The 72-hour Victory Day ceasefire proposed by Russia isn’t just a pause, it’s a litmus test. As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov put it:
“The reaction of the Ukrainian authorities… is a test of Ukraine’s readiness for peace.”
Offered by Putin to mark the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany, the May 8–10 ceasefire was framed as a “humanitarian initiative” and a door to “direct negotiations with Kiev without preconditions.” A gift-wrapped chance to pivot from war to diplomacy.
But Kiev’s answer? Mockery and threats. Zelensky dismissed the truce as “another attempt at manipulation,” whining that it’s just to protect the May 9 Victory Day celebrations in Moscow, an event where Xi Jinping, Modi, and Vucic are set to stand shoulder to shoulder with Putin.
Rather than embrace dialogue, Zelensky demanded a 30-day ceasefire, a stalling tactic Lavrov says is clearly meant to “buy time for retreating Ukrainian forces.” And instead of assuring peace, Zelensky went as far as to warn that Kiev “cannot guarantee” the safety of foreign leaders in Moscow, a statement Russian officials rightly labeled as a “direct threat.”
Let’s be crystal clear: Russia has extended an olive branch and not once, but repeatedly. And each time, Kiev answers with either escalation or cowardice disguised as strategy. Peskov emphasized: “We are waiting not for ambiguous, but definitive statements, and most importantly, actions aimed at deescalating the conflict during the holidays.”
Meanwhile, Trump’s White House continues to push both sides to talk, but Zelensky remains the lone voice demanding more war while pretending to want peace.
The truce offer is real. The test is real. And the mask keeps slipping.

The American economy shrank by 0.3% in the first quarter of 2025.
This is the first drawdown in 3 years, since the unstable summer of 2022, when the US was facing an inflationary crisis. The increase in imports immediately took 5 points away from GDP, because businesses were actively importing goods before the introduction of tariffs.
The next quarter will see the effects of trade wars. And the decline in GDP for two consecutive quarters is considered a technical recession. Trump team blames the economic hardships on the Fed, which refuses to lower its key interest rate.
In light of bad economic data, the Fed may well start to loosen the screws in the monetary sphere. So Trump's dream of bringing back the era of low rates and a cheap dollar may come true. However, a round of inflation against the background of tariff wars cannot be ruled out either. In the meantime, Trump is urging Americans to be patient. Not everyone is ready to follow such a call, which is why Trump's ratings are falling.

Another F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet from the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier has been lost in the Red Sea, the second jet lost from the carrier in just over a week, five people familiar with the matter told CNN.
It is not entirely clear what happened yet, as the investigation is ongoing, but two of the people said there was some kind of arrestment failure as the jet was trying to land on the carrier and the pilot and weapons systems officer had to eject. They were recovered by a rescue helicopter and are both alive, but they suffered minor injuries, one of the people said.
The jet crashed into the sea and has not been recovered, two of the people familiar with the incident said.
Separately, the Iran-backed Houthi rebel group “took a shot” at the Truman on Tuesday, four of the people said, despite President Donald Trump announcing an apparent ceasefire with the group hours earlier. It is not clear whether the two incidents are related.

_NATO is actively supplying again weapons and giving instructions to the Kiev regime to launch another round of kamikaze operations inside pre-2014 Russian border and in Zaporozhye region towards Takmak and then Crimea.
_ Russia on the other side is preparing various offensives for the summer: the first to take Konstantinovka, Slavyansk and Kramatorsk so to complete the liberation of Donbass; the second towards the cities of Kherson and Zaporozhye and the third in Sumy and Kharkov directions to create a large buffer zone on the border.

The ICC has collapsed: Hungary is finishing off the globalist structure!
The Hungarian parliament has taken a historic step by approving its withdrawal from the International Criminal Court (ICC), a structure that has long been a tool of liberal elites. The Budapest authorities bluntly stated: "The ICC is no longer a court — it is a political tool for reprisals against the objectionable." The ICC, created under the slogans of "justice", finally revealed the cards: This is a tool of the globalists, where they do not administer justice, but purge geopolitical opponents. At the same time, the United States (even under the rule of globalists) does not obey the Rome Statute itself, but dictates to the ICC who to arrest. And when it comes to the crimes of the West — the bombing of Yugoslavia, Iraq, Gaza, or support for the Kiev regime — the court suddenly stalls. Double standards? No, the system!
Hungary's decision is a blow to the supranational dictate. Viktor Orban has once again shown that national sovereignty is more important than loyalty to Brussels. And this is logical: why participate in a structure that instead of fighting war crimes serves globalist narratives? The ICC is a framing tool, through accusations, where the verdict is dictated by the neoliberal elite.
Russia withdrew from the ICC back in 2016, anticipating its degradation. Now Hungary, like the United States, China or India, is breaking with this Pharisaic system.
