a hardship.

RAMADĀN: AN OPPORTUNITY TO MOVE AHEAD IN RACE FOR JANNAH

Abu Huraira (May ALLĀH be pleased with him) reported: There were two men from the tribe of Quda’ah who embraced Islam with the Prophet ﷺ One of them was martyred and the other lived for another year.

Talhah (May ALLĀH be pleased with him) said, “I had a dream of Paradise and I saw the one who lived longer enter Paradise before the martyr. I was amazed by that so when I woke up, I mentioned it to the Prophet.”

The Prophet ﷺ said, “Did he not fast the month of Ramadān after him? And he performed six thousand or so bowings in prayer throughout the year?”

{Musnad Aḥmad #8399}

In a narration by Ibn Majah, the Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said: “The difference between them is greater than the difference between heaven and earth.”

FOUR TYPES OF PEOPLE

Khalil Ibn Ahmad said that there are four types of people:

رجل يدري ويدري أنه يدري فذلك عالم فاتبعوه
Those who KNOW and KNOW that they KNOW; they are the learned, so follow them.

Those who KNOW and DON’T KNOW that they KNOW; they are asleep, wake them up.

Those who DON’T KNOW and KNOW that they DON’T KNOW; they desire to learn, so teach them.

Those who DON’T KNOW and DON’T KNOW that they DON’T KNOW; they are ignorant, avoid them.

SUPPLICATION AT BREAKING FAST IS NEVER REJECTED

Abdullah ibn Amr (may ALLĀH be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said: "Verily, the supplication of a fasting person is not turned away at the time of breaking fast ."

Abdullah would say when breaking fast, "O ALLĀH, I ask YOU by YOUR mercy, which encompasses all things, to forgive me."

{Sunan Ibn Mājah #1753}

"O you who fast, know that the final hour before the setting of the sun is one of the greatest hour of the day. Before the breaking of the fast when hunger has become acute and your thirst more intense, make much supplications, increase your yearning and continue to ask. Note that that there is also an hour before daybreak for you who fast. Therefore be good to yourself and ask from the Ever-Living the Self-Subsisting because you are poor and HE is Rich, you are weak and HE is Strong."

THE SUPERIORITY OF RAMADĀN

The Prophet ﷺ said:

"When the first night of the month of Ramadān comes, the devils and rebellious jinn are chained up and the gates of Hell are closed, and not one gate of it is opened. The gates of Paradise are opened and not one gate of it is closed. And a caller cries out: ‘O seeker of good, proceed; O seeker of evil, desist. And ALLĀH has those whom HE redeems from the Fire, and that happens every night.”

{Sunan al-Tirmidhī #682}

Sheikh Salīh al-Fawzān حفظه الله said: “This hadith is evidence for the virtue of the month of Ramadān and the greatness of its special qualities. ALLĀH, the Most High, favored it over all other months, and singled it out with characteristics that are not found in other than it; making it a reason to perform righteous actions, kindness and goodness.”

NOTHING IS SIMILAR TO FAST IN REWARDS AND IT'S A PROTECTION  FROM HELLFIRE

Abu Umamah reported:

I said, “O Messenger of ALLĀH (ﷺ), tell me a deed to do.” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Take to fasting, for there is nothing equal to it.”

{An-Nasa'i, 2223}

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Whoever fasts a day in the way of ALLĀH, ALLĀH will make a trench between him and the Hellfire whose distance is like that between the heavens and the earth.”

TRUE FEAR OF ALLĀH RESULTS IN ALL GOOD

My Son, when fear of ALLĀH is real, you shall see all good. A person who truly fears his Lord does not care about others and does not put himself in a position where his religion is at risk. Whoever takes care of ALLĀH’s limits shall be taken care of by HIM. ALLĀH’s messenger ﷺ said to Ibn ‘Abbas: “Safeguard ALLĀH and HE will safeguard you. Safeguard ALLĀH and you will find HIM in front of you.” {Tirmidhi #2516}

Do not forget, my son, that it was the good deeds that Yunus had in store that saved him from hardship. ALLĀH Mighty and Sublime says:

فَلَوۡلَاۤ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَبِّحِینَ لَلَبِثَ فِی بَطۡنِهِۦۤ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ یُبۡعَثُونَ
Had he not been of them who glorify ALLĀH, he would have remained inside its belly till the day they will be resurrected.

[As-Saffat: 143-144]

It was also the evil deeds that Fir‘aun had stored for himself that rendered him unable to find an escape when disaster befell him. He was told:

Is it now you believe while having disobeyed before. {Yunus: 91}

So store good deeds arising from taqwa for yourself and you shall see the results.

It was reported in a hadith that the Prophet ﷺ said: “There is no youth who fears ALLĀH in his youth except that ALLĀH raises him in status when he is old.” {Hilyatul Awliya, 4/139}

ALLĀH Most High says:

وَلَمَّا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُۥۤ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُ حُكۡمࣰا وَعِلۡمࣰاۚ وَكَذَ ٰلِكَ نَجۡزِی ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِینَ
And when he attained manhood, WE gave him wisdom and knowledge. Thus WE reward the doers of good. {Yūsuf: 22}

And

Truly, he who fears ALLĀH and has patience, then surely, ALLĀH does not let the reward of the good doers be lost. {Yusuf: 90}

CLOTH YOURSELF WITH THE GARMENT OF PIETY

The poet says:

If a man does not dress himself in garments of piety,

It will strip him bare, even if he clothes himself
.

And if the Dunya was continuous for its inhabitants,

The Messenger of ALLĀH would have been alive and eternal
.

But it will perish along with its pleasures
,

And sins and disobedience will remain as it was ˹committed˺
.

Our Lord! Forgive our sins, absolve us of our misdeeds, and join us with the virtuous when we die‎.

HELP BREAK FAST, EARN SAME REWARD AND THE BLESSINGS OF THE ANGELS

Zayd ibn Khalid (may ALLĀH be pleased with him) reported:

The Messenger of ALLĀH (ﷺ) said, “Whoever helps break the fast of a fasting person, he will have the same reward as him without decreasing anything from the reward of the fasting person.”

{Al-Tirmidhi #807}

Anas ibn Malik (may ALLĀH be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) came to the home of Sa’d ibn ‘Ubadah, who presented him with bread and olive oil.

The Prophet (ﷺ) ate them and he said, “The fasting have broken their fast with you, the righteous have eaten your food, and the angels send blessings upon you.”

{Abu Dāwūd #3854}
