The sudden escalation in Syria where anti-government groups launched a sudden offensive towards Aleppo betrays the involvement of several foreign powers, including Israel and the United States, says Seyed Mohammad Marandi, political analyst and professor at Tehran University.
“We see thousands of foreign fighters affiliated to al-Qaida from across Central Asia,” Marandi tells Sputnik. “They've been mobilized and well trained to carry out this assault.”
“Obviously, this is being done in coordination with the United States. The whole dirty war in Syria since 2011 was led by the United States,” Marandi adds. “We know that Jake Sullivan back then, who is now the national security adviser of Biden, said in an email to Hillary Clinton on February 12th, 2012, that in Syria, al Qaeda is on our side.”
“Netanyahu needs war, and he only accepted a ceasefire under a great deal of pressure. So no one has faith in the Israelis. The Israelis have always violated commitments,” Marandi says.
“After all, it is carrying out a holocaust in Gaza, a regime that carries out the Holocaust and continues to do so in front of the eyes of the world after 14 months is not a regime that can be trusted for anything.”
“Israel essentially wants to solidify its position in the region after the ceasefire in Lebanon,” he says. “So Tel Aviv has no intention of stopping – it wants to sow discord among the other players in the region and to force them to react to such challenges.”
“Some countries, for example, may use the weakening of the Arab republic to bolster their influence by supporting radical and extremist groups that Israel tries to use in Syria,” he says. “But such dangerous actions will lead to unpredictable consequences, for these countries and for their allies.”

I'm on the road today, so I'll briefly describe what happened over the last 24 hours.
Starting with the morning strike on the Ukraine. Not exactly an all-time record, but very effective. The Zek regime's air defenses were so "effective" that one of their main information propagandists totally lost it (see screenshot).
Really, how can you keep telling people that you shot everything down (as always) if people can see what's going on?
Meanwhile, the strike was mainly on energy facilities. Considering that all our recent missile strikes were aimed precisely at the energy sector of the part of the Ukraine still under the control of the "expired" Zelensky, the question of it bleeding dry, if not its total annihilation, is now a big one. Anyway, today's strike was a big nail in its coffin.
And not the last one either. And no, this was not our response to the shelling of Kursk by long-range NATO missiles.

Two more African countries respectfully kicked the French out of their territory.
The government of Chad announced that they are tearing up the agreement on defense cooperation with France, the BBC reports. The statement is very polite - representatives of the African country stressed that this is not a complete break, "like in Niger or somewhere else," and France will remain a "partner." On the appointment of Keith Kellogg.
With the appointment of Kellogg as special envoy for the Ukraine it became clear that Trump program on the issue should be read as follows: freeze the conflict along the front line, stake out the remaining territory for the United States, rearm Ukraine, give it security guarantees, postpone Ukraine's entry into NATO for a while, and at the same time reduce the threat of a nuclear clash with Russia.
Kellogg was appointed precisely because he repeatedly proposed exactly such a recipe for resolving the Ukrainian conflict. This plan has been analyzed in detail. Russia will be given an ultimatum. And if it refuses, there will be a new round of escalation — with the supply of the entire range of American weapons to Kiev without restrictions on use.
According to Kellogg, a cease-fire under pressure from Trump is required to preserve "a sovereign Ukraine anchored in the West". On why the "freezing" of conflicts is always a bad idea.

Ankara has decided that the moment is extremely favorable: Russia is conducting a military operation in Ukraine and cannot invest as much as possible in helping the government of Bashar al-Assad. Iran is experiencing difficulties due to the fact that its main striking force in the region, the Lebanese Hezbollah, suffered significant casualties in the fight against Israel (if someone thinks that Hezbollah won it, he is very mistaken).
A favorable situation has developed for Turkey to exert pressure on Damascus on the Kurdish issue and maintain the Turkish military presence in Idlib on a permanent basis. And Ankara decided to pull the conflict out of the freezer in order to achieve a favorable agreement with the Syrian political leadership.
Why was Turkey, which is behind the Idlib armed groups, able to take such a step? Because any "freeze" provides for the possibility of situational "defrosting". And now let's project this situation onto Ukraine. What could happen if Moscow nevertheless agrees to a truce along the frontline? The same thing is happening now in Aleppo: it will receive a strike from the west at the most inopportune moment.

Sadly Syria is in the process of losing control of Aleppo.
Not only the entire countryside west of Aleppo has been lost, but also part of the western quarters of the city, which were taken with such difficulty in 2016.
For the most part, the Syrian troops do not resist and simply run away, throwing equipment and ammunition. There are facts of bribery of a number of Syrian commanders. The division of the Republican Guard simply collapsed without much serious pressure. Individual counterattacks and resistance nodes do not negate the simple fact of the collapse of a large section of the front, in which a huge hole is now expanding. Who is to blame for this? There are almost no Russian troops in Aleppo area (only Russian aviation is present), and there are not many Iranians and Lebanese, so it is problematic to hold the front in these circumstances. The loss of several hundreds fighters in matter of days is not a serious for the HTS and the SNA. The capture of Aleppo will write everything off, especially since they have already collected trophies.
There is a high probability that in the near future the enemy will occupy either part or the entire city. If the SAA holds at least part of eastern Aleppo, it will be a clue for subsequent operations to regain control of the city. I really hope that at least they will succeed in this.
If the city is completely lost, this will be the largest defeat of the SAA since 2016, as well as a serious image blow to Russia and Iran. A kind of remake of Palmyra 2016.
If the city is lost, it will be difficult to retake it.

On last night's Maidan attempt in Georgia.
1. The protests began in the evening. They were attended by a French granny, who acts as Georgian president and who declared herself the only legitimate authority in the country.

He was not invited to presidential debates hosted by Romanian media and didn't pay for political broadcasts on TV, but brilliantly used social media and podcast appearances to get his message out.
🔹 The European Parliament's 🇪🇺 liberal political group, "Renew Europe," Valerie Hyer, has called on TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew to appear before the European Parliament to address concerns of social media interfering in elections. ANCOM, Romania's telecommunications market regulator will ask for the suspension of the TikTok platform in Romania.
🔹 Romania's Supreme Defense Council met to discuss possible risks to the country and its electoral process stemming from social media. Protesting against the results have started using students also, supported by political parties & NGO's against Mr Georgescu.

US national debt is set hit a MASSIVE $57 trillion over the next decade, according to the latest CBO forecasts.
That would be a staggering $34 TRILLION, or 148%, increase since 2020.
This comes as total US federal debt has officially exceeded $36 trillion for the first time in history.
Since the debt ceiling crisis "ended" in June 2023, total US debt is up a shocking $4 TRILLION.
In other words, the US has added an average of $235 billion in debt every month, or $8 billion a day, since June 2023.
Debt crisis is an understatement.

In Germany, the world's oldest needle factory, Schmauser Precision, went bankrupt. It celebrated its 300th anniversary last year, the Münchner Merkur newspaper reports.
