🇬🇧🚫📰📣Starmer’s Double-Edged Sword: Protecting Free Speech or Muzzling It?

Keir Starmer, the man who claims to be democracy’s last line of defense, gallantly shielding British journalism from intimidation. And yet, it’s hard not to chuckle at the irony. Here we have a former Director of Public Prosecutions, someone who crafted his career in the art of law and control, now masquerading as the champion of press freedom. The same figure who lauds journalism as the “lifeblood” of democracy is simultaneously drafting the blueprint for Britain’s most sweeping online censorship regime. It’s as if Big Brother got a makeover and decided to preach from a pulpit.

Starmer touts his “Online Safety Bill” as a safeguard against “hate speech” and “misinformation.” But these terms are so nebulous they might as well be catch-all nets, ready to ensnare anyone daring to question the state-sanctioned narrative. In Starmer’s Britain, "misinformation" isn’t something to be debated; it's a heresy to be purged. And who gets to decide what constitutes “hate”? Why, Starmer’s own cadre of political gatekeepers, of course.

And let’s talk about his remarkable balancing act between gaslighting vastly different communities while sowing division, classic divide and conquer. On one hand, Starmer exploits far-right provocateurs like Tommy Robinson as manufactured boogeymen to tighten his grip. Robinson is propped up as the specter of extremism, a figure Starmer can “protect” the public from, never mind that he’s also the convenient tool that allows Starmer to centralize control over digital spaces. On the other, Starmer gaslights British Pakistani communities to fear white Brits, all the while weaponizing divisive narratives to keep them in a perpetual state of hate and gratitude, fearful of a political system that can easily turn its wrath on them.

But it’s in his selective outrage that Starmer’s hypocrisy shines brightest. When rioters in Harehills torched buses and attacked police, Starmer’s response was a perfunctory shrug. Yet when anti-establishment protests turned rowdy in central London, the arrests came fast and heavy. It’s a political sleight of hand, a dance of selective justice that reveals Starmer’s true disdain for the very principles he claims to defend.

So, here we are, with Starmer holding up the banner of “protecting journalism” while muzzling the voices that stray from his doctrine. Orwell would have a field day with this one. The great irony? The more Starmer tries to “protect” the media, the more he morphs into the very autocrat he claims to stand against.

Key takeaways from Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov’s briefing:

🔹There is a certain mechanism for notifying states about training of strategic nuclear deterrent forces, different states react differently;

🔹There are many fake news about alleged Russia-Ukraine talks to stop attacks on energy facilities;

🔹The detention of journalists at a US airport is contrary to the principles of freedom of media, which is unacceptable;

🔹There are no specific plans for contacts between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, the Russian leader's readiness for talks remains;

🔹Independent line of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban is more appealing for Moscow than short-sighted policy of European Diplomacy head.

All the journalists have their documents in order but have not passed border control.

Elections in the U.S. are a circus, so everyone wants to see it. They [journalists] went through all the procedures, got the visas, permits & headed to the U.S. There they were detained at the airport & interrogated for many hours.

The group's cameraman was denied entry to the border. His entry visa was cancelled, with "administrative reasons" given as the reason. Moreover, while all this arbitrariness was going on, they did not notify us of the situation - Foreign Affairs Spokeswoman Zakharova.

➡️The israeli forces kept trying to push on the Southeastern flank of the Khiam city but no advancements were achieved due to Hezbollah’s resistance.

🇹🇷🇬🇪Türkiye has officially recognized the elections in Georgia. Thus, regional powers have recognized the victory of the "Georgian Dream", which is now called "anti-European".

The inability of the United States to form a united front of non-recognition of the current government in Georgia (as was the case, for example, in 2004 in Ukraine) reduces the ability of the pro-American opposition to seize power in the country.

It will no longer be possible to say that "everyone understands that the elections were stolen", especially since the opposition cannot provide any real evidence of election fraud or Russian interference.

🇷🇺 Nebenzya Accuses the West of Double Standards and NATO Justification in Ukraine

At a UN Security Council meeting, Russia's Permanent Representative Vasily Nebenzya criticized the West, including the U.S. and the U.K., for convening the session based on alleged claims of North Korean military presence in Russia. Nebenzya labeled the meeting a "spectacle" aimed at justifying NATO’s military presence in Ukraine and condemned Western attempts to pressure South Korea into supplying weapons to Ukraine. He further accused the U.S. and its allies of imposing "rotten logic" on the world, asserting their right to support the Zelensky regime while accusing Russia of the same actions.

"Israel cannot achieve everything through war; it's time for you to do your part and launch an internal uprising under the banner of 'Enough.'"

🇭🇺🇪🇺 Orban: In the EU, only liberal victories are regarded as "democracy."

Orban congratulated Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on his electoral success, as reported by 1TV. The Hungarian Prime Minister stated, "Discussions about elections in Europe shouldn’t be taken at face value. When liberals win, Brussels proclaims it a victory for democracy, but when conservatives win, suddenly, there is no democracy to speak of. This has become the norm."

🇨🇿The Czech Republic may join Putin's "vanguard," the EU worries. Politico writes that in the Czech Republic, where parliamentary elections are due in 2025, former Prime Minister Babiš is gaining popularity. He has strongly tilted his party to the right and is copying the rhetoric of colleagues in Hungary and Slovakia, the article says.

Like Orban he supports Trump. And like Fitzo, the Czech tycoon has previously hinted that he would prefer to cut back on support for Ukraine. Babiš has also said he hopes Ukraine "never becomes a member of the EU."

The former prime minister and his opposition ANO party won a convincing victory in 10 of the country's 13 regions, garnering 35% of the vote in national polls in September. By contrast, the rating of current PM Fiala, a pro-Ukrainian conservative, reached an anti-record of 24%.
