Remember that this human experience is temporary.
You arrive with nothing, spend your life chasing everything, and in the end you leave again with nothing.
Money, cars, the house, all the things you’ve stressed yourself out over, the promotions for which you’ve sacrificed your health – none of this will come with you.
So what was the point?
We exhaust ourselves collecting things that will never follow us through the exit door.
Make sure your soul gains more than your hands.
Make sure you have lived, not just accumulated; make sure you have loved deeply.
Not just worked endlessly.
The things you cannot measure are the ones that really matter.
Your hands will be empty when you leave.
Make sure your soul is not.

🥀

By revealing our suffering or fear, we give others permission to be more authentic.
It is important to be sensitive to occasions when others, due to their own anger or confusion, may not be able to understand or respond so willingly.
By showing our vulnerability we are always taking a risk, and sometimes we might get hurt.
What makes us ready to do this is that the real suffering, the deepest wound, lies in being armoured and isolated.
It takes courage to show vulnerability, but the reward is sweet:
We awaken compassion and genuine intimacy in our relationships with others

The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.
Marcus Aurelius, the most powerful man in the world, who spoke to himself every night not as an emperor, but as a human being.
Stoicism, as the Greek philosophers called it, is not the art of feeling no emotions, but the strength not to be their slave.
You cannot decide whether fate will be cruel, but you can decide not to become cruel yourself.
You cannot stop the rain, but you can choose how to walk through it.
Pain comes, loss comes, injustice comes, but it is not what happens that matters, it is the meaning you give to it.
And then you realise that true freedom is not having control over the world, but over your inner world.
You may not be able to control the chaos outside you, but you can always control your thoughts.
And perhaps that is precisely where the greatest strength a person can possess lies.
To transform what strikes them into what makes them invincible.

(insegnante buddhista statunitense)
da Tumblr

🐻

Trauma can become trapped by denial, addiction or other forms of repression.
We become like that bear in a small zoo who, for fifteen years, had paced back and forth inside his tiny cage.
When the zoo finally enlarged his enclosure, creating a larger space with a pond and trees, the poor bear continued to pace up and down the same five metres he had covered for years, back and forth.
To free ourselves from trauma, we need to find a source of inner stability from which to face the reservoir of pain and fear.
Sometimes it can be a very simple path, such as identifying an area in our body that conveys tranquillity, strength and immutability, for example the soles of our feet, or our broad, strong shoulders.
Or it may come from evoking a memory of freedom and well-being we experienced in a particular place, or from the feeling of being loved and protected at our grandparents’ house, or in any other place linked to our life experience.
Often, to face a trauma without risking being overwhelmed by it, we need the presence and help of another person.
Then, once we have identified our source of inner stability and the help needed to approach the trauma gently, little by little we manage to chip away at its painful mass, listen to the story it has to tell us, and loosen the grip in which it is trapped.
This gradual opening allows our traumatised nervous system to process the past without being traumatised a second time, and to move, step by step, towards freedom.

Few people truly grow up.
Growing up isn’t about building a career; making money has nothing to do with it.
Growth happens within the soul.
As a result, the mind is transformed.
This is where the capacity to love comes into play.
We can love if we have been loved, or we can love if we manage to understand why and how we were not loved.
To love others, we must love our inner child – that is, ourselves as children.

Sometimes the things that really break you aren’t the big ones, but the little ones.
The ones you don’t tell anyone about.
Sometimes it breaks you when you pretend to be fine and nobody notices.
It happens that you carry unspoken words inside you because you’re afraid of seeming like a burden.
You find yourself smiling whilst inside you’re crumbling a little.
But you don’t want to be a bother.
It’s normal if, on certain nights, you feel that the weight isn’t the world but what you’re keeping hidden.
It breaks you when you were expecting a call and it didn’t come.
When you needed someone but everyone was busy.
When you feel misunderstood even by those who know you best.
Sometimes it’s not you who’s overreacting and carrying too much for too long, and I know you never tell anyone, but those cracks you hide don’t make you weak—they make you human—and you’re learning not to break, even when no one sees the weight you’re carrying.

