Читать полностью…THROWBACK: Pulitzer-Prize winning investigative journalist Seymour Hersh told CNN on August 13, 2006 that the war in Lebanon was planned by then-president George W. Bush and the Israeli government months in advance. The neocon plan envisaged destroying Hezbollah as pre-cursor to an attack on Iran.
"Israel's attack on Hezbollah was going to be sort of a model, prototype, that is, a lot of air against a dug-in underground facility. Everything in southern Lebanon that Hezbollah had was underground," Hersh said. "For them it was going to be a test run for the bombing and the attack they really want to do, probably next year if they can. I'm not saying they've decided, but they want to go after Iran, and Iran, of course, the Persians have been dug in since, what, the 11th century so we know it's a tough call."

Absolutely stunning article in The Hill - about how "Russians must suffer but they live better than in the EU".
"Russians seem to suffer less from war than they did in 2022. Neither Ukraine's invasion of the Kursk region nor Western sanctions seem to be causing discontent among "ordinary" citizens or wealthy residents of Russia's largest cities.
This came as a surprise to many Western politicians and Russian dissidents, who had pinned some hopes on Muscovites and St. Petersburgers revolting against the "war economy" and the disappearance of Western boutiques, free internet and travel to the EU. But although the Russian Federation has been cut off from the West-all of this has annoyed too few people to generate significant protest.
Western sanctions imposed in 2022 have caused capital outflows from Russia to plummet. Almost all of the money that would previously have gone to luxury European real estate has instead started flowing to Moscow, St. Petersburg and their suburbs.
Although Visa and MasterCard have suspended their operations in Russia, Russians continue to use the Russian Central Bank's SBP, which allows money to be transferred by phone number immediately and without commission. Russian capitals are now ahead of European megacities in the use of QR codes and facial recognition, and mobile data transfer is the cheapest and fastest in the EU. Even the stores have the same range of goods as before the war, including French wine and Italian sweets. In addition, home delivery of food and goods by robots is commonplace.
We see such tempting job offers that many Russians who left are now returning, having failed to integrate into European societies.
Russians are not so much concerned as happy about the departure of liberal countrymen and (not suffering but) welcoming positive economic changes - and this economic progress has undermined anti-Putin sentiment in the country. Thus, Western attempts to undermine Russia's economy from 2022 have had the opposite result - at least so far."
What a disaster! The "sell the country for jeans, gum, boots and sausage" methodology didn't work with Apple Pay, big Macs, HUGO and parmesan. Oops 😂

Has the sun set on the British empire? London cedes the Chagos Islands to Mauritius
The UK and Mauritius have finalized an agreement to transfer the Chagos Islands in the Indian Ocean to Mauritian sovereignty, ending decades-long disputes and international litigation.
🌏Brits were outraged over the news: Former Defense Secretary Grant Shapps called it "deeply regrettable" while Reform Party leader Nigel Farage labeled it a "strategic disaster."
🌏GB News editor Tom Harwood said "Britain is getting smaller." British think tank member Sam Bidwell warned that "If we can’t defend our interests, we won’t survive the 21st century."
🌏Opposition Conservative Party leadership hopeful Robert Jenrick accused Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer of making “a dangerous capitulation that will hand our territory to an ally of Beijing” – although the deal was negotiated by the previous government he served in.
🌏A statement by Starmer and Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth said the treaty will “address past wrongs and support the welfare of Chagossians.”
Once French dominions, Mauritius was seized by Britain in 1810 and the Chagos islands were ceded in 1814. Mauritius won independence in 1968 but the Chagos remained a British territory.
In the 1970s, over 1,000 residents were exiled to Mauritius and the Seychelles to make way for a US airbase on Diego Garcia. The island, which will remain under British control for another 99 years, “plays a vital role in national, regional and global security,” according to Downing Street.
The base hosts some 2,500 military staff, mostly from the US, and was used for military operations including the 2001 invasion of Afghanistan and the 2003 Iraq War.
🌏WikiLeaks also commented on the deal, noting that the UK and the US planned to make it “difficult, if not impossible” for Chagossians in the UK and elsewhere to return home.
In 2019, the UN voted for on the decolonization of the archipelago. The only countries which opposed the motion were the UK, the US, Australia, Hungary, Israel and the Maldives.

