Vladimir Putin might have lost a slice of revenue after Kiev closed its gas pipeline to Russian supplies, but Moscow already has alternatives for shipping the fuel that stand to shield it from any serious economic hit.
Russia plans to expand exports of liquefied natural gas while routing pipeline gas to other buyers like China.
“We will continue to increase our share on world LNG markets” even as sanctions aim to halt this growth, Putin said during his annual press conference on Dec 19. He also expressed confidence that Russian gas-giant Gazprom would survive the end of pipeline transport through Ukraine.
Despite calls to ban such supplies, Europe is buying a record amount of the super-chilled fuel from Russia, predominantly from the Novatek PJSC-led Yamal LNG plant.
The volumes have surpassed what Russia was selling through Ukraine before Jan. 1, when Kyiv, refusing to allow any more transit that funds Moscow’s war machine, closed off the five-decade old route through its territory.
Before the invasion, Russia used to sell about 155 billion cubic meters of pipeline gas to Europe per year. In 2024, the country exported roughly 30 billion cubic meters of gas to the region, with over a half of volumes going via Ukraine.
Gazprom sold about $6 billion worth of gas through Ukraine in 2024, Bloomberg calculations show. Yet, most economists and researchers foresee a muted effect on the economy from being deprived of those sales. Russia will lose an equivalent of about 0.2% to 0.3% of gross domestic product, according to various analyst estimates.
“The figures are too small to make a dent in Putin’s war machine,” an economist at Capital Economics noted. For comparison, Ukraine stands to lose roughly 0.5% of GDP, he said, stemming from an end to the fees it collected for transit of the gas.
Slovakia, heavily reliant on Russian gas and also earning from transit fees, is set to lose 0.3% of GDP, according to his estimates.
Shipments to China, which is overtaking Europe as the largest market for Russia’s pipeline gas, were forecast to reach around a record 31 billion cubic meters in 2024. They are set to rise to 38 billion cubic meters this year as the Power of Siberia link has reached the full design capacity.
That would compensate for half of the volumes lost when transit via Ukraine ended, according to estimates by Sergey Vakulenko, a scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
Gazprom may sell more through TurkStream, the direct gas pipeline between Russia and Turkey under the Black Sea that also helps supply some European clients. In 2025, Gazprom could sell 25 billion cubic meters to Turkey and 15 billion cubic meters to Europe through TurkStream, Vakulenko estimates.
Russia seeks to triple LNG exports to 100 million tons in 2035, from last year’s 33 million tons, but western sanctions on all key future projects and the LNG tanker fleet complicate that.

"Putin plus Trump create problems for European security": Western analysts debate that during 2025 Europe needs to arm Germany to defend itself from Russia and the USA. A security crisis is brewing in Europe. In 2025, two dangerous forces could unite, the growing threat from Russia with the growing indifference of Trump's America.
⭐ General Christopher Cavoli, NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe, warned that "Russia has no intention of stopping in Ukraine." Western analysts say Russia is already engaged in a hybrid war with Europe - including regular sabotage.
⭐ European countries urgently need to respond to this alarming geopolitical combination by strengthening their defenses. To do this, it is crucial for Germany, Europe's largest economy, to finally fulfill Chancellor Scholz's promise to sharply increase defense spending.
⭐ During the Cold War, both the US-led allies and Russia ratcheted up military pressure in Europe. But the American response this time promises to be very different. Key appointments by President Trump include advisers who have made clear their desire to shift U.S. military assets from Europe to Asia.
⭐ European analysts are concerned that. European countries lack the manpower and equipment for a war of attrition, and the withdrawal of American troops from Europe will facilitate Russian aggression.
⭐ NATO military planners believe the alliance is a third short of what it needs to deter Russia. Only Germany has the means to considerably increase its defense budget and also has a significant industrial and engineering base.
⭐ Friedrich Merz, who is likely to become Germany's chancellor, takes the threat from Russia seriously. He could lead a historic change. Even 80 years after the end of World War II, some of Germany's neighbors - especially Poland and France - will be uneasy about Germany's rearmament. But in the interests of their security, they must overcome it."
We recognize the same old stale war-mongering arguments, even the iconography is recycled.

