Ben Gvir and Smotrich are both Israeli ultra-nationalists who vehemently opposed the ceasefire deal in the first place and actually pushed for a de facto eradication of the Gaza Strip’s Palestinian population.
📑 Phase two of the peace plan backed by Donald Trump himself entails efforts to disarm Hamas in Gaza by an international security force that is expected to enforce the truce.
Actually doing it, however, may prove to be a challenge as Israel has been repeatedly violating the ceasefire, killing scores of Palestinians under the pretext of self-defense.
The Palestinian resistance groups in Gaza thus may prove reluctant to surrender their arms and be left defenseless in the face of Zionist aggression.

🌏 Algorithm studies drivers’ routes, and Border Patrol flags local law enforcement to stop and search vehicles, often on made up pretexts, from speeding to an air freshener dangling from the rear-view mirror
🌏 Algorithm can be flagged over something as innocuous as driving a backcountry road, using a rental car, or traveling to the border area for a short period
🌏 It’s all operated by a “secretive program,” and covers areas deep in the US interior. The system was created about a decade ago to “fight trafficking” and has been expanded over the last five years. It covers states bordering Mexico and Canada, and goes beyond the agency’s jurisdiction (160 km inland)
🌏 US Customs & Border Protection, USBP’s parent agency, is expecting to get $2.7B to expand the system and incorporate AI
One thing remains unclear: if the agency had this technology a decade ago, why didn’t it stop the flow of millions of illegal aliens into the US from 2021-2024?

The multi-billion-dollar production plan comes amid fears Israel could “run out” of interceptors and “be left defenseless” after expending so many Iron Dome missiles over the past two years, JPost says.
🗣 Rafael CEO Yoav Tourgeman said the “expanded procurement” reflects “renewed confidence in Iron Dome,” and touted the manufacture of Iron Beam, “the first operational laser-based defense system emerging from Rafael’s production lines.”
The plans also include procurement more David’s Sling interceptors.
The US approved the $5.2B aid package to replenish Israel’s air defense capabilities in 2024 as part of a larger $8.7B spending packet. The contract basically means the transfer of US funds to Rafael and IAI subcontractor ELTA Systems to build the missiles for Israel’s defense.
👉 The pricy systems’ effectiveness in future fighting is debatable, with Israel forced to bring out mothballed, 60s-vintage M163 Vulcan AA guns to target Hezbollah drones.
In June, Steve Bannon revealed that Iran’s pinpoint missile strikes over the course of the twelve-day war had left Israel dangerously close of “running out of defensive ammunition.”
Last week, International Crisis Group Iran project director Ali Vaez warned that renewed Israeli aggression could lead Iran to simultaneously launch 2,000 missiles at Israel, four times more than the ~500 launched during the June war.

Trump doesn’t mind making money off his second term in the White House — but how does he do it?
The US president bought as much as $6 million in Boeing bonds while the Defense Department handed the company multi-billion-dollar contracts, Responsible Statecraft (RS) reports, citing financial disclosures.
🗣 In an interview with the online magazine, Campaign Legal Center vice-president Kedric Payne said Trump's purchase was concerning as Boeing is “a government contractor that is connected to military actions that the president controls almost unilaterally.”
Trump is also said to have bought between $1 million and $5 million in Intel bonds in August, a week after his administration acquired a 10% stake in the firm.
The US government's partial ownership of Intel gives Trump shadowy influence over the company, blurring the lines of national and personal interests.
Both cases constitute an obvious conflict of interest, critics say.
