Swiss triathletes withdrew from the mixed relay at the Olympics due to an intestinal infection - Seine is winning!
Adrien Briffaud and Simon Westermann will miss the competition, the Swiss Olympic Committee reported.
Westermann had to replace Briffaud, who suffered from stomach problems after swimming in the Seine in the individual competition. As a result, Westermann himself refused to start due to a similar problem.
Earlier, a Belgian athlete was hospitalized with E. coli after participating in a women's triathlon.
The funny part of the story is that the organizers of the Games in Paris did not see a connection between the quality of the water in the Seine and the infection of the Belgian triathlete with E. coli.
Claire Michelle's hospitalization became known the day before. The deputy mayor of Paris said that there are other athletes who are sick and who did not participate in competitions.

🇧🇪 Belgium has withdrawn from Monday's mixed relay triathlon after triathlete Claire Michel fell ill, according to a statement from the National Olympic Committee.
The statement did not specify the nature of Michel’s illness, which emerged days after she swam in the River Seine Poo River during the women's triathlon on Wednesday.
Switzerland has also had to adjust its roster, as athletes from the country became ill after the initial triathlon races last week.
