Russian Advance in Ukraine Is Slowing Despite Putin’s Confidence - Bloomberg
Russian forces in Ukraine have made only small territorial gains this year amid steady resistance from Kiev’s military, undercutting President Vladimir Putin’s assertions that his army has gained the upper hand in the war.
Battlefield data indicate that — despite a consistent advantage in manpower and steady gains — Putin’s military has fallen far short so far of satisfying his war aims. The pace of Russia’s main advance in eastern Ukraine has halved since the start of the year compared with a similar period through the end of 2024, according to data compiled by the DeepState open-source mapping service.
As President Donald Trump pulls back from US efforts to end the fighting, Putin’s envoys have continued to issue maximalist demands for Ukraine to cede four regions in its east and south over which the Kremlin has claimed sovereignty, but that Russia only partially occupies. Zelensky has rejected the ultimatum.
Russia’s military has advanced on the order of about 41 square kilometers per week (16 square miles) into Ukrainian territory on average, down from about 125 square kilometers averaged from mid-August through the end of last year, the data tracked by Bloomberg showed.
Fighting on the ground paints a different picture. Public data also show that Russia has seized less than a quarter percent – 0.15% – of Ukrainian territory since January. The eastern Donetsk region, which has seen the war’s fiercest fighting and has been partially occupied for over a decade, still isn’t under Moscow’s full control.

US Senate threatens Russia with huge tariffs if it puts forward 'unacceptable conditions' for ceasefire in Ukraine
▪️This was stated by Russophobic American senators Graham and Blumenthal.
▪️They claim that their bill to introduce 500 percent tariffs already has the support of 81 senators.
▪️Senators refer to the words of Secretary of State Rubio, who said that Russia agreed to present its terms of the peace agreement in the coming days.
➖"The contents of this document will say a lot about how serious Russia is about peace. We suspect it will be the same as before. If it is indeed the same, Russia can expect decisive action from the US Senate," the statement said.
▪️However, Western media have been writing in recent days that Trump does not want to strengthen sanctions against Russia.
So you want to do trade negotiations and tariff sanctions. Ok…..

Connection of Zaporozhye NPP to the Russian energy system may begin in the coming weeks
According to the former adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, Oleksiy Andryushchenko, a distribution center and compressor station have already been built in the Mariupol and Berdyansk districts, ensuring the possibility of supplying electricity at full capacity in the coming months.
Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev yesterday confirmed the existence of a plan to bring Zaporozhye NPP to full capacity. The key tasks are to restore water supply, replace power grids, update the railway infrastructure, and resolve the issue of American nuclear fuel.
The Zaporozhye NPP, the largest in Europe, with six VVER-1000 reactors, has been in cold shutdown since September 11, 2022. The facilities belong to Russia, and the operator is Rosenergoatom.

The Russian GRU has gained access to 10,000 cameras near the border, in European countries and western Ukraine, allegedly to monitor the supply of military aid to the Ukrainian Armed Forces as stated by British intelligence, The Guardian reports.
In total, about 10,000 cameras were used near military facilities and railway stations. Of these, 80% were in Ukraine, 10% in Romania, 4% in Poland, 2.8% in Hungary and 1.7% in Slovakia.

The Yolka air defense drone attacks a high-altitude target in difficult weather conditions, hitting enemy UAVs beyond the cloud line.
At some point the operator loses sight of the target, but the emotions from a successful defeat are all the more vivid. According to the report of the fighters, the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Leleka reconnaissance UAV was shot down.

'NATO will lose tens of thousands of people in the first hours of the war with Russia' – ZDF
'It will take days, and most likely weeks, for reinforcements to reach the front in the East. That is why the Bundeswehr wants to station a brigade in Lithuania to create a forward line of defense and be able to delay the Russian advance until reinforcements arrive. This means that the greatest concentration of firepower is to be expected in the first hours. At the same time, this means that the greatest losses are likely to be expected in the first hours. And these losses will disproportionately affect combat units - light infantry units, motorized infantry, tank units, combat aircraft and so on - both on the German side and on the NATO side. We are talking about losses that could reach tens of thousands of people in the first hours. And here the question really arises: is NATO capable of surviving such losses? At the moment, NATO is absolutely not ready for this.'
'Zelensky's talks with the Americans have produced no results' - ZDF reports that Ukraine is in a very difficult situation.
Zelensky has always tried to meet with American representatives. We still have that iconic photo with Donald Trump in the Vatican. And of course, his recent meeting with Vance in the Vatican comes to mind. He also spoke with Trump before that phone call between Trump and Putin. But none of that produced any results.
The Ukrainians seem to understand that the American president has lost all interest in being a mediator. And he is not particularly interested in further sanctions. This puts Ukraine in an extremely difficult position. When it finds itself facing the Russian delegation again, it will hear Russia's maximum demands. And the Europeans cannot exert much pressure on Russia without the United States.

