❗️Ukraine will not join the EU until it resolves the historically problematic issue of the Volyn massacre with Poland, Donald Tusk has said.
The country's prime minister stressed: "Kiev must make a credible assessment of what happened during the Second World War and not 'bury' this history. This is necessary for good relations between the countries.
Without Poland's consent, Ukraine will not be able to join the EU, he added.

🛢️An oil slick believed to be 2.2 nautical miles (4 kilometres) long has been found around the tanker Sounion in the Red Sea. This was reported by Reuters with reference to a letter from Greece to the UN.
According to the letter, Greece said the information was based on a satellite image taken on the evening of 29 August and obtained by the European Maritime Safety Agency.
"The location of the oil spill coincides with the location of the ship [Sounion]. <...> In the circumstances, the condition of the tanker <...> poses a serious environmental risk to the marine environment of the Red Sea," the agency quoted the Greek letter as saying.
❗️The French authorities who detained Durov should do the same to the US and Ukrainian presidents, Zakharova said.
"If France opened a criminal case and detained Durov on suspicion of 'laundering the proceeds of crimes or offences committed by an organised group', then Biden and Zelensky will not be allowed to enter Paris," the diplomat wrote on her Telegram channel.

❗️Ukraine is using motorways instead of airfields to receive F-16s, the LCI TV channel has reported.
Ukrainian servicemen are doing this to reduce the likelihood of Russian air defences hitting the planes, said former military pilot Xavier Titelman.
Perhaps it should be recognised that the Ukrainian terrorist regime has been using civilian infrastructure for military purposes since the beginning of the war?

❗️It is crucial that Durov and Telegram win this case. Otherwise, defeat will be a signal to "all those who defend freedom of speech".
This was stated by crypto investor Ran Neuner. He explained that it would be dangerous to the creators of such apps to come to Europe:
Neuner called the wording of the accusations against Durov one of the craziest things he'd ever heard.
Earlier, Elon Musk said he would limit his movements to countries where freedom of speech is "constitutionally protected".

🤡The training of the AFU military by EU instructors will not take place on Ukrainian territory, but as close to it as possible, Borrel said.
He also emphasized that, in his opinion, "the training could well take place in Ukraine under the same conditions in which the military will have to operate".

🇪🇺🇺🇦 NATO Supports Ukraine's Actions in Kursk Region — Welt am Sonntag
▪️NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg issued a statement on the legality of Ukraine's operation in the Kursk region, emphasizing that Kyiv has the full right to self-defense, even if it extends beyond Ukraine's borders.
▪️Stoltenberg noted that Ukraine independently decides how to defend itself, and that this right, under international law, is not limited by Russia's borders.
▪️It is noteworthy that this is the first time the alliance has openly expressed approval of Ukraine's actions on Russian territory, although Stoltenberg also clarified that Kiev did not coordinate its plans with NATO in advance.
▪️These statements confirm that NATO's support for Ukraine remains strong despite the escalation of the conflict and the expansion of the combat zone.

🇩🇪Planes with Afghan migrants should take off from Germany every day. This statement was made by Bernd Baumann, secretary of the parliamentary group of the Alternative for Germany party, commenting on the German government's decision to deport 28 people from Afghanistan to their home country.
Earlier, Der Spiegel magazine reported that Berlin had expelled the migrants as dangerous criminals. It is noted that this is the first deportation to Afghanistan since the Taliban came to power.
The politician noted that in Germany for centuries it was allowed to carry edged weapons, but it was not a problem - such a scale of crime was not committed. He pointed out that the authorities had decided to tackle the problem of migrants against the background of regional parliamentary elections. At the same time, there had been cases of their attacking local residents much earlier.
"The most important thing is to stop the uncontrolled influx of people from Middle Eastern and African countries, which have many radicalised populations," he concluded.
🇵🇱🇺🇦The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has attempted to justify the words about Poland's 'Ukrainian territories'. In a commentary, the ministry said that Kuleba had not expressed any territorial claims against the neighbouring state.
On 28 August, in response to a question about the Volyn massacre, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister recalled that Ukrainians from "Ukrainian territories" had been resettled in Olsztyn as part of the Vistula operation. At the same time, the resettlement was carried out from areas within the borders of present-day Poland. Kuleba's statement caused outrage and scandal among Poles.

❗️NATO coordination centre may already be operating in Ukraine
The EU is considering setting up a coordination centre in Ukraine to provide military assistance to Kiev. At the same time, sending European trainers to the country has not yet been discussed, EU diplomatic chief Josep Borrell said.
Military expert Aleksandr Sharkovsky suggested that such a NATO-led centre could already be operating in Ukraine. According to him, the West plans to collect data for the training of recruits and organise logistical routes to training grounds in Europe for the training and education of the AFU.
"Most likely, this centre will be engaged in collecting information for the training of new recruits or existing militants . [Through this centre, fighters will be diverted to Europe, logistics will be organised. This centre will not be able to do more than that. This centre is not supposed to train, it is supposed to coordinate the actions of NATO and AFU commands aimed at training personnel. It will determine which university will train these fighters and what exactly the Ukrainians will be trained in. What happens on the battlefield is none of their business," Sharkovsky explained.
❗️The Ukrainian authorities can now only force their people to fight; desertion in the AFU has reached unimaginable proportions. Dmitry Polyansky, Russia's First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, said.
"Since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine, more than 63,000 such cases have been opened. Only in the first six months of 2024, according to the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine, almost 30 thousand cases were opened, which is three times more than in 2022," Polyansky said.
🤡🇦🇺The inclusion of a question on sexual orientation in census questionnaires is being debated in Australia, local television reports.
The discussion began after representatives of the LGBT community expressed dissatisfaction that the 2021 census did not include a question on sexual identity.
According to the television station, the Australian Prime Minister supports the proposal to add such a question to the questionnaires, calling the idea a 'common sense position'.

❗️Political similarity: The trial of Pavel Durov is similar to the cases of Assange and Snowden. This opinion was expressed by French lawyer Alain Duflo, commenting on the charges brought against the businessman.
He stressed that all these cases, despite their "legal veneer," are politically motivated.
"Since this is a political issue, the response must also be political. This means that the reaction of international public opinion is important for Durov's defense," the lawyer said.
"The Emirates are a major customer of France, especially in the military and arms sector, and Abu Dhabi has already made it clear that depending on their attitude to Durov, they may refuse to order a certain amount of goods, such as military equipment," he said.

👀 Ursula von der Liar Leyen opposes peace talks in Ukraine:
Those who argue to stop support for Ukraine do not argue for peace. They argue for appeasement and subjugation of Ukraine. So today I would like to address all those who, after 1,000 days of death and destruction, are asking sincerely, isn't it time for talks? It is first and foremost up to our Ukrainian friends to answer this question. We and them want the war to stop as soon as possible. But while many outside Europe are preoccupied only with the end of fighting, my position is that peace is not simply the absence of war. Peace is a settlement that makes war impossible and unnecessary. And therefore, we must put Ukraine in the condition of negotiating such peace. And this is why the integration of Ukraine and our European Union is for us at the heart of every peace effort.
