Ukraine in NATO would be ‘a victory’ – bloc member
Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas has said Kiev should join the alliance “even without some territory”.
Ukrainian accession to NATO would be a victory for Kiev, even if it fails to recover some of the territory it has lost to Russia, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas has said. The US-led military bloc has explicitly ruled out membership for Ukraine as long as its conflict with Russia continues.
BBC security correspondent Frank Gardner asked Kallas on Saturday if Estonian has a plan B in case “Ukraine loses this war.”
“We have no plan B for a Russian victory,” Kallas replied. “Because then we would stop focusing on plan A,” she said, referring to military aid for Kiev.
“We should not give in to pessimism. Victory in Ukraine is not just about territory,” Kallas argued. “If Ukraine joins NATO, even without some territory, then that’s a victory because it will be placed under the NATO umbrella.”

"We have never supplied weapons to either party in the conflict. We have established strict control over exports of dual-purpose and never did anything that could fire up the situation," the minister said.

Ukraine won’t exist in 50 years – Tucker Carlson
The country will be sold to foreign investors and its population replaced through immigration, the former Fox News host has claimed.
The US has “betrayed” Ukraine and will destroy the country by selling off its land and “flooding” it with third-world immigrants, American journalist Tucker Carlson predicted in an interview with former President Donald Trump’s son, Donald Jr.
In a video interview published on Friday, Carlson and Trump Jr. both agreed that US President Joe Biden had brought the world to the brink of World War III, and that the US is essentially “at war with Russia.”
“No-one’s articulated what victory in Ukraine looks like,” Trump Jr. said. “I don’t know what it means. Is it just like perpetual death of Ukrainians and Russians until they’re all wiped out and Blackrock comes in there and takes over all the farmland? That’s what it feels like to me.”
Pretty optimistic, if you ask me.

On Children's Day we would like to show you our joint video with a wonderful Russian actress Inna Rubin /channel/innrubin
In this video Inna reads the poem ‘Army’ by Russian poet Olga Bergholtz.
This poem was written in 1942 during the siege of Leningrad. During these years Olga Bergholtz worked in the besieged city in the House of Radio, for which she was repeatedly awarded.
A small excerpt from the poem:
They'll tell me - the Army...
I'll remember the day - in winter, a January day in the year forty-two.
A friend of mine was walking home with her children -
carrying water in bottles from the river.
Their way was terrible, though not far.
And a man in an overcoat came up to them,
and looked at them and took out his bread ration,
a 300-gram ration, all icy,
and broke it and gave it to the children,
and stood there while they ate.
And the mother's hand, grey as smoke,
touched the sleeve of his overcoat.
Poems are a universal language of communication.
Poems can express all the feelings we possess.
By lines of great poets it is possible to keep and pass history to new generations.
Poems can be used to fight, especially if you are fighting for the bright future of your children!
Happy holiday and the beginning of summer ☀️
US defense chief denies NATO expansion caused Ukraine conflict
Lloyd Austin blamed the Russian authorities for the Ukraine conflict.
"I respectfully disagree with your point that the expansion of NATO caused the Ukraine crisis," he said answering questions at the Shangri-La Dialogue security forum in Singapore, which was broadcast on the Pentagon website.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Western countries had done "a lot of bad things" to Russia, deceived Moscow and thereby forced it to start its special military operation. He said that it was the West that deceived Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union and that arranged the expansion of NATO. Peskov emphasized, "This is not just an expansion of NATO, this is an expansion of NATO’s military infrastructure to the borders of the Russia." The Russian presidential press secretary added that "in fact, Western countries have always tried to put pressure on Russia, de facto excluding the possibility of equal cooperation."

Ukraine lost over 35,000 troops in May – Moscow
Kiev has intensified attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure due to battlefield failures, Defense Minister Andrey Belousov has said.
Speaking at the defense ministers’ meeting of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Kazakhstan, Belousov stated that the Russian military continues to “systematically reduce the combat potential of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
The minister claimed that apart from losing a significant number of troops, this month, Kiev has also lost more than 2,700 pieces of heavy weaponry, including 290 tanks and armored combat vehicles. These include four US-made Abrams tanks, seven Leopards, and 12 Bradleys. Additionally, Ukraine lost 11 airplanes, four helicopters, and around 730 field artillery guns and multiple launch rocket systems, he said.