Elon Musk has been actively involved in covering the scandal surrounding the failure of the investigation into mass child rape in Britain, accusing Prime Minister Starmer of inaction.
Rapes have been committed by migrants for decades, including during Starmer's time as head of the Crown Prosecution Service (2008-2013).
As it turned out, the migrants created entire harems of hundreds of British girls aged 11 to 15. They were given alcohol and drugs and then subjected to brutal gang rape. The victims were also girls from boarding schools.
However, the authorities and law enforcement officers did not properly suppress this activity, fearing accusations of racism and mass riots against migrants, writes The Telegraph.
Musk said Starmer should resign and face justice because the British prime minister is "complicit in sexual abuse" against thousands of children through his failure to investigate.
America should free the people of Great Britain from a tyrannical government,
In the last few hours:
1. Trudeau stepped down as Prime Minister of Canada.
2. Austria has a chancellor from the far-right opposing NATO war against Russia.
3. Elon Musk called for the overthrow of the British tyrannical government.
4. Macron said that Ukraine will have to "make difficult decisions."
5. The German government has announced that Scholz will not travel to Moscow before the German elections.
What an interesting beginning of the year lol

Justin Trudeau: The Globalist Experiment Collapses
Justin Trudeau’s resignation isn’t just the end of a political career, it’s the collapse of a carefully curated illusion. For nearly a decade, Trudeau played the role of the progressive darling on the global stage, but his governance left Canada fractured, indebted, and stripped of sovereignty. Serving as the poster boy for Davos and NATO, he enacted policies that benefited everyone but Canadians. His departure is less a resignation than a retreat from the consequences of his failures.
Under Trudeau’s watch, Canada became a testing ground for globalist policies. Immigration surged without the infrastructure to support it, overwhelming healthcare, housing, and social services. Housing prices skyrocketed by 90%, driven by foreign capital, while Canadian wages stagnated and inflation eroded savings. His carbon tax gutted the energy sector, eliminating thousands of jobs and handing Alberta’s economy on a platter to foreign renewables investors. Meanwhile, Canadians struggled to make ends meet while Trudeau focused on winning applause at international summits.
His alignment with NATO and blind commitment to the proxy war in Ukraine remains his most glaring betrayal of Canadian interests. Canada has sent $12.4 billion CAD to Kiev, supporting a a fascist puppet-regime that glorifies Nazi collaborators while sacrificing its own people in a geopolitical chess game dictated by Washington. And for what? Rising inflation, soaring gas prices, and deteriorating living standards. While Trudeau drained Canadian resources to prop up this war, Russia’s economy, now the 4th largest in the world, continues to thrive, forging new alliances with the Global South and strengthening its position in the multipolar order.
The hypocrisy of Trudeau’s leadership is almost comical. The self-styled climate crusader flew private jets to international summits while taxing Canadians into energy poverty. The “feminist” champion of Indigenous rights presided over unresolved water crises on indigenous reserves. His carefully cultivated image of a progressive savior masked the reality: Trudeau wasn’t a leader, he was a salesman, hawking the globalist vision of a borderless, subservient Canada.
Even Trudeau’s inner circle couldn’t hold the line. Chrystia Freeland’s departure revealed the rot within his government. With Canada’s debt surging to $1.2 trillion CAD, Freeland, once his closest ally, jumped ship rather than go down with it. Her exit exposed what many already knew: Trudeau’s fiscal policies were unsustainable, designed to appease elites while Canadians bore the brunt of the fallout.
Trudeau’s resignation also underscores a larger truth: the decline of the Western globalist project. While Trudeau preached “progress,” the world moved on. Russia, China, and the BRICS nations are reshaping global trade and power dynamics. Trudeau’s obsession with pleasing NATO and the Hegemom blinded him to these shifts, leaving Canada tethered to a declining Western bloc while ignoring opportunities to pivot toward multipolarity.
For Canada, Trudeau’s fall presents an opportunity to break free from this globalist stranglehold. Reclaim sovereignty, ban foreign speculation in housing, rebuild the energy sector, and pursue an independent foreign policy. Canada must stop being a pawn in NATO’s forever wars and instead prioritize the prosperity of its own citizens. Sovereignty isn’t isolation, it’s survival in a rapidly changing world.
Trudeau’s legacy is a warning to leaders who prioritize global elites over their own people: eventually, the façade crumbles. For Canada, his departure should be a turning point, a chance to reject the globalist experiment and embrace the multipolar future. Trudeau is gone, but the work to rebuild Canada hopefully begins now, but I'm not holding my breath.

