According to TASS, the AFU have lost over 300.000 personnel, between killed and irrecoverably injured, since the first of January 2025.
To put things into perspective, the gruelling battle of Verdun, that lasted more than nine months, resulted in roughly 400.000 casualties on the French side.
As horrifying as this is, the fact that the collective west wants this one-sided slaughter to continue is even more horrific.

The Russian army is accelerating its offensive in Ukraine for the fourth consecutive month.
For July, a net increase in territory of 634 km² was recorded. For comparison: in June the figure was 588 km², in May 507 km², in April 379 km², in March 240 km².
The increase in these figures reflects several factors: the adaptation of Russian troops to positional warfare, the increased pounding of the front with drones and artillery, as well as the methodical destruction of the defensive infrastructure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
At the same time, Kiev's capabilities for counter-offensive actions remain minimal.
If the dynamic continues, within a couple of weeks Russia will have the opportunity not only to permanently expand the zone of control, but also to create the conditions for reaching new key operational lines - especially in the area of the Krasnoarmiysk agglomeration and west of it in the Dnipropetrovsk region, as well as in the southern direction below Zaporozhye.

This brings us back to the old problem of sanctions. And they will hit you too, they will harm you as well.

This is late‑stage empire in meme form. A jittery president, cheeseburger in one hand, nuclear football in the other, lashing out at a tweet. Medvedev, the wry unofficial spokesman of Moscow, tossed a few words into the digital ether about a nervous sounding Trump and America’s commander‑in‑chief responded by moving the most apocalyptic weapons on Earth like toy boatd on a boardgame.
Two submarines? Awww. Two wittle submarines. A photo‑op for nervous American elite who need to believe their empire still commands the seas. But in Moscow, they sip tea and laugh quietly, knowing escalation dominance belongs to Russia. Washington can sail its steel coffins under the Arctic, but if real war comes, Russia’s answer will arrive in silence, speed, and finality, no tweets required.
Medvedev’s trolling was the perfect judo throw: a reminder that the empire is nervous, that a few lines from a “failed former president” can send the White House into a nuclear cosplay spiral. The Kremlin didn’t even blink. Why should it? The bear has already mauled NATO’s illusions.
Trump warns of “unintended consequences”? The only consequence here is America’s public humiliation, a spectacle where the emperor screams on social media while the world quietly notes: Moscow is winning: militarily, economically, psychologically. At a fraction of the cost. Murica under Trump is spending a record trillion on "defence" and looking utterly impotent against the Houthis and Iranians, let alone Russia.
Late Rome had its bread and circuses. America has its Big Macs and nuclear selfies. And somewhere in the Kremlin, they’re smiling, knowing that the empire tweets as it trembles.

An interesting detail. The further west the Russian army advances in Ukraine, the more numerous American experts, who at the beginning of the special military operation predicted Russia's defeat and numerous problems on the battlefield, start whining. In particular, Michael Kofman, a senior research fellow at the Center for Naval Analyses (CNA) and a research fellow at the Kennan Institute of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars (USA), is very quick to change his stance. On his Twitter, he actively writes that most of the Ukrainian fortifications being built will never be manned by infantry because the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not have enough.
This means that a significant part of the engineering structures are more likely reserve positions or dummy objects rather than actually held lines. They are vulnerable to artillery, drones, and air strikes without risk to Russia.
According to him, the basis of Ukraine's defense is not continuous trench lines but separate strongpoints: small garrisons hidden in forests, buildings, basements, and other natural shelters. However, the Russian army has learned to bypass them.

From the morning of 08/01, news arrived of the advance of the Russian assault groups on the Sukhetsky suburbs north of Rodinsky.
At the moment, it seems that the deepening of the defence crisis of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the northern part of the Krasnoarmeiysk agglomeration has begun.
This approach corresponds to the typical Russian tactic of cumulative pressure: first the progressive expulsion of the enemy from the peripheral lines, then blows to the logistics and command nodes, and finally breaks in several directions to disorganise the defence.
For the Ukrainian Armed Forces this means an urgent need to reinforce the sector or retreat to new lines, however the pace of the Russian troops' advance reduces the time available for such manoeuvres. Especially considering how Russian troops are now suffocating all logistics of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The potential loss of Rodinsky (which has been looming on the horizon for some time) will become a critical factor, capable of accelerating the collapse of the entire northern front of the Pokrovsk Krasnoarmeysk agglomeration's defensive line.