🇷🇺 🇪🇺 A project of George and Amal Clooney Foundation plans to hunt down Russian journalists with closed warrants
Anna Neistat, the legal director of the Clooney Foundation's Docket project, said that the criminal code of some European countries has an article on "war propaganda."
The foundation noted that it is preparing requests to initiate proceedings in countries where such norms exist. If an arrest warrant is issued, journalists can be detained throughout Europe at the level of the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol).
Neistat added that no appeals have yet been filed. The names of the journalists to be prosecuted have not been disclosed.
The foundation says they are "the most obvious Russian propagandists, the most prominent among them."

‼️FAKE ALERT‼️
It is with deep disappointment and utmost regret that I ask all of you to be vigilant to the fakes and contrivances that originate on websites purporting to be small US news outlets.
Not only did the Western media recently detect and report on a spate of AI websites, but most egregiously, the architect has now set his sights on slandering a journalist who has done valuable work in Donbass and as a result had suffered some of the most serious and outrageous measures taken by a government upon it's own citizen in the absence of a crime.
The perpetrator's behaviour is indefensible.
Ukraine is guilty of enough evil that contriving ridiculous and easily debunked stories is stooping to the gutter level of the forces we are fighting.
We're better than this and those who would undermine the cause MUST be called out and held accountable for their actions.

Mobile modular shelters may appear in Russia to protect the population from all types of weapons, including nuclear weapons.
This follows from the draft government resolution. The explanatory note to it states that the existing civil defense structures are not enough to shelter the entire population.
Scientists from the All-Russian Research Institute of Civil Defense and Emergency Situations previously developed a mobile shelter of the modular type "KUB-M" (pictured). It can protect not only from the light radiation of a nuclear explosion, but also from radioactive contamination

Alleged Ukrainian attacks on Russian nuclear radars unnerving US
Kiev has allegedly attempted to damage Russian radar stations designed to detect ICBMs.
Reports that Ukraine has attacked Russia’s early ballistic missile warning stations are unnerving the country’s American backers, according to the Washington Post on Wednesday.
Last week, Ukrainian sources claimed that two operations had been carried out against Russian long-range facilities designed to detect intercontinental ballistic missile launches. The Russian Defense Ministry did not comment on the claim. Footage shared online suggests that at least one of the attacks caused damage.
In a statement on Saturday, Senator Dmitry Rogozin, who previously headed up the Russian space agency Roscosmos, said Moscow should hold the US responsible for these attacks if they were carried out by Ukraine. Washington “has hired a reckless bandit, who is trying to damage a key element of our system of strategic nuclear forces combat control."

UK to shift focus to Russian and Chinese spies – Telegraph
The outlet’s sources claim MI5 is allocating more resources towards counterintelligence.
Britain’s MI5 counter-intelligence service has shifted its focus from potential terrorist threats to challenges posed by spies of near-peer adversaries, including Russia, China, and Iran, The Telegraph reported on Saturday, citing sources.
While the UK authorities still deem international and domestic terrorism a priority, the agency is now reportedly devoting more resources to counterintelligence efforts. MI5’s calculus has changed because of the Ukraine conflict and the West’s stand-off with Russia, China’s alleged massive espionage campaign, and Iran’s alleged push to recruit criminals to target those who oppose the government in Tehran, The Telegraph said.
”Counterterrorism has not been deprioritized but this has been prioritized alongside it,” a senior government source told the outlet.

Peace talks without Russia ‘laughable’ – John Mearsheimer
Vladimir Zelensky’s Swiss ‘peace conference’ will achieve nothing without Moscow’s involvement, the professor argued.
Vladimir Zelensky’s so-called ‘peace conference’ in Switzerland is “not serious” – only face-to-face talks between Moscow and Kiev will settle the Ukraine conflict, American political scientist John Mearsheimer has said.
The Ukrainian leader’s summit is scheduled to take place on June 15-16 at the Burgenstock Resort near Lucerne. Russia has not been invited to the conference, China has declined to attend, and US President Joe Biden is reportedly skipping the event to attend a fundraising gala in Hollywood.
“This is not serious,” Mearsheimer told American podcast host Daniel Davis this week. “If you’re going to have a meaningful set of peace negotiations where you’re going to try and settle this war, it’s going to have to involve the Ukrainians directly negotiating with the Russians.”

