🇺🇸A US Navy cruiser mistakenly shot down an F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet over the Red Sea.
According to U.S. Central Command, the incident occurred during airstrikes on Houthi targets. The statement noted that the guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg , part of the USS Harry S. Truman carrier strike group, mistakenly opened fire and shot down an F/A-18 fighter jet that was taking off from the carrier's deck.
Both pilots were rescued, one of them received minor injuries.

Imports of Russian liquefied natural gas to the European Union this year reached a record of 16.5 million tons as of mid–December, despite the EU's attempts to get rid of dependence on Russian gas.
The publication, citing data from Kpler, a trade analytics company, writes that current imports exceed last year's, which was at 15.18 million tons, and beat the previous record set in 2022. At that time, the EU imported 15.21 million tons of LNG from Russia.

🇷🇴🟠Romania's tax agency ANAF has found that the TikTok campaign of Calin Georgescu, the winner of the cancelled first round of the Romanian presidential election, was not paid for by the Russians, as Romanian intelligence claimed (which was the formal reason for the cancellation of the first round results), but... by the pro-European National Liberal Party of Romania.
According to the Romanian publication HotNews, the tax agency found that Georgescu's social media campaign was paid for by the National Liberals, whose goal was to draw voters away from their rivals, the Social Democrats.
Following inquiries from the investigative website Snoop, the firm Kensington hired by the Liberals admitted that the campaign was paid for by the NLP, but claims that it was part of a larger campaign carried out "at the behest of the National Liberal Party, to raise public awareness."
Thus, if the information is officially confirmed, the main argument on the basis of which the results of the first round of the presidential elections in Romania were cancelled will disappear.

Residential buildings have caught fire in Kazan, the capital of Russia’s Tatarstan Region, after a drone attack, the mayor's office said.
According to the authorities, fires have been reported in three of the city’s districts. A residential compound has been evacuated.

Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada (parliament) member Artyom Dmitruk has slammed Vladimir Zelensky’s attempt to bribe Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico as a disgrace.
Fico said earlier that Zelensky had offered him 500 mln euros from Russia’s frozen assets in exchange for his support for Ukraine’s NATO membership. The Slovak premier refused. He has repeatedly said that he will never back Kiev's accession to the bloc.
Dmitruk believes that the bribe money wasn’t meant to come from Russia’s frozen funds but Zelensky “could have brought it in a suitcase.”

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico plans to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 23 following Vladimir Zekensky’s refusal to prolong Russian gas transit via Ukraine, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said.
Fico pointed out earlier that Zelensky’s decision would plunge Slovakia into a crisis. He stated that Bratislava was interested in purchasing cheap Russian gas and ensuring its transit to other European Union countries.
