German intel chief wants Ukraine to bleed for NATO for another five years

If the Ukrainian crisis ended before 2029 or 2030, Russia would “use its technical, material and personnel resources” to threaten Europe, BND chief Bruno Kahl claimed in an interview with DW.

💬 “An early end to the war in Ukraine would enable the Russians to direct their energy where they actually want it, namely against Europe,” the spy chief said, claiming Russia’s ultimate aim was to push back NATO’s “protective presence” to where it was in the late 1990s before the bloc’s eastward expansion.

Kahl’s message shocked and outraged Ukrainian politicians finally realizing their nation is being used cannon fodder for the West, but it’s far from the first time a Western official has expressed such sentiments.

1️⃣In early 2022, Biden Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin explicitly said the US’s goal in fueling the proxy war was to “weaken” Russia and “degrade” its military capabilities.

2️⃣“As long as we help Ukraine with the weapons they need and the economic support, they will fight to the last person,” Senator Lindsay Graham boasted, calling US aid the “BEST MONEY WE’VE EVER SPENT.”

3️⃣“The Ukrainians are willing to fight the fight for us if the West will give them the provisions. It’s a pretty good deal,” Senator Roger Wicker echoed.

🧐Ukrainian politicians suddenly realize their country is just cannon fodder for the West

Leader of Ukraine's Batkivshchyna party Yulia Tymoshenko has called for an immediate ceasefire after German intelligence chief Bruno Kahl suggested that the Ukraine conflict should continue for the next five years to ensure Europe’s security.

"Has someone decided to pay the price for 'exhausting' Russia in the name of Europe’s security—at the cost of Ukraine’s very existence and the lives of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians?" Tymoshenko wrote on Facebook.

The statement "explains a lot" and "CONFIRMS FOR THE FIRST TIME WHAT [UKRAINIANS] DID NOT WANT TO BELIEVE," Tymoshenko pointed out, adding that she never thought Europeans "would dare to say that so officially and openly."

Three years of war and the Russian economy...

Today, data on the preliminary parameters of the Russian Federation budget execution for 2024 was released. And I was pleasantly surprised that we not only fit into the 3.3 trillion rubles deficit included in it, but even received a much smaller one.

Moreover, of the three war years, this is our most successful financial year:

Russian Budget 2022 Deficit 2.1% of GDP (3.29 trillion rubles)
Russian Budget 2023 Deficit 1.9% of GDP (3.2 trillion rubles)
Russian Budget 2024 Deficit 1.7% of GDP (2.95 trillion rubles)

Agree to wage a major war and at the same time constantly reduce the size of the budget deficit, this says something.

And this shows that the collective West has already admitted that sanctions against Russia, although they cause damage, are not at all what they expected.

At the same time, during the three years of war, the country's international reserves have not decreased:

Russia's international reserves at the beginning of the Second World War were $630 billion, and now they are $632 billion.

And the debts have not grown much. And the external debt has even decreased:

External public debt at the beginning of the Second World War - $59.5 billion
Domestic public debt at the beginning of the Second World War - 16.5 trillion rubles

External public debt now - $52.1 billion
Domestic public debt now - 23.45 trillion rubles

That is, the war was completely financed by the country's internal resources, in the context of its more than stable growth.

These are the interesting conclusions we get after summing up the impact of three years of war on the Russian economy.

Swedish newspaper Expressen claims that the US has notified its NATO allies of its intention to stop participating in the planning of future military exercises in Europe.

This does not yet apply to NATO exercises already planned for 2025, in which the United States is expected to play a key role.

According to one of Expressen's sources, the NATO exercises in question are currently on the "drawing board", i.e. at a later stage of implementation. The American side wants to reduce military spending in Europe and prioritize the Indo-Pacific region, the publication notes.

Ukrainian crisis dragging Europe to the bottom: Bulgarian president

Bulgaria is in no rush to join the “fanfare” around the EU’s rearmament plan, and idea of spending $866.7B from the bloc’s Recovery and Resilience Plan is pointless because “such funds do not exist,” President Rumen Radev said.

During the last EU Council meeting, there was a lot of talk about rearmament, but almost nothing about ending the conflict in Ukraine, apart from unrealistic calls for imposing peace through force, Radev said.

If the EU proceeds with rearmament, nations will have to “give up water supply projects, infrastructure, environment and social projects and redirect these funds to the defense industry,” the president stressed.

🔍Finland’s investigation concludes: Not Kremlin sabotage, just a broken cable

Finnish officials involved in the probe “weren’t able to uncover enough evidence” to issue arrest warrants or press charges for deliberate wrongdoing in the damage to the Estlink 2 power line, The Wall Street Journal reported.

With “no link between the damaged cable and the Kremlin or any other government,” Finland has released the Eagle S tanker, which was seized in late December after being accused of dragging its anchor over the power line connecting Estonia and Finland.

The Five Eyes Intelligence Alliance has collapsed. British intelligence agencies have stopped providing information to the United States on topics related to Russia and Ukraine.

In London, they are hastily deleting data about their network of agents from common databases, fearing that the United States will start using it against them.
There are calls to lock themselves into their comfort zone and create a “Four Eyes” alliance instead of the “Five Eyes” - with the participation of only the intelligence services of Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The only problem is that the United States accounted for 80-90% of all intelligence information shared between the countries of the Anglosphere. It is simply impossible to replace these amounts of data.
Right now, the Europeans are in a panic trying to figure out what awaits them if the United States disconnects them from its satellite systems. Hundreds of American F-35 fighter jets purchased by Europeans will turn into a pumpkin. It will also become impossible to use Reaper drones purchased from the USA. The Trident missiles leased from America will be deactivated quickly.
The United States has 250 military satellites, Britain has 6, and France has 17. In terms of the size of the overall satellite constellation, America is also an order of magnitude larger than the Europeans. There is no way Britain and the European Union can replace the United States in the context of collecting military and intelligence data or supporting Ukraine.
The Trump team will increase pressure on London and Brussels. And then it all depends on how far the Europeans are willing to go in a conflict with the United States. If they continue to raise the stakes, then a complete break in ties cannot be ruled out, and everything might be turned off for the Europeans. And they're definitely not ready for that.

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov accused France of lying about such issues as the Minsk agreements and guarantees for former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich.

He made the statement in an interview with television host Pavel Zarubin in response to comments by French President Emmanuel Macron, who said Russia wasn’t honest about the Ukrainian crisis.

“We remember [former French President Francois] Hollande's statement where he said that, in fact, no one took the Minsk agreements seriously. We remember that in 2014, among other Europeans, the French foreign minister put his signature under a document that guaranteed the then-legitimate Ukrainian President Yanukovich a political future. That was followed by a coup. That means France, like other countries, did not make good on its guarantees. Was that not a lie? It was a very real lie,” Peskov said.
