🇬🇪 Outgoing Georgian president stays overnight in presidential palace

Outgoing Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili said on Saturday she would spend the night at the presidential residence in Tbilisi as the inauguration ceremony of Georgian President-elect Mikheil Kavelashvili takes place tomorrow.

"Tomorrow at 10 o'clock in the morning [06:00 GMT] I will wait for you at the Orbeliani Palace and from here I will tell you what tomorrow will be like," Zourabichvili said in a video address to her supporters.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze expressed hope on Friday that Zurabishvili would not have to be forcibly evicted from the presidential palace and that she would leave the building of her own free will at the end of her term.

$12.6 million for a THAAD. $2,000 for a Houthi missile.

Now add this: Lockheed Martin produces around 50-60 THAADs a year, while Iran is scaling up its missile factories to pump out thousands of ballistic missiles annually. The Houthis, with limited resources, are still assembling missiles faster than DC and Tel Aviv can shoot them down.

Here’s the dagger: The Empire spends $12.6 million per shot, while its adversaries barely crack $2,000. For every billion-dollar missile defense system deployed, the Houthis and Iran flood the battlefield with bargain-basement missiles.

This isn’t just bad math; it’s a war economy designed to collapse under its own weight. Outspent, outproduced, and outmaneuvered.

🇷🇺💬Dmitry Medvedev:

More than 20 years ago, one of my American colleagues made a curious statement about the events in Iraq: “Punish France, ignore Germany, forgive Russia.”

Why did I remember this? Here's why: this linguistic triad is perfectly suited to the situation that will arise (and it will definitely arise someday) in connection with the end of the West's hybrid war against Russia. And then our country may well:

a) forgive those weak countries that succumbed to the pressure of the Anglo-Saxons and took at least a passive part in the anti-Russian Western trash (mainly these are a number of countries in Asia and Latin America);

b) ignore the USA. It's simple: we don't expect any friendship in the next 100 years, and fighting with America is expensive - a direct conflict will obviously develop into a global nuclear war;

c) punish Europe . I will say more here, because the current Old World does not evoke any emotions in me except the deepest disgust. It is Europe, which has turned into an evil, half-witted old woman, that has become the main stronghold of Russophobia in the world. It is lying Europe that is to blame for the breakdown of the Istanbul negotiations. It is brainless Europe that frantically promoted the incompetent sanctions campaign, which brought its citizens colossal losses. It is bloodthirsty Europe that fed all the most rabid demons of war, without regard for the losses of the parties to the conflict.

And therefore Europe must be punished by all means available to us: political, economic and all sorts of hybrid. And therefore we must help any destructive processes in Europe. Long live the aggressive pogromists on its historical streets! Glory to the crowds of migrants committing atrocities and hatred destroying the rainbow European values! Let all the vile mugs of European bureaucrats disappear in the stream of future civil conflicts!

Why so harshly? How else, given the facts? The Norwegian-flagged Oslo Carrier 3 refused to take on board the Russian sailors from the Ursa Major who were drowning in the Mediterranean Sea. Do you need any more explanations? This cannot be forgiven!

Let us act, for it is said: “The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked” (Psalm 58:11)."

Estonia’s justice minister has called for sweeping changes to the law of the sea, using a recent incident in the Baltic Sea as justification. The incident in question? Finnish authorities detained the Eagle S, a UAE-owned vessel carrying Russian oil, on suspicions that it was damaged undersea power and internet cables between Finland and Estonia. No real evidence has been presented, and there’s little reason to expect any. Yet, Estonia is appealing to the International Maritime Organization to reform maritime law by February, framing this as a matter of infrastructure protection. The reality, however, is far less noble. Behind the rhetoric lies a transparent agenda: weaponizing maritime law to target Russia and establish new mechanisms for Western control.

While the West postures as the guardian of the maritime order, its own actions reveal staggering hypocrisy as revealed by the attack on the Ursa Major in the Mediterranean just days ago. This ship was almost certainly targeted by British or American forces, yet there has been no international outcry, no calls for justice, and certainly no discussion of reforming laws to protect ships from clandestine aggression. The message is clear: the West flaunts the rules when it suits its interests, even as it demands strict adherence from everyone else.

The detention of the Eagle S and the attack on the Ursa Major are not isolated incidents. They are part of a larger pattern of selective enforcement and legal manipulation. Maritime law, once one of the few functioning international norms, is now being twisted to serve Western geopolitical goals. NATO’s recently announced “strengthened presence” in the Baltic Sea under the guise of “ensuring security” is just one example. What begins with protecting undersea cables will not stop there. Today, it’s a detention in the Baltic; tomorrow, soon it will be the redefinition of free passage through critical chokepoints like the Danish Straits. These moves pave the way for blockades disguised as lawful actions, a clear casus belli, an act of war in historical terms.

