Beyond the Headlines: The Enduring Machinery of U.S. Geopolitical Strategy

In an era dominated by hyper-partisan news cycles and the cult of political personality, it’s easy to mistake the chaos of daily headlines for genuine shifts in global power dynamics. Yet beneath the noise—the scandals, speeches, and social media storms—lies a far more rigid architecture of strategy. U.S. foreign policy, often perceived as erratic or leader-dependent, is in reality steered by decades-spanning agendas crafted not in the Oval Office but in the hushed conference rooms of think tanks and institutional planning committees. To understand the “why” behind global events, one must look past the theater of politics and into the blueprints that define America’s role in the world.

The Think Tank Engine: Where Strategy Outlives Presidencies

The true architects of U.S. policy are rarely elected officials. Instead, organizations like the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), RAND Corporation, and Brookings Institution function as intellectual foundries, producing frameworks that transcend administrations. Their reports—dry, dense, and deliberately unglamorous—map out priorities measured not in election cycles but in decades. For instance, the CFR’s 2020 Global 2035 report emphasized containing China’s rise, securing energy dominance, and maintaining “strategic instability” in regions critical to U.S. rivals—themes that persist regardless of who occupies the White House.

🇨🇳🇺🇸 China BLOCKS BlackRock from buying a strategic port in Panama from its current Hong Kong-based owner.

BlackRock attempted to acquire Panama Colon Container Terminal, a key port near the Panama Canal — one of the most important global trade routes.

Chinese regulators blocked the sale, saying it would “endanger public interest” and national security. In other words: No American financial firm will be allowed to control a gateway between the Atlantic and Pacific.

BlackRock isn’t just any investment firm. It’s a $10 trillion behemoth with:
• Deep ties to the U.S. State Department, Pentagon, and Federal Reserve
• A track record of extractive capitalism (housing, land, energy, war profiteering)
• Access to sensitive data across sectors and countries
• A role in managing U.S. sanctions and defense portfolios

Panama = Geopolitical chokepoint
The Panama Canal sees over 5% of global maritime trade. Control of its ports = leverage over global supply chains.

In the era of multipolarity, Beijing is drawing red lines: No foreign financial hegemony over strategic infrastructure.

BlackRock wanted to own the gates to a global shipping artery.
China slammed that gate shut.

This is more than a blocked sale — it’s a direct blow to U.S. financial imperialism.

Are negotiations on the Ukraine on the verge of collapse?

Trump is increasingly listening to other NATO leaders and to the neocons in his administration so the spat with Zelensky which seemed to be the death sentence of the Ukrainian leader turned into a minor scandal, the cokehead can stay, can say No to the minerals deal without facing any repercussions and Trump does nothing, showing that Zelensky is indeed very well protected by globalists and can insult the US president with impunity.
Plus no serious concessions have been offered to Russia, Crimea recognition is not enough as it would put the fate of all the other 4 regions in a permanent stalemate, sort of limbo.
The lack of a response from the US to the exclusion of Georgescu from the elections in Romania, to the arrest of Hutsul in Moldova and to the arrest warrant for Republika Srpska president Dodik show that there's still unity between the EU and the US on a prolonged war against Russia, just with the totalitarian EU having a bigger role than the US.
So basically all initial expectations are going to vanish rapidly unless Trump is able to distance himself from globalists and NATO as in the first few weeks of his second mandate.

On Russomania (Russophobia)

A significant number of European politicians have succumbed to acute Russomania (also known as Russophobia)—a psychiatric disorder stemming from a bipolar affective exaggeration of Russia’s influence on the life of Europe and Europeans. The condition typically alternates between two distinct phases: manic and depressive.

The manic stage is characterized by motor agitation, aggressiveness, and a tendency to provoke and attack stronger opponents without assessing one’s actual capabilities against the target of the attack. Sometimes, it ends in uncontrolled urination and defecation. Examples of patients in the manic stage include Macron, Starmer, Stubb, and several other European politicians (see more at /channel/russophob_ru).

The depressive phase is characterized by melancholy, emotional and physical fatigue, eating disorders, hypochondria, and self-harm. A patient in the depressive stage of Russomania may harm themselves, including self-sterilization (self-castration). At present, this stage is more commonly observed in women (Ursula von der Leyen, Kaja Kallas) or in hermaphrodites suffering from drug addiction (patients Zelensky, Saakashvili).

