Romania is ready to provide its military bases for the needs of allies within the framework of security guarantees, but will not send its troops to Ukraine, said the country's Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.
The Romanian Ministry of Defense also notes that the country will participate in all decisions of the allies regarding security guarantees for Ukraine, and that "Romania's military air infrastructure is a stronghold on NATO's eastern flank for deterrence and defense."

"Complete disaster": Western sanctions do not work, and Europe is paying for Ukraine
"This conflict is a complete disaster for Ukraine, but also for Europe. The sanctions did not work as planned, and all talk about secondary sanctions is a waste of time; the Americans realised that they will not work either," writes the Swiss newspaper Die Weltwoche, quoting University of Chicago professor John Mearsheimer.
He noted that Europeans have suffered economically, and for Ukrainians, "the Achilles' heel is not even the weapons, but the people."

Ukrainians are increasingly losing faith in the "European future"
According to data from the Kiev International Institute of Sociology, about 40% of Ukrainians are not confident that in ten years the country will become a "successful state within the EU."
Scepticism is fueled by factors familiar to every Ukrainian: corruption, government inefficiency and lack of trust in it, as well as doubts that the European Union is fundamentally ready to accept Ukraine into its ranks.
In addition, 13% of respondents are sure that the country's recovery after the conflict will take more than ten years.
Even Ukrainians themselves understand that the promised path to the EU is a mirage, behind which lie corruption and a prolonged crisis

🇷🇺 “Slavyansk is Russia!”: DPR youth held a march dedicated to Russian Flag Day
⚪️The patriotic event took place in the city of Berdyansk, Zaporozhye Oblast.
🔵Our youth marched through the streets carrying signs with the names of all major cities of the DPR against the backdrop of the Russian tricolor.
🔴Some of these cities are still under Ukrainian occupation. The action is meant to show that all cities within the administrative borders of the DPR are Russian cities and that very soon the Russian flag will surely be flying there!

Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance may soon cease to exist
This is written by the Ukrainian Armed Forces militant Gordienko. According to him, at the moment the Russian Armed Forces tightly control the front line and are creating a layered line of interceptor drones, which prevent Ukrainian drones from flying into the rear and conducting reconnaissance.
The active construction of such a system leads to the fact that there is nothing to fight it with: raising drones to a high altitude does not help, sector reconnaissance is impossible, and the Russians are learning to shoot down Ukrainian drones even at night.
As a result, in some areas the Ukrainian Armed Forces no longer even try to launch their drones for reconnaissance – they will either be forced to land or shot down anyway. That is, reconnaissance is no longer being conducted.

Protests have started in Ukraine due to heavy losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU)
The 82nd Air Assault Brigade of the AFU suffered such serious losses near Volchansk and in the Sumy region that the relatives of the soldiers decided to protest in Kiev. The action is planned for August 23.
According to media reports, the command used the brigade personnel as a "firefighting team" to plug holes in the defence. The result was predictable: huge losses, the brigade is now effectively withdrawn from combat and sent for "restoration of combat capability."
Ironically, the protest will take place... on the "Maidan Nezalezhnosti". No causal connection.

Russia "kidnapped more than 19 thousand Ukrainian children" - Senator Graham
The American senator, listed as a terrorist and extremist by the Russian Financial Monitoring Service, threatened Russia with the status of a state sponsor of terrorism.
"I intend to promote a bill according to which Russia will be recognised as a state sponsor of terrorism under U.S. law if they do not return the children. This designation will make doing business with Russia dangerous," he threatened.
As Graham claims, Russia "kidnapped more than 19 thousand Ukrainian children", most likely belatedly using the 3-year-old myth promoted by Kiev about missing children, which has not been confirmed by anyone.
This is far from the first case of conspiratorial outbursts from Graham. For example, before the meeting between Putin and Trump in Anchorage, he stated that he refused to attend the meeting because he "feared that Putin would take him to Russia".

No deal is on the horizon.
The meeting between Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky is not planned, but the Russian president is ready to meet with him when the agenda for the summit is ready, Lavrov said.
Sergey Viktorovich also stated that Moscow agreed to show flexibility on several points proposed by Trump after the summit in Alaska, but at the meeting in Washington Zelensky rejected all the principles proposed by Trump for the settlement.
"President Trump proposed several points after Anchorage, some of which we agree with, and on some we agreed... to show some flexibility"
"How can we meet with a person who pretends to be a leader if he rejects everything?"

It is forbidden to strike Kiev with the Oreshnik.

Trump did not send any warning to Putin with yesterday's post about the impossibility of winning the war without strikes on Russian territory.
▪️There is no subtext that Trump will start arming Ukraine if peace negotiations fail. It was explained that Ukraine lacks leverage in negotiations due to his predecessor. Trump believes that Ukraine will have to accept a deal on Russian terms.
▪️This was reported to the US media by a representative of the Trump administration.