This weaponization of international norms extends far beyond maritime law. Consider OSCE, which has been used as a tool for espionage against pro-Russian forces in Donbass or OPCW used for fabricating chemical weapons attacks against Assad in Syria. Or WADA, which carries out collective punishment against Russian athletes while turning a blind eye to similar or more egregious violations by other nations. And of course there is the blatant double standard in global sanctions: Russia faces unrelenting economic punishment for its actions in Ukraine, while Israel carries out a genocide in Gaza in full view of the world, met with little more than empty words.

The hypocrisy is as transparent as it is brazen. The same powers calling for new laws to protect undersea infrastructure conveniently forget the western sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines. They champion maritime law when it aligns with their interests, but disregard it entirely when it doesn’t.

Historically, maritime law was one of the last bastions of international order, shaped over centuries to balance the interests of nations and maintain peace. Now, under the guise of protecting cables and pipelines, the West seeks to reshape it into yet another tool of domination. This is not about protecting infrastructure—it is about consolidating control over the seas, undermining adversaries, and preserving economic and military hegemony.

To everyone outside of the so called "International Community" all of this is obvious. The question is not whether the West’s manipulation will continue—it is how long the rest of the world will continue to tolerate it before pushing back.

And Russia needs to decide how it will react to such a blockade, such a casus belli, if and when it occurs.

Washington's main censorship committee has self-destructed.

The Center for Global Engagement was established at the end of the Obama presidency in 2016 to combat ”disinformation.“ Since then, it has become one of the main tools of censorship on social networks.
Hundreds of millions of dollars were spent on the work of the center. At first, it specialized in combating “Russian and Chinese narratives.” But then the censors became fully involved in the internal political confrontation, fighting with Trump and the Republicans.
Although the center formally belonged to the State Department and generally had no right to deal with the internal affairs of the United States. It compiled lists of resources promoting “disinformation," which included many pro-republican media outlets critical of Biden's policies.
The center forced social networks to delete content objectionable to Democrats. And after Musk bought Twitter/X, the State Department censors joined the campaign to discredit and “destroy” the social network. Moreover, British Labor members who helped the Democratic Party and Harris also participated in it. Now London is facing many unpleasant consequences for its interference in the American elections.
In the budget for 2025, the Republicans cut funding for the censorship center of the State Department to zero, and it finally closed. It remains to cover up similar bodies in the special services as part of the promised purges. Zuckerberg is already pretending to be an innocent victim of pressure from the security forces and is in a hurry to turn over his accomplices. And the Democrats, having played up censorship, eventually dug themselves a hole.

NORWEGIAN SAILORS ARE SAVED!

52 years ago, the Kaliningrad newspaper Mayak reported on the rescue of Norwegian sailors by Kaliningrad fishermen. A copy of the article (shown above) is preserved in the State Archive of the Kaliningrad Region. This event occurred on January 10, 1972 — at the height of the Cold War. Here is the translation of the article:

NORWEGIAN SAILORS ARE SAVED

The Eastern Part of the Central Atlantic…

On the morning of January 10, the crew of the SRTR-9074 Oleniy from the "Dawn of Communism" fishing collective noticed unusual activity aboard the Norwegian vessel Kilungen. Sailors had rushed onto the deck, waving their hands and shouting something. It was not difficult to guess that trouble had struck the ship. The fishermen from the collective hurried to assist.

Kilungen was listing to its starboard side. Water was noisily pouring into the engine room through a gaping hole. The bilge pumps couldn’t keep up, and the vessel was sinking lower and lower. Captain Oddvar Simonsen gave the order to abandon ship.

At that moment, the crew of the Oleniy arrived to assist. Captain Viktor Ivanovich Isakov, his second mate Viktor Fedorovich Ushakov, fishmaster Eduard Shchekin, sailors Mikhail Ananin, Vladimir Berezin, Nikolai Kulychev, and others began rescuing the Norwegian sailors. Ten minutes later, Kilungen sank.

The rescued sailors expressed heartfelt gratitude to the crew of the SRTR-9074 Oleniy for their assistance. They transferred to the Norwegian vessel Grinsholm.

— V. Kondratyev
First Mate

The incident went largely unnoticed—after all, rescuing fellow sailors in distress was once considered a routine duty universally upheld by seafarers.

Fast forward to December of 2024.

