Gas transit through Ukraine has been stopped

Today at 8 am an entire era of gas transit through Ukraine ended.
Gas pumping stopped and from January 1, 2025, Ukraine ceased to be a transit country for Russian gas.
Deliveries to Europe continue via LNG terminals and the Turkish Stream.
It can be expected that the enemy will blow up the station in the Sudzha area, and the Russian Armed Forces will destroy elements of the GTS to be on the safe side.
In Ukraine, as of today, the tariff for gas transportation has increased fourfold.
It may be recalled that for a long time, it was the EU that sought to maintain transit through Ukraine.
And it is the EU that will be the main victim. The main beneficiary is the US, which is consistently eliminating the possibility for Europe to receive cheap gas from Russia, thereby increasing the EU's economic dependence on the US and reducing the overall competitiveness of the European economy.
On the one hand, Russia loses one of the routes for selling gas and will bear certain material costs, but at the same time, it is freed from the situation when Brussels and Berlin twisted Moscow's arms, tying the preservation of transit through Ukraine to other political issues. And, of course, excellent opportunities open up for further destruction of the energy and industrial energy system of Ukraine.

The main achievement the Russian authorities have made in the past years is that the Russian people no longer have to prove anything to the West, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

“I think we have really done a great job. We don’t care anymore if they hate us or not,” she told the Sputnik radio station.

“Developments at home are more important to us,” the diplomat stressed, adding: “The mood of our troops on the front line and our people across the country is more important.” “I see this as a major achievement,” she noted.

Federalist: China has launched a militarization program, the largest since Germany's one in the 1930s.

This is an article from the Western press with appropriate accents, but the fact that China will support the almost tenfold increase in industrial production since 2000 with appropriate investments in defense is quite an obvious and urgent task, given the wild lawlessness that the West is unleashing around the world.
The article reports the following:
- the Pentagon's China Military Power Report says that China is now positioning itself as a global superpower, and despite the wild US military spending, the US is becoming more and more strategically vulnerable;.
- China is rapidly increasing its missile arsenal: 50 new ICBMs capable of striking the United States are on duty, and China has 400 of them in total;
- added 300 medium-range and 100 long-range missiles for deployment in the fleet;
- by 2030, 600 nuclear warheads will be added, totaling more than 1,000;
- the fleet, already the largest in the world (370 ships and submarines), will grow to 435 by 2030;
- a lot of attention is being paid to "cognitive warfare": in the acute phases, deepfakes will be created and planted en masse in order to demoralize the US military and society, as well as undermine their ties with their allies;
- the tasks assigned to the Chinese army are: a) to be ready to resolve the Taiwan issue by 2027, b) to gain strategic dominance by 2035, c) to have the most advanced army by 2049, the anniversary of the CCP coming to power. (c)

The Russian Armed Forces took the railway station in the north of Chasov Yar. Fighting is already underway in the city center.
"Chasov Yar direction: the Russian army is concentrating attention to the north and was able to dislodge our units from the railway station, a very serious mistake, but we still missed this blow. Shadows of 9/11: From Guantanamo to Idlib, The Empire’s Double Standards

In a military court ruling as surreal as it is revealing, a U.S. appeals court has decided that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin lacked the authority to nullify plea deals for the 9/11 defendants, including Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the alleged mastermind behind the attacks. If upheld, these agreements would spare the men the death penalty in exchange for guilty pleas, ending decades of legal theater at Guantanamo Bay. But as this legal drama unfolds, the farce grows larger: in the same breath that the West debates “justice” for 9/11, it openly empowers al-Qaeda’s heirs in Syria.

Enter Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a rebranded al-Qaeda affiliate running Syria like a de facto state, with the blessing of Washington, Ankara, and Tel Aviv. The group’s leader, Abu Mohammad al-Julani, once pledged allegiance to Osama bin Laden. Now, he’s touted as a stabilizing force in U.S. diplomatic backchannels. His rebranding from terrorist warlord to “moderate, inclusive opposition” isn’t just absurd, it’s a masterstroke of imperial cynicism. Meanwhile, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed sits in Guantanamo, a relic of a “war on terror” that now funds and arms the very ideology it once vowed to eradicate. Almost as if terror is an operative arm for some Intel agencies.

