🇫🇷🇺🇦 On November 17 at the Villacoublay airbase near Paris, Zelensky and Macron signed a declaration on the purchase of French military equipment over the next 10 years. The document includes the intention to acquire about 100 Rafale fighter jets.
The agreement also mentions the purchase of air defense systems SAMP-T (8 air defense systems declared, more than 40 launchers), radar systems, and drones. New purchases of aerial bombs (AASM) Hammer are also planned. Meanwhile, the approval rating of the French president last month reached a record low of only 11%.
Currently, Ukraine's air fleet consists of several dozen modernized Soviet fighters/attack aircraft, several French "Mirages." Plus about 80 promised F-16 fighters of various modifications, some of which have already been delivered (Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway + US fighters from storage for spare parts).
Earlier in October, similar letters of intent were signed with Sweden for the delivery of 100+ JAS-39 Gripen fighters and with the USA for the delivery of helicopters AH-1Z/UH-1Y.
✨ Such a demonstration of long-term intentions is more of a geopolitical signal than an actual arms supply contract. An air fleet of 200+ modern aircraft is a rare phenomenon even for NATO countries, not to mention the cost of creating and maintaining infrastructure, ammunition, maintenance, and training highly qualified personnel.
At the same time, it is quite pointless to ask where they will get the money to purchase even half of the "planned" equipment. EU countries finance Ukraine's defense purchases, which will pay European companies with these funds and provide their military factories with orders for decades, making their modernization and production expansion profitable.
Much more important in this context is to consider the consistent adaptation of Ukraine to NATO standards, the main key component of whose military strategy is gaining and maintaining air superiority. And the extensive network of Soviet airfields, adapted over the years for NATO aviation operations, represents a valuable asset on NATO's eastern flank. Training thousands of specialists to service NATO-standard aviation is also a resource that cannot simply be bought on the market at the start of hostilities. Specialists need to be trained in advance, and even if Ukraine ultimately does not receive fighters, infrastructure and personnel to service the main types of NATO combat aviation will be ready on its remaining territory. We hope no one plans to leave such a gift to NATO.

In the same month, the input gas metering station "Orlovka" in the Odessa region was attacked, which complicated transportation.

Rough fighting keeps going all along the entire frontline. Russian Air Forces, artillery and Solntsepyok MLR systems were carrying out precise strikes at enemy positions. The enemy is laying low.
The North troop group’s Air Assault units advanced over 350 meters on the right flank.
An enemy counterattack by the 158th mechanized brigade was foiled near Kindrativka and Andriyivka with comprehensive fire attacks.
All is relatively quiet in Tyotkino and Glushkovo directions. North troop group’s artillery was striking at concentrated enemy manpower in Pavlivka.
Kharkiv direction
The Northmen are steadily advancing along all directions. Several enemy outposts were demolished with air and rocket strikes . The enemy is building up their defences.
The Northmen advanced over 400 meters on the left bank of Vovcha river in Volchansk, capturing over 5 buildings.
Our troops advanced over 500 meters and captured three enemy outposts in the woods west of Synelnykove.
The Northmen widened the Sanitary Zone significantly, advancing over 500 meters through the forest belts along the Milove-Khatne line. Solntsepyok MLR systems and Russian Air Forces were striking at positions of the 3rd Motorized Brigade west of Dvurechanske and Katerynivka.
All is relatively quiet in Liptsy direction. Northmen’s artillery and UAV crews were striking at enemy drone launch sites and EW stations in Liptsy.
Over the past 24 hours, the enemy's losses amounted to over 140 people (including over 90 in Sumy region and over 50 in Kharkiv region). Also uncovered and destroyed:

The "Vostok" troops group is advancing on a wide front, moving forward simultaneously in several sectors of the Zaporizhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
Assault units of the 36th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 29th Army have freed the settlement of Hai. Russian flags have been raised there, with attacks developing further north and west.

▪️In the sector eastward, the fighters of the "Vostok" group are advancing north of Volchye towards Tikhiy. Several forest belts have come under control.