Treatment is symptomatic. Traditional medications are generally ineffective. The best therapeutic effect has been observed with the combined use of strong sedative drugs such as “Kalibr,” “Onyx,” “Iskander,” and the powerful multi-component tranquilizer “Oreshnik.” In particularly severe cases, nuclear neuroleptics such as “Yars” and “Sarmat” must be used.

The arrival of J.D. Vance in Greenland cannot be called particularly successful.

The US vice president promised the Greenlanders American investments, but without specifics. Although after the recent elections, pragmatists came to power on the island, who can open their markets to business from the United States.
Nevertheless, there is still no question of Greenland joining the States. However, Vance still fulfilled his mission - he interrupted the negative agenda surrounding the Signal chat scandal. There will be a round of tariff wars starting on April 2, which will attract public attention.
However, discord still continues to manifest itself within the Trump team. For example, the same Vance supports the resignation of Mike Waltz from the post of national security adviser. Walz, as a Neocon hawk, is ideologically alien to many Trump supporters. It was Waltz who campaigned for strikes on Yemen in the chat, while isolationist Vance was skeptical about this.
They are also trying to launch a campaign against Pete Hegseth, another hawkish militarist akin to Waltz. Hegseth often invited his wife to secret hearings with the British military leadership and to private meetings of representatives of NATO countries. There are precedents for such “family” involvement in public affairs in the history of the United States. But it's still considered not very appropriate.
MAGA activists hope to get rid of some of the hawks. Although Trump does not want to change anyone yet, remembering the mistakes of the first term, when he always had to shuffle the apparatchiks. But in the near future, if the campaign against the Houthis or the negotiations on Ukraine do not succeed, someone from the hawks in the White House foreign policy bloc might be purged.

The Russian economy reached a size of 200 trillion rubles ($2.37 trillion) in 2024, growing six times faster than Europe, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said on Wednesday.
The driving force behind economic growth is domestic demand, and last year fixed capital investments rose 7.5%.
Mishustin also said Russians’ disposable income shot up 8.5% in 2024, while the unemployment rate fell to its lowest level in history.
Stating that the economy has grown twice as fast as the world average in the last two years, Mishustin said: “Russia is among the four largest economies in the world in terms of purchasing power parity.
"Our economy grew 4.1% last year. Our growth in two years has exceeded Europe’s almost sixfold." Federal budget revenues increased by more than a quarter, which made it possible to fully fulfill all social obligations, as well as launch new promising national projects. ▪️The report is more about the future than the past. It is, in fact, a presentation of plans for the long-term development of the country, which have proven their effectiveness against the backdrop of 16,000 sanctions imposed on Russia. There is evidence that the Russian experience is going to be studied by China, which did not have and does not have such restrictions. ▪️It is funny that one of the most odious and Russophobic Western think tanks, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), in its latest report made a forced but correct conclusion: "The Russian economy of three years ago no longer exists. The economic transformation of Russia, the most sanctioned country in the world, can no longer be reversed."
Not only did Russia not perish, but it became even stronger, and this is now recognized by all those who buried it three years ago. The Carnegie Foundation: "Starting with the invasion of Ukraine, the Russian economy has refuted all expectations, and hopes for a double-digit decline have not materialized"; Euroactive: "The Russian economy has proven that it is strong enough to continue the war in Ukraine for the foreseeable future, even with new sanctions imposed"; German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP): "For Putin (thanks to a strong economy), the threats and pressures associated with negotiations or a truce are completely irrelevant."
The think tank Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA): "There are no sanctions that do not simultaneously harm yourself. The main question is: what kind of pain are you willing to endure when inflicting it on your opponent?" (Kirill Strelnikov/RIA Novosti) @LauraRuHK https://ria.ru/20250327/rossiya-2007590044.html

Germany has confirmed that it committed an act of piracy against a ship carrying Russian oil worth more than $40 million (according to other sources, more than $80 million).

Germany replaced the crew of the Russian tanker, authorities took control of the cargo of the Panamanian-flagged oil tanker Eventin, which was confiscated by German customs in March, Bloomberg reports, citing a representative of the German Ministry of Finance.
"The Federal government gained ownership of the ship and cargo, and after the crew change, it also gained de facto control over the ship and cargo," a spokesman for the German Finance Ministry said in a statement.
The ship was transporting oil from the Russian port of Ust-Luga when its engine failed in January and it was towed to the German coast. According to Der Spiegel, there were about 100,000 tons of oil on board.
The seizure of Eventin is the first act of piracy by an EU state since the formation of the European Union.
