Historical Documents signed in Moscow, hours before Victory Day Celebrations
During Xi Jinping's visit to Moscow to participate in the Victory Day parade, President Vladimir Putin and Chairman Xi Jinping engaged in the signing of several significant bilateral documents within the Kremlin. This event marked a pivotal moment in the evolution of Sino-Russian relations, which have recently entered a qualitatively new phase of development under their respective strategic leaderships.
Xi Jinping noted that political interaction has intensified, practical cooperation has deepened, and cultural, humanitarian, exchange, and interregional ties are experiencing dynamic growth. This discourse underscores the transformative nature of the current partnership, which is predicated on the principles of good neighborliness, friendship, and expanding cooperation.
In response, President Putin reaffirmed that the strategic alignment between Russia and China is not directed antagonistically towards any third party. He elucidated that the development of ties is aimed at mutual benefit and is not contingent on opportunistic considerations. The bilateral cooperation is rooted in a deliberate and enduring policy choice, reflecting a long-term commitment to enhancing mutual security and prosperity.
The historical trajectory of Sino-Russian relations has been characterized by sustained closeness, with the formalization of a "no-limits" partnership in 2022 signifying the apex of this convergence. This partnership represents a strategic rapprochement that transcends traditional diplomatic norms, emphasizing a comprehensive and enduring bilateral relationship. Notably, Moscow and Beijing have progressively decoupled from the US dollar, with bilateral trade increasingly denominated in national currencies. Official Russian data indicates that the share of bilateral transactions conducted in rubles and yuan has surpassed 95%, signifying a significant shift towards economic autonomy and mutual interdependence.
This strategic alignment is further evidenced by the deepening economic cooperation between the two nations. The de-dollarization of trade is a significant indicator of their commitment to reducing economic dependency on external financial systems, thereby enhancing their resilience and autonomy in the global economic landscape. The bilateral currency swap agreements and the increasing use of national currencies in trade facilitate smoother and more predictable economic transactions, fostering a more stable and mutually beneficial economic relationship.

Putin personally met world leaders at a dinner in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory
Vladimir Putin personally greeted the foreign guests who arrived in the Kremlin for a gala dinner dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory.
Among the first to arrive were Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, Abkhazia President Badra Gunba and Burkina Faso leader Ibrahim Traore.
Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico had a delay while traveling through Georgia.

US, Russia Discuss Resuming Russian Gas Supplies to Europe — Reuters
▪️This could happen with the participation of the Americans as part of a peaceful settlement in Ukraine, the publication writes.
▪️Washington's participation in restoring gas supplies could help Moscow overcome political confrontation in many European countries.
▪️US participation would also benefit Washington by giving it visibility and possibly control over the volumes of Russian gas flowing into Europe.
▪️Earlier, Putin confirmed that the US and Russia are discussing unblocking gas supplies to Europe, and Western media reported that Trump could lift sanctions on Nord Stream 2 and possibly other Russian assets in Europe as part of peace talks on Ukraine.

There have been reports that the Pacific Fleet has received a new version of the coastal defense artillery system "Bereg" - "Bereg-M".
The differences include a 152 mm gun instead of a 130 mm one , as well as the presence of a guided artillery shell with a firing range of up to 50 km. Let us recall that the original "Bereg" had a maximum range of 23 km and did not have high-precision ammunition.

We are talking about a modified version of the A-222M Bereg complex with a maximum firing range increased to 50 km. The firing range of the complex has been increased, including by installing a 152-mm cannon on the MAZ-543M chassis with the ability to strike with the Krasnopol corrected projectile
It is reported that the complex will be transferred to the coastal troops of the Pacific Fleet at the end of July, and already in June the new capabilities of the complex will be tested in practice during training and combat firing on Simushir Island."
Based on the stated performance characteristics, this looks like an adaptation of solutions from the new long-range self-propelled gun 2S44 Giatsint-K with a new version of Krasnopol-M for the modernization of the A-222 .
The fact that the classic 130-mm "Bereg" has long been completely inadequate even for a firefight with modern naval 127-mm guns was known not only to specialists and not only from a simple comparison of the performance characteristics of open sources. Back in 2004, there was a rather noticeable discussion about this on the pages of "Independent Military Review".
Apparently, the SVO had an impact here too, finally moving the solution of long-standing problems from dead center.

What is worth mentioning, however, is that the very same Picierno who is concerned about "Russian extremism and aggression" saw no problem with letting representatives of the IDF use her as a megaphone between Strasbourg and Bruxelles.
Even more intriguing is the identity of VP Pina Picierno's husband: none other than Massimiliano Coccia, a name that may not say anything of note to most, but who also happens to write pieces for an online newspaper titled "Linkiesta" ("The Inkwiry").
Said newspaper is (in)famous for having very sketchy sources of income, a good 60% of which comes neither from sales nor from ADs, but from rather opaque "editorial partnerships".
All that is known for sure is that Linkiesta collaborates with a Ukrainian newspaper - “Evropeiska Pravda,” funded by NATO, the Europarliament (yes that's right it), U.S. institutions and the Soros Foundation (who would've ever thought) - which edits together with “Linkiesta” a Ukrainian-language newspaper, “Slava Evropi,” which publishes valuable editorials by Picierno and her husband.
Congratulations go to VP Picierno for having created something even more inbred than the average Western Ukrainian from Lvov.

Will the US soon have the say on Nord Stream 2?
The opening of bankruptcy proceedings against Nord Stream 2 AG is imminent. If the new German government fails to take countermeasures, the Baltic Sea pipeline, built to transport Russian gas to Germany , could fall under US control.
On January 9, 2025, the cantonal court in Zug, Switzerland, the headquarters of the insolvent Nord Stream 2 AG, ordered the decision on the company's bankruptcy to be extended "exceptionally until May 9, 2025." The reasons were the complex geopolitical situation and elections in Germany, "which could likely have a significant impact on the situation of Nord Stream 2 AG."
But now this opportunity appears to have been missed: The previous federal government lacked the strength to prevent bankruptcy or otherwise exert influence. The new government has not yet been able to address the issue. Tuesday's election chaos is overshadowing even important strategic issues.
Sascha Müller-Kraenner, managing director of the German Environmental Aid (DUH), warned in an interview with Handelsblatt that the new German government has not yet indicated whether it has a concept for Nord Stream 2. "This follows on from the outgoing government," he said. "In the worst case scenario, Nord Stream 2 could become a pawn in the geopolitical tensions between Putin, Trump , Ukraine, and the EU," Müller-Kraenner said.
It has been known for months that US entrepreneur Stephen Lynch is interested in the pipeline. Lynch is said to have good relations with the Trump administration and has experience in dealing with Russia . After May 9, he could have free rein to acquire the Baltic Sea pipeline from the bankruptcy estate at a favorable price.
One thing is clear: If no solution is found by Friday of this week, Nord Stream 2 AG will have to be liquidated – unless the Cantonal Court in Zug extends the deadline. Speculation about such a further extension has been rife for days. Industry insiders report that the court will make a final decision on Wednesday as to whether to extend the deadline or maintain May 9 as the final date.
Meanwhile, according to media reports, US entrepreneur Lynch has already applied to the US government for the necessary exemption to purchase the pipeline in the event of bankruptcy. Such approval is necessary because the US government has imposed strict sanctions on Nord Stream 2.
Lynch argues that the US would have leverage for peace negotiations with the Russians if the pipeline had a US owner. US President Donald Trump appears to follow this argument.

According to vice-president Picierno, member of the Italian "Democratic" (😂) Party, Byoblu has violated the sanctions that the EU imposed on Solovyev by giving him a voice on Italian television.