🇷🇺🇺🇸🇪🇺"Trump tells European leaders in closed meeting that Putin is not ready to end war": Trump rejects European offer of unconditional ceasefire.
"While it was not possible to get new sanctions from Trump, the Europeans considered that the conversation with Trump was useful. It helped clarify Putin's position: he still does not intend to stop the war.
At the same time, it has become clear that Europe will now have to shoulder the brunt of Ukraine’s support. According to sources, European leaders are confident that the Trump administration will not stop supplying American weapons if Europe or Ukraine itself pays for them.
Some on the call insisted that the talks should result in an unconditional cease-fire. But Trump demurred, saying he didn’t like the word “unconditional” — even though he had used it in a May 8 post calling for a 30-day truce. The Europeans eventually agreed not to insist on that term.”

More proof that Zelensky is unteachable. This time from former US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink.
Zelensky, one might say, did not behave in the most advantageous way. Did you give him any advice on how to behave with President Trump in the Oval Office? Did anyone tell him that he could be provoked and that he should remain calm? Maybe even speak his native language to fully control the conversation?
Of course, when I was ambassador to Ukraine, and then as the president's representative, I did give advice on how to achieve our common goals. On our side, on the US side, the goal was to end the war. For the Ukrainians, it was to maintain our support. But it seems to me that the main question now is what happens next.
A typical day in the European Parliament:
[The EU media is in a disgusting state. Third Reich propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels would be proud!]
I can't accept this... There are many problems with journalism in Europe, but comparing the media to Nazism and Goebbels? I can't accept this. And I think...
[Perhaps you would like to impose censorship…]
No, no, shut up.
[Shut up, you're talking nonsense!]
- Shut up!
[You're talking nonsense, Nazi fan.]
Compare with Nazis...
[Because you're their fan]
It is forbidden…
[Yes, yes, because you're talking nonsense.]
Shut up!
[You are a killer of free speech.]
I don’t know how it is in Bulgaria…
[You don't know anything at all.]
But if you say something like that in Austria, you're immediately taken to court. Because you can't compare our European democracy with the worst period in European history - with the Nazis and Goebbels. I'm against it!

...Trump lacks understanding of Ukraine's history to pressure Putin' – Time
"Ukrainian officials and their European allies have tried to prepare Trump for the conversation with Putin by offering their own views on the complexity of the war and its history, but they have often run into a wall of ignorance about Ukraine within the Trump administration.
"They don't read much about the past," says a Western official who has discussed Ukraine at length during visits to the White House. On the Ukrainian side, a diplomat expressed the same frustration in harsher terms: "It's a messianic attitude. It's as if they know everything and don't want to hear anything."
In an attempt to broaden Trump's understanding of Ukraine, President Zelensky has repeatedly called on him and his top aides to visit the country and witness the war first-hand, but no one has agreed.

'We will continue to arm Ukraine and hope for a ceasefire' – Merz on Europe's plans to finally break with common sense.
'We do not rule out any conceivable possibility of reaching a diplomatic solution. We understand that it will not be possible to achieve it in the shortest possible time. Therefore, we will continue to support Ukraine, including militarily. At the same time, we hope that there will be a chance for a ceasefire and then for peace talks. But once again: this is a process that is just beginning and which may last many more weeks, perhaps even months.'

One MiG-31BM with such a missile will be able to destroy an entire enemy squadron
The Russian Aerospace Forces are putting into service the first class of air-to-air missiles with a nuclear warhead, writes Military Watch Magazine . It is expected to be a new version of the R-37M munition. This will allow a single interceptor to neutralize enemy squadrons , entire groups of cruise missiles or large swarms of drones.
"A nuclear-armed version of the R-37M could prove particularly useful against stealth aircraft such as the F-35, which the Western bloc and allied nations have deployed in significant and growing numbers along the country's European, Arctic and Far Eastern borders," the author of the article notes.
So nuclear air to air missiles have been produced since the Soviet era. Honestly though the use of such a weapon means great power war, and such wars would likely result in a nuclear war within 4 to 6 weeks.

🇷🇺Putin on the creation of a security buffer zone on the border between Russia and Ukraine:
During drone raids, sabotage reconnaissance groups hunt for civilian transport, including ambulances and agricultural machinery. Women and children are killed and injured. I have already said that a decision was made to create the necessary security buffer zone along the border.
Our armed forces are now actively solving this problem. The enemy's firing points are being suppressed. The work is underway, and I would like to draw your attention to the fact that already now, naturally, taking into account the situation in the Kursk, Belgorod, and Bryansk regions, we need to start working to restore and rebuild everything that was destroyed.