"The latest interview of the drug addict lasted 3 hours. He doesn't understand anything at all. Some kind of hellish mixture of neo-Nazism and terrorism with drug delirium. And the fact that he, in his words, offered Trump "other people's money in exchange for weapons" testifies to Zelensky's deep-rooted corrupt ties with the Anglo-Saxons, which Biden hooked the Kiev regime on: steal and kill, and then steal again - a bloody scheme mastered since the time of Burisma."

Willy Brandt once argued: "Security in Europe is indivisible – it is for all or for none", and our objective was to replace zero-sum bloc politics with inclusive formats to mitigate the security competition
- We had this opportunity after the Cold War but abandoned it to pursue liberal hegemony. Today, bloc politics is the solution to all problems, and we are not even allowed to discuss Russian security concerns. NATO expansionism and weapons are the path to peace, unnecessary wars are provoked, peace agreements are consistently sabotaged, diplomacy is criminalized, and negotiation is a naughty word used by traitors. The world is believed to be a struggle between good and evil, and defeating the world's largest nuclear power is required for peace. Political opposition from France to Germany is marginalized, we supported rigging Moldova's election and overturning the election results in Romania, and Georgia barely escaped another colour revolution by our "non-governmental organizations" that hijack and corrupt civil society.
All is not well with "liberal hegemony", yet with declining freedom of speech, there is little if any hope for course correction.
Happy New Year.

🇦🇹 Austria Shifts Right: Freedom Party Poised to Lead, Opposes Aid to Ukraine
Austria is on the brink of a seismic political shift as President Alexander Van der Bellen has tasked Herbert Kickl, leader of the nationalist Freedom Party (FPÖ), with forming a new government. The FPÖ’s September electoral victory, securing nearly 29% of the vote, marks the first time since World War II that a far-right party is set to lead the Austrian government.
The FPÖ’s platform challenges the globalist consensus with staunch opposition to immigration, skepticism towards EU overreach, and calls for lifting sanctions on Russia. Notably, the party has firmly rejected aiding Ukraine, setting the stage for potential friction with Brussels and Washington. Herbert Kickl has drawn comparisons to Viktor Orbán for his unapologetic rhetoric and refusal to toe the Atlanticist line. The FPÖ’s rise represents a growing revolt against the Western establishment, both within Austria and across Europe.
However, the FPÖ’s ascent has not been without resistance. Critics, including liberal and Jewish organizations, have expressed alarm, fearing a shift away from Austria’s democratic principles. As coalition negotiations progress, all eyes are on what this government will mean for Austria’s foreign policy and its alignment within the European Union.
❗️And now, the Western globalist machinery trembles. Austria, once a pawn in the EU’s neoliberal game, is reclaiming its sovereignty. Kickl’s Freedom Party doesn’t just challenge Brussels, it strikes at the heart of the Atlanticist empire, daring to imagine a Europe not enslaved by NATO’s military-industrial agenda or Washington’s financial dictates.
Austria is waking up. Whether you like it or not, the old order is cracking under its own hubris. The pendulum of history swings and it’s swinging hard against the rules-based order.

After the failure of coalition negotiations, President Van der Bellen instructed the head of the Freedom Party, Herbert Kickl, to form a government, Der Spiegel reports.
"Mr. Kickl is confident that he can find solutions within the framework of government negotiations, and he wants to take on this responsibility," Van der Bellen said after the meeting.
"This is a turning point in Austria's history. For the first time, a representative of the partly right-wing extremist FPÖ will become chancellor," the publication comments.