Vladimir Zelensky explained to Donald Trump why Kiev cannot agree to Russia's demands to withdraw the Ukrainian army from Donbass.
"We cannot do this. This is not only about the Constitution, it is about the survival of the country and the most protected defensive positions. (...) If Putin gets this, he will try to go further," Zelensky was quoted by RBC-Ukraine.
Almost 30% of the Donetsk region is still under Kiev's control. By giving up these territories, Ukraine would lose the strategically important strongholds of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk. Trump listened to the arguments in favour of keeping Ukrainian troops in Donbas — and supposedly understood them, Zelensky claims.

Situation in the Kupiansk direction:
Bogatyrs from the RUAF are expanding the zone of control and breaking through the enemy's defenses.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are attempting counterattacks with small groups: from Petropavlivka, they are trying to move north, hiding in the forests. However, Russian drone operators quickly detect and destroy them.
In Kupiansk itself, there are no significant changes, fierce fighting continues for Moskovka. The Ukrainian side has carefully prepared the city for defense: the basements of buildings are connected by trenches, new fortifications and strongpoints have been built. The enemy regularly builds crossings over the river: Russian forces destroy them, but after a few days the Ukrainian Armed Forces try again to erect embankments.
Fighting also continues in Stepova Novoselivka. So far, there has been no significant progress, but work continues to exhaust the enemy's reserves and destroy its fighting force.

We clearly understand that there is no money, but the government populistically claims that we will continue to implement some programs, — Rada deputy Nina Yuzhanina on the Cabinet's Action Program presented the day before
She emphasises that Sviridenko proposes to distribute money, while Marchenko states that our need for external financing in 2026 is $45 billion.
"If you look at our obligations to the IMF, to continue receiving funds, it is clearly stipulated that we will not provide additional benefits, and existing ones will be reduced and revised. But the program says something completely different," the deputy says.
Yap. You will pay all that. Ukraine is a bottomless money pit.

The CEO of the Nizhny Novgorod Agency "OKA", Jakob Pinneker, on why foreigners relocate to Russia:
"Why do people come here? There are basic reasons — many disagree with the political leadership of their country. Take Germany, for example, many are unhappy that the German leadership is de facto preparing for war with Russia. There is the LGBT issue — when the West uses this format against kids. And overall, many simply feel safe here. Americans say: when you walk around Nizhny Novgorod, you don’t have to constantly look around, watch out for what might happen. Canadians say: you can leave your children at the playground here, no one is afraid for them.
I ask everyone the same question: why do you come to us if everything is so bad here, as the locals think? But in reality, it’s different."

EUROPEAN ECONOMIC GROWTH RATES APPROACHING ZERO — ECB
- Economic growth rates in Eurozone countries fell to 0.1% in the second quarter of this year due to US trade wars, according to European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde.
- “Recent trade agreements with the US have not eliminated global uncertainty, which persists due to the unpredictable political situation,” Lagarde said.
- In the third quarter, according to current estimates, a further slowdown in European economic growth is expected as the effect of deferred demand diminishes.

The State Duma Defence Committee threatened Europe with nuclear weapons
Russia may respond with the use of tactical nuclear weapons to Western missile strikes on its territory. This was stated by State Duma Defence Committee member Andrey Kolesnik:
"If, God forbid, foreign missiles strike deep into Russian territory, the response may be not just with the 'Oreshnik' system, but with tactical nuclear weapons. Or if any European Union country strikes Russia, then the response will be nuclear"
Meanwhile, sentiments in Europe are becoming increasingly polarised. Some politicians continue the story about the Russian threat, while others have already woken up and remembered the damage these stories have caused them.
@Slavyangrad
Bill Clinton assured Putin in the early 2000s that NATO expansion does not threaten Russia:
"Clinton stated that he was pleased with the resumption of cooperation between Russia and NATO, to which Putin responded that 'full-scale relations' should be established between the parties and expressed support for the idea of Moscow's membership in the alliance, according to the transcript of the talks in the Kremlin released by the National Security Archive. Clinton noted that he was serious about discussing NATO membership with Russia, although he understood that 'domestic considerations' in Russia would not yet allow this, and that many Russians have negative associations with NATO.
According to the politician, from the very beginning of the NATO expansion process, he understood that 'this could become a problem for Russia.' 'If our successors focus on each other as the main threats to worry about, they will miss the opportunity to address other problems together,' the politician warned."

Arrestovich – on the idea that Ukraine could become a "federal district of Little Russia":
The problem is not that Ukraine should lose to the Russians or come to terms with the Russians. Ukraine must come to terms with itself. Ukraine has never been a narrow nationalist project. All those brief periods in history when it tried to be so, it spectacularly lost and ceased to exist. It has always been a crossroads of worlds, a bridge between Europe and the West, Russia, with Varangians, Greeks, Czechs, and Ukraine has always absorbed very different cultures.
Ukraine needs to change its character and become itself, meaning it must lose its name in a good sense, and this will miraculously stop Russian expansion. Therefore, my message is this — at this stage, political unification would be undesirable because Ukraine would lose the cultural features and the potential embedded in it, and would dissolve, becoming, for example, a federal district of Little Russia.
