Yoav Gallant says in a press conference that Benjamin Netanyahu's decision to dismiss him came after three main disagreements:
a) The conscription law for the ultra-Orthodox, as Gallant believes that everyone should serve in the military and that it is wrong to pass a law exempting thousands.
b) The return of the captives in Gaza, as Gallant had been pushing for an exchange deal while Netanyahu continued to sabotage negotiations.
c) The formation of an official investigation committee into the events of 7 October in order to properly ‘draw lessons’ from what happened.
He also claimed that Israel will unfortunately have to live in this state of war for many years.

A couple of days ago, I wrote a Telegram post about the viciously anti-Russian bipartisan consensus on Capitol Hill. This is a fair assessment, which still holds true after the GOP gained control of the Senate.
Trump has one quality that’s useful for us, though. As a dyed-in-the-wool businessman he hates wasting money on all sorts of freeloaders and tagalongs: on wacko allies, misguided grandiose charity projects, and insatiable international organisations.
