What is Erdogan's stance on Syria's turmoil?
Since the armed opposition has seized power in Syria, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has made a number of statements both in support of the rebels and in relation to Syria and its people. Erdogan has announced, among other things, the opening of the Turkish-Syrian border in order “to ensure the Syrians safe passage”.
What else has the Turkish leader said about the upheaval engulfing Syria?
◾️On December 6, during his first comments on the situation, he referred to the events as "an opposition march," stating:
"We previously suggested to Bashar al-Assad that he hold a meeting to determine Syria’s fate, but we did not receive a positive response. Idlib, Hama, Homs, and the final goal of the march is Damascus. We hope that it will continue to Damascus without any incident."
❗The withdrawal of French troops from Chad has begun.
Earlier, the local government tore up the defense agreement with France and demanded that the French withdraw their troops. The cleansing of West and Central Africa from France continues.
It is very likely that in the foreseeable future we will see parts of the Russian Afrika Korps in Chad.
But, of course, the suspended status of Russian bases in Latakia will force some adjustments to the pace of Russian activity in Africa.

Germany, Austria mulls sending back Syrian refugees
Chancellor Karl Hehammer has instructed his interior ministry to review all asylum applications granted, with nationalist lawmakers pushing for the repatriation of the tens of thousands of Syrian refugees in Austria, arguing their reason for asylum had now disappeared.
Alternative for Germany MP Sebastian Münzenmaier, meanwhile, cited the Syrians across Germany celebrating the fall of President Assad's government as a sign that it's "time for these people to leave Germany."
There are over 47,000 asylum applications from Syrians pending in Germany - where there are already 974,136 people of Syrian origin resident - and 7,300 in Austria. Both countries have suspended fresh applications.