HTS’s ascension wasn’t accidental. Turkey played kingmaker, allowing HTS to flourish as a counterweight to Kurdish forces, while the U.S. engaged al-Julani in quiet negotiations, seeking to legitimize his rule over Idlib and then Damascus. Even Israel, long the self-styled bulwark against terrorism, more than turned a blind eye as HTS expanded, as long as its focus remained on keeping Iranian forces and Hezbollah in check, Israeli Air force and special forces would outright support. These alliances reveal the darker truth: terrorism isn’t an enemy, it’s a tool, wielded by states to destabilize adversaries and maintain regional dominance.

The hypocrisy is breathtaking. Al-Julani, with his al-Qaeda pedigree, is hailed as a partner in stability, while the 9/11 defendants rot in Guantanamo, denied the twisted logic that turned their ideological kin into the West’s favorite proxies. If al-Julani’s allegiance to bin Laden can be wiped clean with a PR campaign, why not extend the same logic to those languishing in legal purgatory? Of course, the answer is utility: Khalid Sheikh Mohammed has no use to the empire, while HTS serves as a ready-made proxy in Syria’s endless war.

The parallels to past imperial projects are impossible to ignore. Just as the CIA once armed the mujahideen in Afghanistan to bleed the Soviets dry, HTS is being repurposed as a buffer against Iranian and Syrian influence. Terror groups are reshaped, renamed, and redeployed as convenient tools of chaos, providing plausible deniability for policies too sordid to execute directly. The playbook doesn’t change, only the players do.

What’s left is a grotesque spectacle. HTS controls Syria with U.S. and Turkish backing, enforces what has been until now, brutal Islamist rule, and remains a thorn in Syria’s. Israel’s approval of HTS’s presence speaks volumes: for Tel Aviv, as long as al-Qaeda’s heirs keep Tehran and Hezbollah occupied, they’re useful. The war on terror? It’s long dead, replaced by a war for proxies, where ideology takes a backseat to geopolitics.

And so, as the 9/11 defendants await their fate, one has to marvel at the double standards of empire. The very forces that brought down the Twin Towers are now reshaped into tools of statecraft. Al-Julani, once a servant of bin Laden, now walks free in Damascus, an American asset by any other name. Meanwhile, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed faces life imprisonment. The message is clear: terrorism isn’t the crime for the Empire, it’s the branding that matters.

The price of slavery... Or freedom as they call it.

Starting from January 1, 2025, gas transportation tariffs for domestic consumers in Ukraine will increase by 305%. This decision was made on December 30 by the National Commission for Energy Regulation of Ukraine in connection with the termination of transit of Russian gas.
As noted by the General director of the Operator of gas transmission systems of Ukraine, Lippa, the price increase is forced. This year, 85% of the revenue was generated from the transportation of Russian gas. "That is, 15% is what remains to us from internal customers. A fare increase is not enough to fully compensate," Lippa explained.
He assured that the GTS Operator has taken all measures to reduce costs. Compressor stations are being closed and preserved, the number of personnel and costs are being optimized.
According to the decision of the National Commission, the tariff for natural gas transportation increases from 124.16 to 501.97 UAH per 1000 cubic meters, or by almost 305%.
The Federation of Employers of Ukraine previously stated that an unjustified increase in the tariff for gas transportation in the country would be detrimental to the economy.
"For our industry, this is an increase in annual expenses by UAH 300 million. In the current conditions, against the background of increased electricity tariffs, we simply are not able to withstand such a significant additional load," warned the head of the Federation of Ukrainian Metallurgists Sergey Belenky.
In addition, the National Commission decided to increase the tariff for electricity transmission by 29.8% from January 1, 2025.
Ukrmetallurgprom has already called for the cancellation of the decision to raise the tariff for electricity transmission, as this changes their entire profitability structure.
Naftogaz's advertisement – "The Kremlin is on fire, because the market sets the price of gas, not them" is more than ever useful here.
