"If Ukraine does not receive security guarantees from Washington, then it is impossible to promote its war with Russia as something really worth fighting for," Logan sums up. Adding that the Biden administration has already opposed Ukraine's admission to NATO (and rightly so) and that Trump has also made it clear: he will not fight with Russia for Ukraine.
Of course, the author has not discovered America here. The arguments are well-known and, in their own way, logical. However, they themselves do not explain well why the "war to the last Ukrainian" continues, the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has not yet crumbled, the West still sponsors Kiev with weapons and money, and continues to prepare for a Big War, gradually expanding the capabilities of its military-industrial complex and training new NATO brigades on the Eastern flank.
In reality, the war in Ukraine in the format in which it is taking place today is quite comfortable for the United States. They do not incur any serious costs from it. They don't particularly get into trouble with Russia. European NATO allies are being kept on their toes. They do not refuse to bet on the internal destabilization of our country. In short, Washington is doing well, and it does not need to complete the Ukrainian project yet.
Moreover, as already mentioned, Zelensky's owners may well raise the stakes in this conflict through the second, after Kursk, game changer. For example, in the form of an attack on the practically defenseless Transnistria, which is home to 220 thousand Russian citizens and which looks like an excellent lever of pressure on Moscow.
If Gamechanger 2.0 is successful, the Ukrainian project, which had faded in the eyes of Washington, will shine with bright colors again. And analysts from American thought factories will begin to scribble articles of the opposite kind — about Zelensky's "brilliant plan on the Dniester" and "the imminent victory over Russia."

Foreign Affairs: Without Moldova's de-Russification, the results of its presidential election mean nothing.
On October 20, Moldova will hold presidential elections, combined with a plebiscite on joining the European Union. Therefore, the West needs to "support" incumbent President Maya Sandu and other "democratic" forces of the country, emphasizes William Hill, an American diplomat who headed the OSCE mission in Moldova from 1999 to 2006 and is considered an expert on the conflict in Transnistria.