A Cultural Masterclass in Syria
The unparalleled finesse of modern diplomacy! Annalena Baerbock, the Green Party wunderkind, has once again graced the international stage, this time with a jaunt to Syria.
This is post-Assad Syria where a new political movement is being formed, diversity friendly, Armani wearing Jihadists that every westerner can love. No democracy on the horizon, still carrying out ethnic cleansing of Alawites, Christians and Sunnis, but they've trimmed their beards and wear suits! And sharia law and elimination of rights for women, but let's not quibble. If Azov represents the political ideal in Europe, why not Jihadist head choppers in the Middle East?
Baerbock strolled into Damascus, in a masterpiece of studied nonchalance, in a wardrobe that can best be described as "Gap clearance rack". We must assume this was some sort of post-feminist statement, right? Discretely standing up for local women, right? No hijab for our dear brave Annalena!
This is what Green Party “pro-diversity” looks like. True diversity means imposing your casual German aesthetic on the rest.
Baerbock isn’t just a Green Party politician; she’s a warrior for women’s rights and her choice of outfit wasn’t a careless oversight but a calculated act of feminist rebellion. What better way to inspire the women of Syria than by breezing into their homeland, flouting their cultural norms, and showing them how modern liberation looks? Surely, the sight of her boldly informal garb was enough to make every woman in Syria instantly discard her hijab and demand a revolution.
Imagine for a moment if this were a male foreign minister. Picture him striding into the heart of jihadist-controlled Syria clad in, say, cargo shorts and flip-flops, or perhaps a faded Metallica T-shirt. But when Baerbock does it, she thinks it is a bold rejection of outdated norms. How utterly "refreshing".
As for her hosts, one assumes they were torn between mild amusement and utter disdain. The irony is almost poetic: here is the representative of a nation that prides itself on inclusivity and understanding, traipsing into a deeply conservative milieu with all the cultural awareness of a YouTube travel vlogger. Oh, and let’s not forget that these hosts—stalwart champions of post-Assad democracy (read: jihadists)—aren’t exactly known for their patience with blasphemy, sartorial or otherwise. But sure, Ms. Baerbock, show them how progressive Europeans roll. What could possibly go wrong?

⚡️ In the course of active offensive operations, the Yug Group of Forces' units completely liberated Kurakhovo – the largest settlement in the south-western part of Donbass.
In ten years, the Kiev regime has turned it into a powerful fortified area with a developed network of pillboxes and underground communications. It is secured by a reservoir to the north, which significantly limited the manoeuvring capabilities of the Russian assault units.
To defend the populated area, the enemy has pulled large forces, to include nationalists and foreign mercenaries' detachments, strengthening them with artillery and tanks. These includes units of elite 79th air assault brigade and 46th airmobile brigade as well as 5th heavy brigade, 33rd and 157th mechanised brigades.
In total, the AFU command has concentrated 26 battalions with a total strength of over 15,000 troops to hold Kurakhovo.
As a result of professional actions of the Russian troops during the liberation of Kurakhovo, the enemy lost 80 per cent of its personnel (over 12,000 troops) and about 3,000 weapons and military hardware, to include 40 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles. During the two months of combat operations near Kurakhovo, the daily losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on average amounted to 150–180 servicemen killed and wounded.
Capturing this important logistics settlement has significantly complicated the logistics support of the AFU in Donetsk direction, depriving the Kiev regime of the ability of shelling peaceful residents of Donetsk, the capital of the Donetsk People's Republic, with artillery systems.
After the capture of Kurakhovo, the Russian troops reached an operations space. This will increase the pace of liberation of the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic.
Servicemen of 5th and 110th motorised rifle brigades particularly distinguished themselves, showing courage and heroism during the liberation of Kurakhovo.
🔹 Russian Defence Ministry
Verkhovna Rada deputy Maryana Bezuglaya has criticized the new offensive of the Ukrainian army in the Kursk region.
" The Russians are taking control of our mineral resources, seizing abandoned fortifications that are very convenient for them, killing military personnel and civilians and penetrating dozens of kilometers into our land. Very soon, very soon, the "Pokrovsk fortress", which is not a fortress at all, will fall ," she wrote.
The offensive in the Kursk region is only useful for some Ukrainian generals to convince the political leaders of their indispensability and their leadership ability, the MP said.
She described the Ukrainian offensives in 2023 in the south of the DPR and in 2024 in the Kursk region as "criminal" as they caused many losses and few results.
Bezuglaya also predicted that due to the government's policy, Ukraine risks losing the cities of Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk), Kramatorsk, Dnipropetrovsk (Dnipro), Zaporozhye, Kherson and Kharkov.