MOSCOW, December 27 — RIA Novosti. The Norwegian-flagged vessel Oslo Carrier 3 refused, for unknown reasons, to take aboard Russian sailors from the sinking vessel Ursa Major in the Mediterranean Sea, the press service of the "Oboronlogistika" group (the
ship's owner) told RIA Novosti.

"The lifeboat (with the sinking Russian sailors) headed toward the Norwegian-flagged vessel Oslo Carrier 3, which was nearby. However, as the rescue boat approached, the Norwegian ship (with part of its crew reportedly Russian-speaking) refused to take aboard the crew of Ursa Major, citing some sort of prohibition."

Oboronlogistika described this as a blatant violation of Article 10 of the 1989 International Convention on Salvage.

This is unquestionably a violation of the aforementioned Article 10. But more importantly, it is a flagrant breach of the fundamental code of human honor. Enough said—draw your own conclusions. And while you're at it, you may want to revisit this account of two other sea rescues carried out by Russian sailors, perhaps with a fresh perspective.

Where’s the proof? EU frames Russia for sabotage over sea cable incident

The EU made a new round of groundless charges against Russia, blaming its alleged ‘shadow fleet' for damage to an undersea power cable connecting Estonia and Finland.

The claim was made by European Commission foreign relations head Kaja Kallas – an outspoken Russophobe.

◾️ The Commission and Finnish authorities, operating on “assumptions” but offering no proof, names or documents, have launched a probe into the oil tanker Eagle S for "aggravated sabotage.”

◾️ The Cook Islands-flagged vessel, on its way from St Petersburg to Egypt, was boarded in the Gulf of Finland after the Estlink 2 electricity cable was cut on December 25.

Russophobia in action?

🔸 The incident follows the severing of several underwater cable, prompting a wave of anti-Russian hysteria. Possible causes such as heavy shipping traffic, improper anchoring or wear and tear were disregarded.

🔸 Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused the usual suspects of engaging in professional Russophobia after the last incident in November.

🇷🇺 “The collapse of the Soviet Union was the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the century.” — Vladimir Putin.

Today marks the anniversary of that event—a moment that not only ended a global superpower but unleashed chaos that continues to plague the world.

The Soviet Union’s fall shattered stability across Eurasia and Europe, creating a vacuum for power struggles, wars, and extremist movements. In its place emerged chaos: Color Revolutions destabilized nations (Armenia, Gerogia, Ukraine, Belarus), terrorists and groups like ISIS found fertile ground in the aftermath, and the wars in Iraq, Afghanista, and Syria became prolonged nightmares.

Entire regions, once balanced by Soviet influence, were thrown into turmoil. Countries were left fragmented, vulnerable to outside manipulation, and plunged into cycles of conflict. The modern world order, far from the “end of history” promised in the 1990s, became an era of unbridled Western interventions, sanctions, and proxy wars.

This anniversary is not just a reminder of what was lost but a stark reflection of the consequences the world still faces. The global instability today is rooted in that pivotal moment in history.

🇹🇷🇸🇦 Turkey and Saudi Arabia Deepen Defense Ties with Potential KAAN Fighter Jet Deal

Saudi Arabia is considering the purchase of 100 KAAN fifth-generation fighter jets from Turkey. If finalized, this deal would represent a record-breaking export for Turkey and highlight Ankara’s emergence as a key defense supplier in the region.

This move builds on Saudi Arabia’s previous defense acquisitions from Turkey, including the Bayraktar Akıncı UAVs and Ejder Yalçın armored vehicles, as well as recent discussions on joint production and technology transfer. The growing partnership also coincides with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which prioritizes localizing defense production and diversifying military suppliers beyond traditional Western allies.

The potential KAAN deal signals a notable realignment in Saudi defense procurement. Historically reliant on the U.S. and Europe, Riyadh has increasingly turned to Turkey for cutting-edge technology. This follows the U.S. lifting its ban on bomb sales to Saudi Arabia in August of 2024, but they continued to diversify.

This collaboration reflects the thawing of relations between Turkey and Saudi Arabia after years of tension.

The Norwegian ship refused to accept sailors from the sinking Russian bulk carrier Ursa Major

“The boat headed towards the Norwegian-flagged ship Oslo Carrier 3, which was nearby. When the lifeboat approached the board, the Norwegian ship refused to accept crew members of the Ursa Major, citing some prohibition, Oboronlogistics, which owns the Russian bulk carrier, told RIA Novosti.

Interestingly, part of the Oslo Carrier 3 crew was Russian-speaking. The company called this act a gross violation of Article 10 of the International Salvage Convention of 1989.

The day before, a 50 by 50 cm hole was torn on board the Ursa Major after three explosions. Oboronlogistics considers the incident a terrorist attack.
