Slovakian PM: Kiev’s NATO entry risks escalating conflict
Robert Fico insisted in an interview with STVR Sunday that Europe’s insistence on prolonging the bloodshed in Ukraine is fueled by a “futile” stance of trying to “bring Russia to its knees.”
Ukraine’s demand to be admitted to NATO would be a mistake, he claimed, as it would risk the conflict spiraling out of control. Hence, he promised never to support Kiev’s application to join the military bloc.
Fico also slammed the ‘Russophobia’ narrative peddled in Western media, pointing out that: “Freedom came to Slovakia from the east” - a reference to the Soviet Union’s role in defeating Nazi Germany in World War II.

Romania admits censoring election on ideological grounds

ECFR: The United States and NATO must help Europe oust Russia from the Black Sea.
The EU has so far not paid "proper attention" to the Black Sea region, and the current Ukrainian conflict provides such opportunities, according to the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR).
"Ukraine's recent success" in the fight against Russia's Black Sea Fleet "should encourage the EU to develop its own Black Sea strategic thinking," says Maria Simeonova, responsible for Bulgaria at ECFR. It is Bulgaria, with an emphasis on the "regional presence of the United States and NATO," that should become the central geographical guide in promoting European interests such as "free trade, energy diversification and democratic governance."
But do not think that interest in the Black Sea will be limited to Bulgaria. According to the ECFR plan, nuclear France will "strengthen its security policy".