I just want to live in peace.
To sleep through the night without waking up at 3am with my heart racing and my brain compiling a list of problems.
I swear, I don’t go looking for them.
I’ve got my simple things: a hot cup of tea and just the right amount of silence.
A day that doesn’t suddenly demand I become an expert.
An expert in things that didn’t exist yesterday but are absolutely urgent today.
A day when I don’t have to wake up as part lawyer, part architect, part plumber of the soul and part switchboard operator for chaos.
Trying to figure out which bureaucratic circle the day has ended up in.
But it always happens like this.
As soon as I tell myself, ‘Breathe, maybe everything’s fine now.’
Bang, something breaks, someone demands, someone sprinkles chaos like Parmesan over a life that was almost going well.
And the heart starts up again, drum, festival.
I’d just like to live in peace.

It frightens me that someone who has been such a constant presence in my life, with whom I’ve shared so much, should suddenly disappear.
As if they were a comet.
That has swept through our lives.
You were used to seeing it, and then it disappears over the horizon.
Then there’s the tail; you see it for a while, and then even that’s gone.
Life goes on as if it had never existed.
I mean, our life.
It’s just that nobody ever thinks about the comet’s life.
About what happens to it after it’s gone.

Solo allora rimarrai
vivo

💟

Starting afresh is a blessing.
Every day I can start again.
I am not held back by my past.
If we are able to start afresh, it means we are taking control of our lives and shaping them.
Let us stop complaining that we are incapable of doing anything, because our upbringing has held us back.
We ourselves hold in our hands what we want to make of our lives.
With what we have been given, we can shape and mould our lives through the work of our own hands.
But we must take the initiative ourselves.
We cannot expect everything from others alone.
Every day begins in the morning.
The rhythm of nature should also become the rhythm of our lives.

We should not say that nothing changes for us anyway, that we have already tried so many times to make a fresh start.
Take up the challenge of starting afresh every day without judging the previous day.
No matter how we have lived up to this point, it is never too late to
‘start again’.
This applies even to those who have already devoted much
effort to themselves and their spiritual journey: do not take what you have achieved for granted.
Start afresh every day.
Only then will you remain
alive…

🌈

Happiness

Try this experiment:
go and ask people who enjoy material comforts whether they are happy.
They will tell you that they aren’t really that happy, or that if they are content, it is because they already possess, deep down, qualities that enable them to appreciate their situation, and that they would be just as content in circumstances that might seem less desirable to you.
On the other hand, how often have we seen that, when placed in identical situations, different people do not all react in the same way?
Let’s take a trivial example from everyday life: a traffic jam.
Look at the reactions of the drivers:
one grows impatient, starts honking the horn and swears at those around him; another leafs through a newspaper or listens to the radio; another chats with their passenger, or hugs them if it is their girlfriend.
Finally, another – though this is evidently much rarer – takes advantage of this moment of pause to calm down, find harmony, turn inwards, connect with Heaven, and send their love and light to all beings on earth.
And it is the same in every aspect of life.
It is therefore in our minds that we must bring order.
It is our thoughts that influence our states of consciousness.
With a sound philosophy, one can become the master of one’s own happiness; and where others get irritated, let things get them down and poison the lives of those around them, you grow stronger, you are enriched, and thanks to your experiences you can subsequently help those close to you with your advice, your radiance, and sometimes simply by your presence, thanks to the strength, light and peace that emanate from you.
So, do not wait passively for happiness to come to you from outside.
On the contrary, it is up to you to take action and apply the methods that will enable you to transform sadness into joy, and defeat into success.

Connecting deeply with the inner child.
Meditation

In the space of the heart I let the image of myself emerge when I was a five-year-old... I smile tenderly at that five-year-old....
I recognize that that five year old is fragile and vulnerable....
I smile with understanding and love at the five-year-old in me....
I clearly see myself as a child in pain....
I feel understanding and compassion arising in me for the suffering of the child I have been....
In the space of my heart I now let the image of my father emerge when he was a five year old boy... I smile tenderly at the five year old boy who was my father...
I recognize the fragility and vulnerability of my father when he was a five year old....
I smile with understanding and love at my father, a five-year-old boy....
I clearly see my father as a child in pain....
I feel understanding and compassion arising in me for the suffering of the child who was my father....
I now clearly recognize my father's presence in me.... I smile at my father in me...
I understand and welcome my father's difficulties, which are also present in me....
I am determined to practice to free my father and me from suffering....
Now I let the image of my mother when she was a five year old girl rise in my heart space... I smile tenderly at the five year old girl who was my mother...
I recognize the fragility and vulnerability of my mother when she was a five year old girl....
I smile with understanding and love at my mother, a five year old girl....
I clearly see my mother as a child in pain....
I feel understanding and compassion arise in me for the suffering of the little girl who was my mother....