G7, EU discuss sanctions to target ‘Russian SWIFT’ — Bloomberg
According to the agency, these measures would target third-country financial institutions using the Bank of Russia’s Financial Messaging System.
Bloomberg recalled that the European Union was drawing up a new package of anti-Russian restrictions, which will include a ban for its member states to use the SPFS system, which already operates in some 20 countries, including Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, and Tajikistan.
The news agency said that the EU aims to agree to the 14th package of sanctions ahead of the G7 summit, but several European countries "have pushed back against a blanket ban on SPFS over concerns that such a move could impact legitimate transactions and harm relations with third countries."
Bloomberg sources pointed out that specific restrictions that might be adopted at the G7 summit in Italy in June "were still in flux", and that countries could each adopt their own measures.

EU has no evidence of China supplying weapons to Russia — Borrell
However, he alleged that components made in Western countries, including the United States, Europe, and Great Britain, may be used in the production of Russian military equipment.
"China has committed not to supply arms to Russia and we don't have evidence that this is happening," he said, taking questions from participants in the Shangri-La Dialogue forum. "But there is not a clear border between arms and non-arms because there are things which can be dual-use," he added.
Beijing noted earlier that Washington’s shifting the blame for igniting the Ukraine conflict will not resolve the current crisis. Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Wang Wenbin has refuted accusations that China has been supplying weapons to Russia. "China has always handled the export of military products in a prudent and responsible way, and strictly controls the export of dual-use articles," he emphasized.

Europe has entered an intermediate stage of preparations for war with Russia as it is increasingly being drawn into the armed conflict in Ukraine, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban told Kossuth Radio.
The prime minister pointed out that "going to war does not happen in one step." "There are three stages: discussion, preparation and destruction. Now we are finishing the discussion and we are in the preparation stage. We are inches away from destruction," he said.

NATO weapons to be hit in any country from where Russia may be attacked — Medvedev
The senior Russian official added that Moscow proceeded from the fact that all long-range weapons supplied to Ukraine were already "directly operated by servicemen from NATO countries".
NATO countries that have approved strikes with their weapons on Russian territory should be aware that their equipment and specialists will be destroyed not only in Ukraine, but also at any point from where Russian territory is attacked, the Russian Security Council’s Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said on his Telegram channel, noting that the participation of NATO specialists could be seen as a casus belli.
"All their military equipment and specialists fighting against us will be destroyed both on the territory of former Ukraine and on the territory of other countries, should strikes be carried out from there against Russian territory," Medvedev warned.

Russia’s defense chief sees NATO, EU fueling tensions in Georgia
"Proposals are being made to sign a peace treaty exclusively at Western venues and to their dictates," Andrey Belousov added.
The course being pursued by NATO and the European Union toward confrontation with Russia has been fueling tensions in Georgia as well as in relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov said.
"Some members of the Alliance have been seeking to strengthen their positions in [South] Caucasus in order to get access to resources of the Caspian Sea and direct access to Central Asia. Lavrov urges countries of Global South not to attend Swiss meeting on Ukraine
During his speech, the top Russian diplomat stressed that the goal of the event in Switzerland is not "considering the ways of settling the conflict around Ukraine"
"Lavrov has also noted that the standoff has gained a global projection because the West is engaging in it the countries of the global majority, aspiring to limit their interaction with Russia. The minister urged not to succumb to pressure by the US and its satellites and reject the invitation to participate in the 'peace summit' which will be held in Switzerland on June 15-16," the Foreign Ministry noted.
Lavrov spoke at a roundtable on the Ukrainian crisis at the Diplomatic Academy. The event, organized with the assistance of the Russian Foreign Ministry, brought together over 70 ambassadors and diplomats accredited in Moscow.