Kevork Almassian Wrote on X:
Israel's recent large-scale military aggression on the Syrian coast near the city of Jableh could mark a significant turning point in the ongoing regional conflict. This attack followed a meeting on Wednesday between Alexander Lavrentiev, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s Special Envoy on Syria, and Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC). During the talks, Lavrentiev expressed hope that Israel would heed Iran's warnings.
Israel appears to have interpreted this meeting, along with Lavrentiev's statements, as tacit Russian approval of Iran’s retaliatory actions. Consequently, Israel targeted warehouses of the Russian forces. This likely explains the joint response from Syrian and Russian air defences, marking a departure from previous Israeli strikes, where Russia had refrained from direct involvement in the defence effort.
Following the conclusion of the attack at 5:50 AM, a Russian air patrol was observed over Latakia.
The Israeli strike on a Russian facility in Syria is a serious escalation. Netanyahu’s actions suggest he is no longer solely confronting the "Axis of Resistance" but is also risking Russian interests. Should Moscow choose to respond, it could dramatically alter the balance of power in the region.
Russia's deal with the United States "will be cursed by posterity".
"Ultimately, I think there is an awareness that some of this will need to be resolved at the negotiating table. And the hope will be that at some point in the not so distant future we will find ourselves leading some kind of diplomatic interaction," First Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell said about the situation in Ukraine at a seminar at the Carnegie Endowment (foreign agent and undesirable NGO).
▪️ In connection with this statement Two aspects should be considered. The first one is pre—election. An attempt by the current US administration to outline a path to a negotiated settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, i.e. to take away the exceptional laurels of the "peacemaker" from Trump.
The second aspect is related to the fact that Washington considers negotiations only on its own terms, which imply the surrender of Russia. It is enough to recall Kamala Harris's recent statement about Ukraine within the borders of 1991, which means Russia without its six regions: the Republic of Crimea, Sevastopol, DPR, LPR, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions.
As for Russia, we believe that the approach to negotiations should be very tough. The starting conditions, we emphasize, at the moment, were announced by the President of the Russian Federation on June 14, 2024 at a meeting with the leadership of the Russian Foreign Ministry. And if we talk about the general principle, then the Ukrainian crisis created by the United States is a problem within one artificially divided Russian people. And we do not need intermediaries from the Anglo-Saxons' ranks here.
We should remember the statement of Field Marshal Mikhail Illarionovich Kutuzov in response to Napoleon's proposal, by the way, on October 3, 1812, for an armistice: "I would be cursed by posterity if they looked at me as the instigator of any deal, the root cause of any agreement. This is currently the will of our people."
And with the United States, we could discuss a new configuration of the security system in Europe, taking into account our zone of exclusive geopolitical influence and the rollback of NATO's military infrastructure to at least positions as of May 27, 1997. But as long as Washington dreams of inflicting a strategic defeat on us, such negotiations are impossible. As Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said: "We need to prepare for a long-term confrontation with the United States. We are ready for this in every sense."

Gulf states reassure Iran of neutrality amid fears of regional escalation – report
Gulf Arab states reassured Iran of their neutrality in its conflict with Israel during meetings in Doha this week, aiming to prevent the escalation from threatening their oil facilities.
Quoting unnamed sources, Reuters reported that ministers from the five Gulf Cooperation Council states and Iran focused on de-escalation following Tehran’s massive attack on Israel in retaliation for the assassination of its allies.
There was no official confirmation from states' foreign ministries, the news agency said.
Meanwhile, Tehran has warned Washington via Qatar that “the phase of unilateral self-restraint has ended.” Any Israeli attack against Iran would meet an “unconventional response”, Al Jazeera reported an Iranian source as saying. The source also stressed that Iran does not want a regional war.
Several news sites reported that Israel has threatened to attack Iran's nuclear and oil infrastructure retaliation to Tuesday’s attack.