(poeta francese)
da: "Il distacco dal mondo"

🥀

Today, my love, I am too tired to write to you.
You will find in your heart a letter many pages long, filled with silence.
Read it carefully.
It was written on my behalf by the light of this day.
It speaks only of you and of the stillness that fills me every time I turn my face towards yours, there, several hundred kilometres away.

We ought to carry out all things, even the most ordinary ones—opening a door, writing a letter, reaching out a hand—with the utmost care and the keenest attention, as if the fate of the world or the course of the stars depended on it; and indeed, it is true that the fate of the world and the course of the stars do depend on it.

We stand before life as if facing a messenger who knocks at our door every morning.
We invite him in,
we seat him and begin to confide our hopes to him and share our grievances with him, before offering him a meal and, once again, the litany of complaints and the idle chatter surrounding our hopes, now evening has fallen, we see him to the door and bid him farewell without having given a second thought to reading that letter which he has been waving before our eyes the whole time.

We all go through life believing that our suffering is unique.
That no one has ever felt pain like the pain we feel right now.
We think our pain is personal, incomparable, that no one can truly understand what we are carrying inside.
But this is a deception of pain.
Suffering does not separate you from others; it places you amongst them.
Long before you were born, others carried burdens just as heavy.
And right now, all around you, there are people walking every day with burdens invisible to your eyes.
Pain is not what makes you alone; it is what makes you human.
When you understand this, something changes.
You stop asking yourself why this is happening to me, and you start asking yourself: what can I do with what has happened to me?
Your pain has never been a wall; it has always been a bridge...

You must always be prepared to survive on your own.
Some people change suddenly.
Today you’re important, and tomorrow you’re nothing.
That’s the reality.
It doesn’t mean avoiding relationships.
It means accepting that sooner or later everyone will leave.
Through death, by choice, or simply as life goes on.
It’s inevitable.
You’re not ready for this truth.
Every loss will break you.
You’ll spend years trying to recover from every goodbye.
You must be strong enough to carry on when someone leaves.
Not because you don’t need people, but because needing them cannot mean stopping living when they are no longer there.
Love deeply.
Connect with others, but don’t make someone’s presence a condition for breathing.
Everyone you love will one day no longer be by your side.
Don’t let this stop you from loving, but don’t let their absence stop you from living.

When you drive at night, your headlights only illuminate 50, perhaps 100 metres ahead of you.
Beyond that light, it is pitch black.
And yet you don’t stop.
You wait until the whole road is lit up before setting off.
You trust those 100 metres.
You move forward, and as you do, the light moves with you.
Always 100 metres, always enough – that’s how life works.
You don’t need to see the whole road; you don’t need to know how it will end; you just need to see the next step.
And yet we spend years stuck in the car park, waiting for someone to switch on all the lights before we move, but that moment never comes.
Life doesn’t show you the whole path; it reveals it to you as you walk.
Trust your 100 metres.

It is our choices that make us who we are.
And we always have the chance to make the right choice.

~ Buddha ~

“Not God, not the soul, not hell and not heaven,
but man
in front of himself
with his own strength,
responsible for his every act,
author of his lives to come
and of the absolute end
of all becoming:
Nirvana."

Good morning, I love you
(exercise)

1. As soon as you wake up, whilst still in bed, place one hand over your heart.

2. Feel your heartbeat and acknowledge its care, as it supplies oxygen and nourishment to your whole body without needing conscious control.

3. When you are ready, take a breath and say to yourself: “Good morning, [name]. I love you.”

4. Observe your feelings without judgement, recognising that there is no right or wrong reaction.

5. Next, extend this greeting outwards, mentally directing it towards someone dear to you.

The fundamental idea is that ‘greeting’ yourself every morning with love plants a seed of mindfulness and self-compassion which, over time, transforms your day and your life.

Do you know what you will realize one day?
That you have already lived some of the best days of your life and you didn't even know it.
You were too busy chasing the next one, too preoccupied with worrying about what was missing, convinced that happiness was something you would achieve one day when everything finally made sense.
But while you were waiting, you were laughing with people who won't always be by your side.
You were creating memories in places that one day you'll drive through and feel something you can't explain.
You almost never recognize happiness while you're experiencing it; it seems too normal, too small to matter until it becomes a memory you'd give anything to relive.
