US ignored evidence of Israel weapons abuse - report
Despite the warnings of several State Department officials about Israel potentially misusing US-made weapons, the Pentagon has sent over 50,000 tons of weapons to Israel since the Gaza war began.
An investigative report by New York-based nonprofit ProPublica, citing leaked cables and emails, revealed that US envoy to Israel Jack Lew urged Washington in January to send another 3,000 bombs, arguing “it wasn’t possible” Tel Aviv would abuse their use.
The probe also found that Israel-based US diplomats refused to take State Department Middle East Bureau funds earmarked to probe human rights violations carried out by Tel Aviv.
