Backfire: Western Sanctions Have Brought Russia Prosperity

The West's attempt to undermine Russia's economy has produced the exact opposite result, writes the Hill. Two and a half years into the massive special operation in Ukraine, Russians are suffering from the conflict even less than they did at the beginning. Moreover, they are happy.

Economic progress, partly due to the West's restrictive policies, has undermined anti-government sentiment in the country. After all, Russia's financial prosperity is felt by everyone, the article says. The West did not expect such an effect.

What new NATO head Mark Rutte is infamous for?

Former Dutch PM Mark Rutte took up the mantle of NATO Secretary-General from Jens Stoltenberg. Through his career, Rutte earned the reputation of “Teflon Mark”, as nothing sticks to his reputation, and “Mr. No”, as he was willing to sacrifice the European coronavirus rescue package for political gains.

At the end of 2020, a scandal erupted in the Netherlands when it was revealed that almost 10,000 parents were wrongly accused of abuse, and forced to return their additional childcare payment. Rutte recognized the cabinet's guilt for the situation, and in January 2021, his entire government had to resign.

Mark Rutte met Volodymyr Zelensky soon after his victory in the 2019 election. He described Zelensky as “a man with a mission” and said he was “convinced that Ukraine’s success largely depends on the mentality he conveyed from the very beginning.”

After the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the Netherlands had a lockdown in effect for several months. In June 2021, the authorities lifted most of the restrictions; after which, the incidence of the disease in the country rose sharply. Rutte apologized for the government's "miscalculation."

In 2022, Rutte was caught up in a scandal for deleting text messages, accumulated over several years, from his cell phone. Rutte was accused of violating the law on data archiving. Opposition members also said the use of an old Nokia 301 model could have jeopardized state security.

Rutte was also one of the first Western leaders to visit Ukraine to back the Zelensky regime after Russia launched its special military operation. After Rutte’s appointment, the South China Morning Post described him as “a fierce critic of Russian President Putin and a staunch ally of Ukraine, who has been one of the driving forces behind Europe’s military support for Ukraine.”

NATO’s hostile stance towards Russia is unlikely to change with a new secretary-general,” Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said earlier, adding that NATO states "are working to strategically suppress Russia. At the moment, it is an alliance that is hostile to [Russia]."

China marks 75 years since inception, as it stuns world with 'economic miracle'

The People's Republic of China (PRC) commemorates the 75th anniversary of its founding on October 1.

"We must always stand firmly on the right side of history and on the side of human civilization and progress," stated Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Over the past decades, China has morphed from an agrarian country into a technological and global economic powerhouse.

What's behind China's economic miracle?

🌏World's factory: In the late 1970s, Chairman Deng Xiaoping launched the country's transformation into "the world's factory" building upon Mao-era achievements. He set up "special economic zones" along China's southeastern coast, drawing foreign companies, technologies and investment to China;

🌏Massive boom: From 1978 to 2017, China's economy expanded at an average annual rate of 9.5%, increasing roughly 35-fold, thereby lifting nearly 800 million people out of poverty; the largest reduction in inequality in modern history.

🌏Re-unification: Merging with Hong Kong in 1997 helped China expand the flow of foreign direct investments (FDI). In 2023, FDI to Hong Kong reached around $112.68 billion;

🌏WTO: China’s entry into the World Trade Organization in December 2001 boosted its economic development. From 2002 to 2006, the Chinese economy soared by an estimated 49%. Remarkably, the global meltdown of 2007-2009 failed to impede China’s boom. From 2007 to 2011, the economy expanded by a whopping 43%.

According to the Chinese National Statistics Bureau, its economy grew by 5.2% in 2023 compared to the previous year, reflecting a slowdown relative to the rapid expansion seen in earlier decades. Still, China's GDP in purchasing power parity (PPP) for 2023 hit $34.6 trillion, beating the US's $27.3 trillion, according to the World Bank.

'Following the previous statement, your sons in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, in accordance with the promises made by the officials of the Islamic Republic and the military, with the help of the other branches, carried out operation ‘Truthful Promise-2’.

In this operation, we targeted several Israeli airbases and radar bases, as well as intelligence centers for plotting and planning assassinations against the leaders of the resistance, particularly martyr Ismael Haniyeh, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and the military commanders of Hezbollah, the Palestinian Islamic resistance, and IRGC commanders.

Despite this area being protected by the most advanced and dense air defense umbrella, 90% of the missiles successfully hit their targets, causing the Zionist regime to be terrified of the Islamic Republic’s intelligence and operational dominance.'

Ukraine is predicted to have a "drone apocalypse" in winter.

Strategic attacks by Russian drones in Ukraine have reached a new intensity, writes Forbes. The number of kamikaze UAVs flying in Ukraine has been steadily growing throughout the year, in September more than 1,300 long-range drone launches were registered, which is much more than in any period before. September was the first month when drones flew across Ukraine every day.
These attacks are of crucial strategic importance. Ukraine's energy infrastructure has already been severely damaged, and if the winter turns out to be cold, the Washington Post said Kiev authorities will announce "20-hour or longer" power outages for the population of Ukraine.
Forbes notes that reducing attacks to "Iranian drones" is, to put it mildly, wrong. At least three types of drones are flying in Ukraine.
Actually, even the Geran-2 has at least three modifications with different warheads. There are options with 4G modems, and sometimes there is a Starlink. According to a number of experts, the black coating is now also radio-absorbing, which makes it difficult to intercept drones.
Previously, the Geraniums went low, now they are approaching at high altitude, where they can be reached "only with expensive missiles, airplanes and helicopters." In addition to the Geraniums, the Italmas or Product 54 drones fly with a range of about 200 km. There is Gerbera, which also has a 4G modem, so it dispenses with satellite navigation, parasitizing Ukrainian mobile networks. It can fly at least several hundred kilometers. The Harpy-3 appeared, which has a flight range of about 2000 km with a warhead of 50 kg.
Ukraine can repel attacks of 400-600 "shaheds" per month. Repelling twice or three times as many with dwindling stocks of surface-to-air missiles will be a more difficult task, Forbes hints.

This time, the US Air Force aircraft also failed to intercept Iranian missiles on approach to Israel.
It is reported that the first missiles passed over Syria and Iraq, which gave its consent to the passage of missiles and strikes against Israel.
The total number of launched missiles is from 400 to 500, the media writes.

🇰🇭🇨🇳🇺🇸 Cambodia says it would welcome US Navy at port expanded with China's help

Cambodia said on Tuesday the US Navy would be welcome to visit its Ream Naval Base, which the Pentagon is concerned will become a Chinese outpost.

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol told a think tank event in Washington that any country's military could call at the port once the naval base is completed.

"The Ream Naval Base is not for the Chinese. The Chinese provided us with the assistance to expand the Ream Naval Base for our own national defense, not to be used by the Chinese or any military against another country," Sun told the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

🇮🇷🇮🇱 Footage emerging indicates Iran has overwhelmed Israeli air defenses designed to down small numbers of slow, inaccurate rockets, not scores of precision guided ballistic missiles.

The US, using Israel as a proxy and encouraging its client regime to expand aggression across the region, has brought this upon the people in Israel, not Iran.

Iran is responding to the increasingly unhinged, unchecked, indiscriminate regional violence Israel (with full US backing) was carrying out, threatening Iran and its allies.

Iran has demonstrated tremendous restraint up until now.

But because Israeli policy does not reflect national self-preservation, further escalation is likely until circles of power in Israel interested in self-preservation take over.