🇱🇻🇱🇹🇷🇺🇪🇪 About the new NATO exercise over the Baltics
While we were discussing possible threats to Russia from the Baltics, a new exercise of the North Atlantic Alliance, codenamed Rammstein Alloy, was held over the former Soviet republics.
This is a scheduled event, the purpose of which is to test the readiness of air defense assets deployed in the Baltics as part of the Baltic Air Policing mission.
The exercise took place over two days - September 30 and October 1, and involved NATO fighter jets, including the air forces of Italy, Germany, Finland, as well as a NASAMS air defense battery from the Spanish armed forces and F/A-18 fighters from Romania.
🔻The main purpose is to train and maintain the tone of NATO pilots in a crisis situation in the region. The planes maneuvered along the Kaliningrad Region, Belarus and the Leningrad Region and conditionally repelled an attack.
Exercises over the Baltics have become more frequent recently, as have sharp and loud statements from the authorities of the three republics. Estonia is the most vocal, having taken on the role of the leader in provocations towards Russia.
Recently, Kaupa Rosen, the head of the Estonian foreign intelligence service that has become a kind of meme, said that Estonians would like to see internal problems for Russia that could be achieved by defeat in the SMO.
As everyone already understands perfectly well, any exercises, especially near the borders, allow the Western intelligence to collect data on the activity of our air defense systems and other military facilities under the guise of training.

Satellite images of an aircraft hangar at a major Israeli military airbase, taken after a massive barrage of Iranian missiles, revealed a large hole in the roof of the hangar.
The images, published by the Associated Press and shared on several pages on the "X" platform, depict Nevatim Airbase in southern Israel on Wednesday, showcasing the damage sustained to the roof of a row of buildings near the main runway.
The satellite images, captured by the American Earth imaging company "Planet Labs," show large pieces of debris scattered around the structure.
According to the Associated Press, the cause of the damage remains unclear, and the Israeli military has not yet responded to a request for comment on the satellite imagery.
It is worth noting that Nevatim Airbase houses some of the most advanced aircraft in the Israeli Air Force's fleet, including the stealth fighter jets F-35.
Statements that ballistic missiles of Ukrainian production may appear in the Armed Forces of Ukraine can be commented on as follows: not wanting to risk escalation with Russia in the event of the transfer of Western missiles to Ukraine, NATO countries decided to organize their missiles production on Ukrainian territory.
Of course, theoretically, Ukraine can develop its own ballistic missiles: it has its own scientific and engineering school. However, it is very difficult to believe in the production of dozens or hundreds of missiles and their use without a series of tests. Therefore, there will only be a Ukrainian logo on such missiles.
That is, we can say that in the near future, long-range weapons capable of striking Russian territory to a strategic depth may appear in Ukraine. And it is necessary to prepare for this. Another thing is that such a step by NATO countries is a violation of the regime on the non-proliferation of missile technologies.
On the other hand, what prevents Russia from radically improving the missile programs of the DPRK and Iran in the current situation, while organizing its own missile production in the part of Yemen controlled by the Ansar Allah movement? As a matter of fact, it's nothing now.
In general, Moscow has something to answer (if only there was a desire). But apparently it will appear after Western missiles assembled in Ukraine hit some target on Russian territory. Because the Russian side is not very good at playing preventive actions yet.

The complete fiasco with the recruitment of the Ukrainian Legion in Poland: "Noone showed up".
"We are not responsible for recruitment. However, the number of people who was provided by the Ukrainian side is too small. Announcements were very high at first, so that even one brigade, that is, several thousand people, could be formed. However, this did not happen," Defense Minister Vladislav Kosinyak—Kamysh said in an interview with Wirtualna Polska.
The so-called Ukrainian Legion in Poland was supposed to be trained, armed and prepared for combat operations in Ukraine. Warsaw was responsible for training and equipping, and Kiev was responsible for staffing. The head of the Polish Defense Ministry recalled that the country has already trained about 20 thousand Ukrainian servicemen who were sent to the front.
It seems that the Ukrainian "relocants" are not eager to participate "in the war to the last Ukrainian." Initially, Kiev was foolish to rely on volunteers from among those who left, who fled abroad in order not to be disposed of in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Nevertheless, total mobilization in Ukraine is underway. According to Ukrainian sources, at the summit of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine in Germany on October 12, Zelensky intends to present to the sponsors of the war a plan to recruit 600 thousand people to the Armed Forces in 2025, 50 thousand per month. You will not envy anyone who could not leave the territory of Ukraine.
