Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico plans to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 23 following Vladimir Zekensky’s refusal to prolong Russian gas transit via Ukraine, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said.
Fico pointed out earlier that Zelensky’s decision would plunge Slovakia into a crisis. He stated that Bratislava was interested in purchasing cheap Russian gas and ensuring its transit to other European Union countries.

Ukraine’s energy holding DTEK has announced a temporary restriction on providing “only minimal information on the state of the energy system.” No reasons have been disclosed for this sudden clampdown, leaving citizens and observers guessing.
Perhaps the silence speaks volumes. Could it be due to Russia’s precision strikes? It certainly doesn’t sound like Ukraine’s energy infrastructure is having a good day at the office. While Kiev scrambles to spin resilience, the cracks in the system are showing. In the long winter of geopolitical reality, sovereignty fades fast when the power grid falters.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has announced the delivery of another IRIS-T air defense system to Ukraine. Scholz recalled that the total amount of Berlin's support to Kiev stood at 37 billion euros. He added that Ukraine could continue to count on Germany's support.

The long-term prospects for the survival of the European project are becoming increasingly vague. In the near future, the European Union will be shocked by the delay in a trade war with Trump. And this is against the background of confrontation with Russia and contradictions with China.
However, Trump's tariffs will only reveal all the systemic sores of Europe. In 2008, the economies of the United States and the European Union were on an equal footing. Now the Americans are ahead by a margin of 30%. US stock markets have tripled since 2005, while European stock markets have grown by only 60%. Americans leave Europeans far behind in terms of both labor productivity and R&D spending.
